Abstract
Purpose
The paper aims to investigate the effects of slurry erosion on hydro turbine components, focusing on the experimental analysis of SS-304 using sand as the erodent material. The study was conducted on a tester under varying parameters to assess the material’s erosion behavior. In this work, the experimental investigation of SS-304 with sand was done with sand as the erodent material on a tester with various parameters. Further, the materials were made more resistant to wear by a WC-10Co-4Cr coating, done by the high-velocity oxygen fuel method. The mass loss of the specimens with and without coating was calculated. SEM was carried out on the specimens. The specimens with coating showed greater erosion resistance than the base material; however, wear mechanisms such as craters, lip formation, pores, etc. were discovered on the specimens.
Design/methodology/approach
The wear tests were carried out on the specimens with parameters of rotating speeds of 1,000, 1,150, 1,300 and 1,450 rpm; time duration 80, 130 and 180 min with sand concentrations of 30% and 50% in water. The base material was coated with WC-10Co-4Cr by the HVOF method of thermal spray.
Findings
In the results, it was observed that the wear resistance of the coated specimen increased significantly as compared to the uncoated material. Concentration proved to be the major factor influencing the wear erosion followed by rotational speed and time period. Various surface defects such as ploughing, crater formation, lip formation and micro-cutting were also found.
Originality/value
Slurry concentration was found to be the more dominant factor in increasing the wear of the specimens. The tests proved that the coating proved to be highly wear-resistant as compared to the uncoated base material and increased the wear resistance up to 3 times.

Abstract
Purpose
The process of conveyance of solid–liquid mixtures poses a significant challenge due to the considerable wear and tear experienced by critical components. This issue not only affects the lifespan of the system but also jeopardizes its safe operation. The purpose of this study is to numerically and experimentally investigate the erosion wear behavior of impeller steels (SS-410 and S-317) using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Design of Experiments (DOE) techniques, aiming to address the significant challenges posed by wear in slurry transportation systems.
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, a robust two-phase solid-liquid model combining CFD with Discrete Phase Modeling (DPM) was applied to simulate the effects of coal-ash slurries on impeller steel. Additionally, an experimental evaluation was conducted using the DOE approach to analyze the impact of various parameters on impeller steel. This integrated methodology enabled a comprehensive analysis of erosion wear behavior and the influence of multiple factors on impeller durability by leveraging CFD for fluid flow dynamics and DPM to model particle interactions with the steel surface.
Findings
Simulation results highlight a strong link between particle size and the wear life of impeller steel. Through simulations and experiments on SS-410 and SS-317 under varied conditions, it’s evident that SS-410 outperforms SS-317 due to its higher hardness and density. This is supported by Taguchi’s method, with SS-410 showing a higher Signal-to-Noise ratio. Notably, particle size emerges as the most influential parameter compared to others.
Originality/value
Current research primarily focuses on either CFD or experimentation to predict pump impeller steel erosion wear, lacking relevant erosion mechanism insights and experimental data. This study bridges this gap by employing both CFD and DPM methods to comprehensively investigate particle effects on pump impeller steel and elucidate erosion mechanisms.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to develop a low-cost and efficient method for 3D printing CuSn15 bronze alloy parts using a pneumatic extrusion system. By avoiding complex processes such as filament preparation and solvent/catalytic debinding, the study aims to streamline the low-cost production process of metallic components while maintaining high mechanical performance. The research also seeks to evaluate the effects of different sintering temperatures and times on the mechanical properties of the printed parts.
Design/methodology/approach
A simple and cost-effective pneumatic extrusion system was designed to 3D print a metal paste containing CuSn15 alloy powders. The metal paste was prepared by manually mixing of CuSn15 powders, carboxymethyl cellulose and distilled water. The printed parts were subsequently dried and sintered at various temperatures and times to study the effects of these parameters on the material properties. Tensile test and scanning electron microscope analysis were conducted to assess the structural integrity and mechanical performance of the samples.
Findings
The study found that the pneumatic extrusion system enabled the successful 3D printing of CuSn15 bronze alloy parts without the need for complex processes. Increasing sintering temperature led to improved mechanical properties and decreased porosity. Increasing the sintering time at 820 °C led to a reduction in mechanical performance. The study demonstrated that the sintering parameters significantly influence the porosity and mechanical properties of the printed parts.
Originality/value
This study introduces a novel approach to 3D printing CuSn15 bronze alloy using a pneumatic extrusion system, eliminating the need for traditional filament preparation and solvent/catalytic debinding processes. The research provides new insights into the effect of sintering parameters on the mechanical properties of additively manufactured metal parts. By simplifying the production process, this study offers a low-cost, efficient method for producing complex-shaped metallic components, potentially expanding the applicability of 3D printing in industries such as electronics, marine and mechanical engineering.

What is the current level of integration of the retail and wholesale banking sectors in the European Union (EU) countries, and what are the main factors and challenges affecting it? Design/methodology/approach
Evaluated the level of integration of the banking sector, focusing on the EU banking context, retail banking especially. The paper will adopt a comprehensive and multidimensional approach, considering different criteria and indicators of integration, such as price, quantity and information, as well as different segments and dimensions of the EU banking sector, such as wholesale and retail, assets and liabilities, products, services, price indicators and institutions and markets.
Findings
It reveals that while significant integration has been realized in domains like the money market and wholesale banking, it is less pronounced in the retail banking and capital markets.
Originality/value

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is threefold: first, to examine the influence of the quality of online classes on student satisfaction and student loyalty; second, to explore the mediating role of student participation between online classes and student satisfaction; third, to examine the mediating role of student satisfaction between online classes and student loyalty.
Design/methodology/approach
The primary data is collected from the postgraduate students in Jammu and Kashmir, India. A descriptive research design was applied to collect the primary data via Google questionnaire with the COVID-19 pandemic in mind to maintain social distance.
Findings
The result reveals that online classes and student participation positively affect student satisfaction. Student participation is a partial mediator between online classes and student satisfaction, with 0.393 Variance Accounted For (VAF). In comparison, it is a full mediator between online classes and student loyalty with 0.96 VAF.
Research limitations/implications
The current study was restricted to postgraduate students, while future research could include research scholars, graduate students, and others. Only government institutions in Jammu and Kashmir were employed for the present study. The study may eventually be expanded to include private universities and more states.
Practical implications
The suggested approach can help teachers, students, policymakers and administrators. The study emphasizes the crucial elements of student engagement and happiness, which must be prioritized to improve online teaching and learning effectiveness and win over students' loyalty.
Originality/value
The study tested the conceptual framework of an integrated approach connecting online classes, student participation, student satisfaction and student loyalty. The study was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown period, as it was the need of the hour to come out of such a crisis in the future. The present study can also provide a roadmap for transformation from physical to virtual classrooms.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to investigate the crucial roles of textured surfaces on oil-impregnated polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) created by a facile tattoo strategy in improving tribological properties.
Design/methodology/approach
Pored PTFE (PPTFE) was prepared by mixing powder PTFE and citric acid and experienced a cold-press sintering molding process. Subsequently, textured surfaces were obtained with using a tattoo strategy. Surface-textured PPTFE was thus impregnated with polyethylene glycol 200, yielding oil-impregnated and pore-connected PPTFE.
Findings
This study found that oil-impregnated and surface-textured PPTFE exhibited excellent tribological performances with an 82% reduction in coefficient of friction and a 72.5% lowering in wear rate comparing to PPTFE.
Originality/value
This study shows an efficient strategy to improve the tribological property of PTFE using a tattoo-inspired surface texturing method.

Abstract
Purpose
While emphasizing firm performance, the existing family business literature downplays the significance of family components in shaping transgenerational sustainability. Drawing on socioemotional wealth, social identity and stewardship theories, this study aims to investigate the impact of family governance practices and owner-family identity on the transgenerational sustainability of family firms. In addition, it explored the dual mediating role of family social capital in family governance, owner-family identity and transgenerational sustainability.
Design/methodology/approach
In this quantitative study, data were collected through surveys of 393 executives working in 100 family-owned SMEs operating across Pakistan that have managed to survive beyond the first generation. The final data set was analyzed using SmartPLS4 software for hypotheses and model testing.
Findings
The results show that although family governance practices and owner-family identity positively influence the transgenerational sustainability of family firms, the route goes through family social capital, which mediates these relationships.
Practical implications
To achieve transgenerational sustainability, family firms need to incorporate the effective management of family governance practices, family identity and family social capital into their strategic goals. This requires reshaping family members’ behavior, communicating family values and fostering social connections to enhance governance practices, social identity and social capital.
Originality/value
This study provides evidence to support the connection between family governance, family identity, social capital and business sustainability. It contributes to the family business research and deepens the understanding of how these family elements impact a business’s sustainability across generations.

Abstract
Purpose
One of the problems of Islamic financial markets is the emergence of frozen assets whose market value is lower than the nominal and recorded value in financial propositions due to the lack of trading attractiveness. Valuation of these assets is usually complex, and companies operating in these markets are reluctant to divest or sell at below market prices. This study aims to evaluate the issues and challenges of frozen assets in Islamic financial markets through the convergence of experience and knowledge.
Design/methodology/approach
In this study, following the process of Colaizzi (1978), an attempt was made to understand the nature of frozen assets, using phenomenological steps to base this concept in Islamic financial markets. Therefore, based on this process, first, through interviews with experts and open coding, an attempt was made to determine the propositional themes of the phenomenon under investigation. Then, for the purpose of credibility, through critical evaluation, the propositional themes identified were matched with similar researches. It is possible to enter the propositions in the stage of forming a focal group for discussion and exchange of opinions for the cognitive separation of each proposition in the form of a component. In the following, through the Q evaluation checklist, each proposition was scored in the range of +6 to −6 to determine the conceptual clusters of frozen assets generation in the context of the study.
Findings
The results in the qualitative part during 16 interviews revealed the number of 388 open codes, after removing the excesses and repeating similar open codes, 51 propositional themes were determined based on the compatibility of the content with similar studies, it is possible to generalize it to the second step of the study. The results in the quantitative part, relying on the steps of Colaizzi’s process (1978), indicate the identification of ten conceptual clusters in the framework of paradigmatic phenomenology.
Originality/value
The theoretical contribution of this study can cover the weakness of prior researches regarding the knowledge of the nature of frozen assets generation in the financial markets, because most of the researches have been done either descriptively or focusing on the study platform of banks. On the other hand, the results of this study will help both theorists and standard setters in the financial and accounting fields to better understand the nature of frozen assets to adopt more appropriate policies in the shadow of these assets in Islamic financial markets.

Abstract
Purpose
This research sought to show that consumers with strong green attitudes modify their consumption criteria, getting them to consider green products as more aligned with their preferences. Utilizing the theory of reasoned action (TRA) and self-regulation theory, this study investigated how consumers’ green attitudes influence their intentions to buy eco-friendly products, both directly and through the mediating role of consumer-green product congruence. Furthermore, to find more specific insights for businesses, drawing on attitude-behavior-context (ABC) theory, this study compared the results between males and females.
Design/methodology/approach
To evaluate the proposed conceptual model, this study surveyed 272 consumers and analyzed the data using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with the help of Smart-PLS 4.0 software.
Findings
The results indicated that consumers with green attitudes have higher intentions to buy green products, both directly and through the mediating role of consumer-green product congruence. While, in contrast to women, no significant direct relationship between men’s green attitude and their green purchase intentions was observed, we found a stronger mediating role for green-product congruence among males than females.
Originality/value
The findings suggest that fostering consumers’ green attitudes not only enhances consumers’ perceived alignment with green products but also significantly increases their intentions to purchase eco-friendly products. Furthermore, a comparison between males and females shows that men only decide to purchase green products when they see an alignment between their preferences and those products. Green attitudes are not sufficient for men to purchase green products. This is among a few studies addressing the above issues from the perspective of TRA, self-regulation theory and ABC theory.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of the paper is to conduct a review of the literature on human-robot collaboration across different functions and activities of human resource management (HRM) and discuss its importance for change readiness in organizations.
Design/methodology/approach
A bibliometric analysis was conducted to identify emerging research themes in the fields of human resources (HR) and robotics, including change readiness. Based on the initial results of the bibliometric analysis, a systematic literature review was subsequently performed to gain a more specific understanding of research across various HRM functions and change readiness.
Findings
The results from bibliometric analysis and systematic review highlight that technological progression in HRM, such as AI-driven staffing and training techniques, improves effectiveness and personalization but raises concerns about privacy and job scrutiny. AI and robotics in performance evaluation enhance objectivity and reduce subjectivity, which can lead to disengagement. Generational differences, cultural factors and emotional quotient complicate readiness to adopt new technologies. The research emphasizes balancing technological effectiveness with employee involvement and meaningfulness to ensure successful implementation and engagement.
Originality/value
This paper synthesizes existing research, including literature, theoretical concepts and models, to identify best practices and successful strategies for implementing human-robot collaboration in HRM functions. It highlights gaps in the current literature and suggests areas for future research to advance the field of human-robot collaboration in HRM. By doing so, this paper enhances theoretical understanding while offering practical insights essential for effective change management.
