Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to present a modular multimodal flexible electronic skin that can be used for robot collision detection in human–robot interactions. This type of electronic skin will meet the requirements of performance indicators such as sensing mode, sensing domain coverage and dynamic data update rate in human–robot interactions.
Design/methodology/approach
The electronic skin uses a modular architecture, and the sensing module is designed to be adjustable in size so that it can be easily deployed on complex robot surfaces, increasing area coverage, reducing power consumption, and improving data update rates.
Findings
The authors evaluated electronic skin through experiments using a UR5 robot. Electronic skin has high static scene perception differentiation and dynamic scene perception abilities. Moreover, the robot realizes a high-speed collision response based on the electronic skin proposed in this study.
Originality/value
The proposed electronic skin provides crucial technical support for advancing robotic technologies, and holds promising prospects for industrial applications.

Abstract
Purpose
The paper aims to clarify the operation rationality of high speed trains (HSTs) under tunnel condition with the speed of 400 km/h through representative aerodynamic factors including running drag, eardrum comfort, carriages noise, aerodynamic loads on tunnel ancillary facilities and HST, micro-pressure waves, and then put forward engineering suggestions for higher speed tunnel operation based on the analysis.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on the field measurement data of CR400AF-C and CR400BF-J tunnel operation, correlations between each aerodynamic indicators with HST speed were established. By analyzing the safety reserve of aerodynamic indicators at 350 km/h and the sensitivity of each indicator to HST speed increasing and the indicators’ formation mechanism, the coupling relationship between various indicators was obtained.
Findings
The sensitivity of different aerodynamic indicators to speed variation differed. The aerodynamic indicators representing flow field around HST showed a linear relationship with HST speed including noise, eardrum comfort, aerodynamic load on HST body. The positive aerodynamic load on tunnel auxiliary facilities and the micro-pressure wave at the entrance of the tunnel have the same sensitivity to the 3th-power relation of HST speed. The over-limit proportion of micro-pressure wave was the highest among the indicators, and aerodynamic buffering measures were recommended for optimization. The open tunnel pressure relief structure is recommended, while allowing trains to pass through the tunnel at an unconditional speed of 380 km/h.
Originality/value
Comprehensive evaluation of multiple aerodynamic indicators for HST tunnel operation with higher speeds was realized. The main engineering requirements to release aerodynamic effect were identified and the optimization scheme is proposed.

The study explores the mechanism between employee demand–ability fit and promotability ratings. Moreover, we examine whether political skill moderates the relationship above.
Design/methodology/approach
The present study received 260 effective supervisor-rated questionnaires from various industries in Taiwan.
Findings
The results reveal that employee demand–ability fit positively relates to promotability ratings, and task performance mediates the above relationship. In addition, political skill positively moderates the relationship between employee demand–ability fit and task performance.
Originality/value
We used the supervisor rating for our variables to test the hypotheses.

Abstract
Purpose
The main purpose of this study is to examine the direct relationship between police officers' perceived technology utilization and their perception of external procedural injustice, as well as the indirect relationship through perceived self-legitimacy.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used survey data collected from 1,944 police officers in a northern Chinese province. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was performed to assess the direct and indirect associations between technology utilization and external procedural injustice.
Findings
Technology efficacy was negatively associated with external procedural injustice and positively associated with both self-legitimacy and public-defined legitimacy. Furthermore, officers’ self-perceived legitimacy is negatively associated with their support for procedurally unjust behaviors, while officers’ perception of public-defined legitimacy, unexpectedly, is positively related to their endorsement of procedural injustice. Conversely, technology difficulty was positively related to external procedural injustice and negatively associated with public-defined legitimacy.
Originality/value
The present study represents a first attempt to link technology utilization to external procedural injustice in the policing literature. This study provides needed evidence to support the importance role of technology utilization in shaping police officers’ occupational attitudes toward themselves and the public in an authoritarian country.

Purpose
This paper addresses the issue of internal spatial environmental pollution in non-blasting tunnel construction by proposing a comprehensive evaluation model. The model aims to provide a scientific basis for environmental pollution prevention in non-blasting tunnel construction, thereby facilitating green tunnel construction and sustainable development management.
Design/methodology/approach
The study firstly refines and constructs the evaluation index system from the perspective of pollution sources. A novel weight calculation method is introduced by integrating the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) with the ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator, and a comprehensive evaluation model for internal environmental pollution in non-blasting tunnels is established by incorporating the grey clustering evaluation method. Finally, an empirical study is conducted using the Erbaoshan Tunnel as a case study to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the model.
Findings
The study develops an evaluation system for internal environmental pollution in non-blasting tunnels and applies it to the Erbaoshan Tunnel. The results classify the pollution level as “general pollution,” confirming the rationality and applicability of the evaluation system and model while also identifying the primary pollution factors.
Originality/value
This study first developed a comprehensive evaluation system for environmental pollution in non-blasting tunnel construction from the pollution source perspective, making the system more comprehensive. Additionally, it innovatively combined AHP–OWA and gray clustering methods to scientifically assess pollution levels, providing valuable scientific guidance for the evaluation and management of non-blasting tunnels and similar underground projects.

Abstract
Purpose
The study aims to investigate the effects of bodily feelings on preference for robotic service by examining direct and indirect sensations from physical and metaphorically projected bodily feelings.
Design/methodology/approach
Through four empirical experiments involving video and recall tasks to metaphorically manipulate participants’ bodily warmth and directly manipulate ambient temperature, the authors explored the mediating role of the need for warmth and the moderating role of robotic features (warmth vs competence) on consumer willingness to engage with and pay for robotic services.
Findings
Warmth perception exhibits a positive correlation with robotic services. This relationship is mediated by the need for warmth. Moreover, when customers experience a sensation of physical warmth, they show a greater willingness to pay for a robotic service exhibiting competence versus warmth.
Research limitations/implications
This research contributes to the literature by integrating the feelings-as-information theory and the mind perception view to understand the judgment of robotic services. It extends the application of the embodied cognition theory, highlighting the significance of bodily feelings as a source of information in customer decision-making processes. Furthermore, this research explores the metaphoric influence of service features on bodily responses, providing new insights into the role of embodiment and mental perception in robotic service evaluations.
Practical implications
Managers should consider using different robots based on seasonal settings to meet customers’ need for warmth. Understanding customers’ bodily feelings and the metaphoric influence of service features contributes to the design of more effective and customer-centric robotic services.
Originality/value
This inquiry explores the metaphoric influence of service features on bodily responses, providing new insights into the role of embodiment and mental perception in robotic service evaluations.

Abstract
Purpose
With the accumulation of theoretical research and practical experience in the field of garment production research, it is imperative to methodically analyze and reflect on the achievements that have been made. This review aims to systematically map the academic landscape of research articles on garment production, elucidate the evolutionary trajectory of this discipline, identify emerging research frontiers and provide insights into its prospects.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on the Web of Science core database, 307 research articles were systematically analyzed by CiteSpace software. The study employed bibliometric and thematic analyses to offer in-depth insights into the dynamics and evolution of research on garment production.
Findings
Results reveal that keyword analysis emphasizes the significance of topics such as apparel assembly line, lean production, circular economy, fuzzy logic, global production networks, social sustainability and supply chain management in garment production research. Citation analysis demonstrates that articles related to environmental impact, supply chain management, production process and production technology constitute the knowledge base and core of garment production research. Eight principal research themes emerge: customized garment production, production technology, quality assurance, equipment, production lines, supply chain management, environmental impact and social and human impact. Future research hotspots will focus more on sustainable, intelligent and digital clothing production.
Originality/value
The findings systematically sort out the hotspots and trends in garment production, establish knowledge structures and display them through intuitive representations. The rich insights set the stage for the development of garment production and provide future guidance for theoretical research.

Purpose
There is a dearth of knowledge regarding how user dependency offers valuable resources to develop the intellectual capital of social streaming apps (SSAs) companies. This study aims to integrate major conceptual components of the UandD model, identify contextualized goal-oriented SSA dependency and empirically evaluate their interrelated user-dependency relationships in the SSA context.
Design/methodology/approach
A mixed-methods approach was utilized in this study. First, user gratifications were elicited through a qualitative approach, considering the exploratory stage of the SSA phenomenon. Second, statistical methods were applied to investigate and extract the sub-dimensions of SSA dependency. At last, a research model was developed grounded on the UandD model and empirically validated using the quantitative approach.
Findings
The results validated the gratification-dependency-attitude-behavior relationships hypothesized by the UandD framework in SSA. The role of user-SSA dependency in enhancing intellectual capital in the social media industry has been highlighted in this study.
Research limitations/implications
This research not only provides an opportunity for the UandD model to realize its theoretical potential as envisioned by scholars but also contributes to the scholarship on social streaming apps and media dependency theory by conceptualizing goal-oriented dependency in SSAs.
Practical implications
The research results will guide digital media practitioners to a more nuanced understanding of the relationships between their users and modern digital media apps and thus empower the practitioners to better manage their intellectual capital based on the facilitation of their users’ dependency.
Originality/value
This work is one of the pioneers in contextualizing the UandD model in the SSA field, refining and measuring the SSA dependency and its distinct subdimensions and employing mixed-methods to offer a comprehensive understanding of how user dependency boosts intellectual capital in the SSA industry.

Abstract
Purpose
This study examines the relationship between green entrepreneurship and environmental quality in selected Asian economies. The impact of green entrepreneurship dimensions, i.e. renewable energy utilization, innovation orientation, green funding and resource efficiency is empirically assessed on environmental quality. The research assists in opening the “black box” mechanism of how green entrepreneurship affects the environmental pillar of sustainability.
Design/methodology/approach
An analysis of 11 Asian countries is conducted over the period from 2000 to 2019, using panel regression techniques to examine the link between green entrepreneurship dimensions and environmental quality indicators.
Findings
The findings reveal that all four dimensions of green entrepreneurship have an inverse relationship with carbon emissions and ecological footprint while showing a positive relationship with the load capacity factor. This implies that green entrepreneurship contributes positively to environmental sustainability by enhancing the ecosystem’s resilience and capacity to support life.
Practical implications
We advocate for policymakers to prioritize green entrepreneurship to stimulate innovation for energy transition and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, creating a conducive atmosphere for green entrepreneurs can spur job creation, economic growth and societal well-being, thus fostering a more resilient and sustainable future for all.
Originality/value
In this study, we adopted a multidimensional approach for measuring green entrepreneurship, which represents an advancement over existing literature that predominantly relied on renewable energy consumption to gauge the green entrepreneurship phenomenon at the macro level.
