Abstract
Purpose
Following identity theory from a symbolic-interactionist perspective, we explore the post-retirement role identity reformation of public company CEOs to uncover the process elements through which role identities reform after retirement from highly salient roles.
Design/methodology/approach
We applied a self-relevant qualitative exploration based on 30 in-depth interviews and employed an interpretative phenomenological analysis.
Findings
The findings reveal six interrelated, contemporaneous and contiguous underlying process elements within post-retirement liminality and emergence clusters, which shape work and nonwork role identities that contribute to retirement stability and well-being.
Practical implications
The research provides a basis for organizations and human resource specialists to guide retiring senior executives on the psychological effects, cognitive processes and practical considerations of the retirement transition.
Originality/value
The study provides a framework for understanding how the post-retirement void evokes novel appraisals of self, others and context. These appraisals act as stimuli of an integrated cognitive, social and behavioral work role identity reformation process.

Abstract
Purpose
In the contemporary globalized era, where conscientious and inclusive leadership (IL) are increasingly valued, cultivating altruistic prosocial tendencies (APT) among future leaders becomes critical. However, a significant gap persists in understanding the optimal approach for assisting young leaders with commendable social sensitivity. This study aims to examine the connection between IL and a leader’s APT and focuses on the moderating role of internalized values (IV) among young leaders in Indonesia.
Design/methodology/approach
The research adopted a quantitative methodology, using an online survey to gather data from 12.584 participants in the “Kampus Mengajar” program. The data analysis is conducted using structural equation modeling.
Findings
The study highlights the significant association between IL and APT among leaders, emphasizing the importance of inclusive approaches in fostering prosocial behavior. Additionally, it reveals the moderating impact of IVs, indicating that leaders who embrace values promoting societal belongingness are more inclined toward altruistic actions. This nuanced insight contributes to theoretical discourse and offers practical implications for organizations and educational institutions aiming to cultivate socially conscious leadership among young leaders.
Originality/value
This study advances scholarly understanding by exploring how IL shapes APT among young leaders, integrating insights from Role Identity and Role Identity Salience theory. By examining the moderating role of IVs, the study offers nuanced insights into the conditions that enhance this relationship.

Abstract
Purpose
The study aims to investigate the influence of critical socio-cultural factors common in developing countries on the ethical behaviour of professional accountants and the extent to which their self-control strengthens or weakens the relationships.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper relied on the quantitative approach to collect data from 366 professional accountants and used the partial least squares structural equation modelling technique to test hypotheses in the study.
Findings
This paper established that susceptibility to positive peer influence, materialism and political trust influence the ethical behaviour of professional accountants. Also, self-control moderates the relationship between susceptibility to positive peer influence and ethical behaviour of professional accountants. However, self-control does not moderate the relationships between materialism and ethical behaviour as well as political trust and ethical behaviour of professional accountants.
Practical implications
The regulatory institutions should review the existing ethical codes and standards to clarify the guidelines on conflicts of interest, financial temptations, materialistic influence and other related matters. Further, training programs must integrate self-control lessons. These programs should focus on enhancing self-control skills, particularly in situations where peer influence and political mistrust are entrenched.
Originality/value
This paper demonstrates the novelty in how critical socio-cultural factors could be contingent on individual circumstances and personal idiosyncrasies in influencing ethical behaviour.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to examine how fluid flow and heat transfer are affected by the influence of hybrid nanofluids flowing across a stagnation zone of a stretching curved surface. Stagnation point flow has garnered considerable attention over the past few decades. This is because many technical applications, such as the cooling of nuclear reactors and rotating equipment divisions, rely on stagnation-point flow.
Design/methodology/approach
A thorough analysis is conducted of the impacts of several regulating parameters on fluid flow and thermal performance, including the radiation parameter, heat source parameter, mixed convection parameter, porosity parameter curvature and nanoparticle concentration. The laws governing the field of flow equations are transformed by similarity substitutions into two nonlinear ordinary differential equations, which are then solved numerically using Maple. The MR-Solve technique in the built-in Maple package was used. The MR-Solve technique was used to numerically solve highly coupled ordinary differential equation problems. This approach produced highly precise and consistent results. It also provides the best performance while using a minimum amount of CPU and the shortest phrases.
Findings
The main conclusions of this study show that axial velocity drops, while radial velocity increases as the mixed convection parameter increases. The rate of heat transmission and skin friction is higher for hybrid nanoparticles with volume fraction percentile (0.01–0.03) than for those with volume fraction percentile (0.1–0.3).
Research limitations/implications
Further research on this topic could examine a broader range of parameter values, suction/injection, entropy, mass equation, micropolar fluid, ternary hybrid nanofluid and Newtonian heating flow on a curved stretching surface.
Practical implications
By investigating a novel physical design that combines the various effect with stagnation flow, this study adds value and offers insights and prospective improvements in the discipline of heat fluid mechanics. Mathematical modeling or experimental studies in a variety of multiphysical contexts can be used to achieve this. Heat exchangers, crystalline procedures, microelectronic machines, systems for conserving energy, integrating operations, food manufacturing, climate control, purification and other engineering domains can all benefit from the geometric configurations investigated in this study. The results of this study greatly aid in optimizing thermal performance in a variety of application domains. This study is novel because it compares several volume fraction percentiles.
Originality/value
A stretching curved surface’s stagnation zone is traversed by hybrid nanofluids, offering insights into how curvature affects heat transfer and fluid flow efficiency. The results aid in the design and improvement of the energy transfer efficiencies for a range of commercial and biological purposes. The results offer possibilities for increased efficiency in a range of applications by developing hybrid nanofluid flow control methods and helping to create ideal thermal systems.

Purpose
In this study, we present a novel parametric iterative method for computing the polar decomposition and determining the matrix sign function.
Design/methodology/approach
This method demonstrates exceptional efficiency, requiring only two matrix-by-matrix multiplications and one matrix inversion per iteration. Additionally, we establish that the convergence order of the proposed method is three and four, and confirm that it is asymptotically stable.
Findings
In conclusion, we extend the iterative method to solve the Yang-Baxter-like matrix equation. The efficiency indices of the proposed methods are shown to be superior compared to previous approaches.
Originality/value
The efficiency and accuracy of our proposed methods are demonstrated through various high-dimensional numerical examples, highlighting their superiority over established methods.

Abstract
Purpose
Prior research has shown that implementing International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) increases foreign direct investments at the macroeconomic (country) level. This study aims to demonstrate that the implementation of mandatory adoption of IFRS positively influences foreign shareholdings at the company level in Saudi Arabia.
Design/methodology/approach
The fixed effects regression model is used to estimate the impact of the adoption of IFRS on foreign ownership in a panel data set for Saudi Arabia over the period 2010 through 2021.
Findings
This study finds that IFRS adoption reduces information asymmetry and increases comparability, which attracts foreign investors. It also finds that firms with high foreign ownership have greater capital expenditures post-IFRS adoption, suggesting that foreign investors encourage firms to align their interests with those of shareholders and make more long-term investments. This paper demonstrates that firms increased their long-term investments and garnered greater free cash flows after adopting IFRS. Finally, this paper observes a positive association between IFRS employment and market liquidity.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first research to reveal that, following the compulsory adoption of IFRS, foreign shareholdings have a favorable effect on corporate investments (capital expenditures and property, plant and equipment) at the micro (firm) level. It has been motivated by the assertion that a lack of portfolio investments results primarily from an asymmetry of information, which can be mitigated by providing high quality comparable financial information based on IFRS.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to develop a neurocomputational approach using the Levenberg–Marquardt artificial neural network (LM-ANN) to analyze flow and heat transfer characteristics in mixed convection involving radiative magnetohydrodynamic hybrid nanofluids. The focus is on the influence of morphological nanolayers at the fluid–nanoparticle interface, which significantly impacts coupled heat and mass transfer processes.
Design/methodology/approach
This research simplifies a complex system of higher-order nonlinear coupled partial differential equations governing the flow between orthogonal coaxially porous disks into ordinary differential equations via similarity transformations. These equations are solved using the shooting method, and parametric studies are conducted to observe the impact of varying important parameters. The resulting data sets are used to train, validate and test the LM-ANN model, which ensures high predictive accuracy. Machine learning and curve-fitting techniques further enhance the model’s capability to generate detailed visualizations.
Findings
The findings of this study indicate that increased nanolayer thickness (0.4–1.6) significantly improves thermal performance, while changes in the chemical reaction parameter (0.2–1) have a notable effect on enhancing the Sherwood number. These results highlight the critical role of morphological nanolayers in optimizing thermal and mass transfer efficiency in MHD nanofluids.
Originality/value
This research provides a novel neurocomputational framework for understanding the thermal and mass transfer dynamics in MHD nanofluids by incorporating the effects of interfacial nanolayers, an aspect often overlooked in conventional studies. The use of LM-ANN trained on computational data sets enables high-fidelity predictive analysis, offering new insights into the enhancement of thermal and mass transfer efficiency in hybrid nanofluid systems.

Purpose
The aim of the study is to understand the transformative impact of ChatGPT on artificial intelligence (AI) research, its applications, implications, challenges and potential to shape future AI trends. The study also seeks to assess the relevance and quality of research output through citation and bibliographic coupling analysis.
Design/methodology/approach
This study employed a comprehensive bibliometric analysis using Biblioshiny and VOSviewer to investigate the research trends, influential entities and leading contributors in the domain of AI, focusing on the ChatGPT model.
Findings
The analysis revealed a high prevalence of AI-related terms, indicating a significant interest in and engagement with ChatGPT in AI studies and applications. “Nature” and “Thorp H.H.” emerged as the most cited source and author, respectively, while the USA surfaced as the leading contributor in the field.
Research limitations/implications
While the findings provide a comprehensive overview of the ChatGPT research landscape, it is important to note that the conclusions drawn are only as current as the data used.
Practical implications
The study highlights potential collaboration opportunities and signals areas of research that might benefit from increased focus or diversification. It serves as a valuable resource for researchers, practitioners and policymakers for strategic planning and decision-making in AI research, specifically in relation to ChatGPT.
Originality/value
This study is one of the first to provide a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the ChatGPT research domain, its multidimensional impact and potential. It offers valuable insights for a range of stakeholders in understanding the current landscape and future directions of ChatGPT in AI.

Purpose
Aficionados of wine festivals, a component of wine tourism experience, engage in vigorous online discussions that influence fellow travelers’ purchase behaviors. This study aims to delve into these overlooked discussions, identifying emotions, topics and assessing their usefulness in TripAdvisor’s Travel Forums for two US wine festivals: Taste of Yountville and Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, located in traditional and nontraditional wine tourism destinations.
Design/methodology/approach
The study uses state-of-art sentiment analysis and topic modeling methods to extract emotions and underlying latent topics in travel forum discussions. Drawing from information theory, two regression analyses are performed on 10,677 forum posts to examine how the extracted Ekman’s emotions and key underlying topics influence the helpfulness of wine forum posts for each festival.
Findings
While three topics were identified in Epcot and four in Yountville, both festival platforms highlight travelers’ common preferences for “culinary experience” and “planning” attributes but reveal notable differences in their utility. Other shared novel findings include the importance of “anger” and “surprise” emotions on the helpfulness of forum posts.
Practical implications
These findings enhance wine festival managers’ and destination planners’ understanding of online travelers’ preferences and cognitive evaluation of user-generated contents’ usefulness. This marketing intelligence informs strategies for boosting the wine destination’s economic development.
Originality/value
This research offers a novel comparative analysis of social media on wine festival tourism experiences in diverse regions. Unlike hotel reviews, typically posted after consumption, forums offer unique and broader perspectives on discussions before, during, and after experiencing the wine festival.

Purpose
With a growing preference for active, authentic, and cultural experiences over traditional ones, creative tourism has garnered significant academic interest. This study offers a comprehensive review of creative tourism research, delineating its evolution, prominent contributors, pivotal areas, and prospective trajectories through a bibliometric analysis.
Design/methodology/approach
Employing a bibliometric analysis using the biblioshiny and VOSviewer software, this study systematically reviews 198 articles on creative tourism identified and retrieved from the Scopus database.
Findings
A notable increase in creative tourism research is witnessed in recent times, with Portugal and the Netherlands leading in publications and citations, respectively. This review also pinpoints key authors, countries, institutions, and journals shaping the field, and presents emerging themes such as authenticity and creative experience, culture and heritage, urban and rural contexts, and co-creation in creative tourism.
Practical implications
Identifying core research contributors (authors, countries, institutions, journals) and contributions (themes, topics) assists academics in seeking collaborations and shaping future research. Practitioners are advised to adapt these trends (authenticity, co-creation, sustainability) into their strategic planning to meet market demands.
Originality/value
This study offers a seminal review of creative tourism through a bibliometric analysis, a technique that leverages the power of technology (data, software) to engage in retrospection and projection—the hallmark of benchmarking studies across fields, including tourism.
