Abstract
In this chapter, the authors outline what replication research is and explain why this could be a helpful tool to support the trustworthiness and credibility of (earlier) research findings. Replication research has received increased attention in the light of the so-called ‘replication crisis’: a series of studies in psychology failed to reproduce the findings from previous studies. In higher education, replication research is relatively rare, and researchers should be aware of various challenges. The authors take stock of studies on higher education – most of these in the area of teaching and learning – that have used a replication design. Somewhat surprisingly, many studies in our field are not sufficiently clear about what exactly has been replicated and in some cases the term replication was misused. We conclude that replication research can be useful, but researchers carefully need to consider whether their approach indeed contributes to increased trustworthiness and credibility of earlier findings.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to explore the role of sustainable fashion knowledge in shaping individual sustainable responsibility within the dynamic landscape of the fashion industry from a novel perspective, by exploring the intricate interplay between sustainable fashion knowledge, emotional and spiritual sustainable capacities.
Design/methodology/approach
A quantitative study was used, and a causal model with partial least squares structural equation modeling was developed. A total of 211 valid responses were obtained, and data were analysed to confirm the proposed hypotheses.
Findings
The findings confirm the positive impact of sustainable fashion knowledge on individual sustainable responsibility, mediated by both spiritual and emotional sustainable capacities. This study underscores the significance of individuals in influencing societal norms, prompting fashion companies to adopt sustainable practices.
Research limitations/implications
The proposed conceptual framework integrates insights from the emotional and spiritual knowledge dynamics. This study uncovers the pathways through which individuals contribute to a more sustainable society.
Originality/value
The study not only advances the understanding of sustainable fashion practices but also provides actionable insights for policymakers, businesses and individuals seeking to foster a culture of sustainability in the fashion ecosystem.

Abstract
Purpose
This article investigates the application of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in experiential learning for authentic assessment in higher education. Recognized for its human-like content generation, GenAI has garnered widespread interest, raising concerns regarding its reliability, ethical considerations and overall impact. The purpose of this study is to explore the transformative capabilities and limitations of GenAI for experiential learning.
Design/methodology/approach
The study uses “thing ethnography” and “incremental prompting” to delve into the perspectives of ChatGPT 3.5, a prominent GenAI model. Through semi-structured interviews, the research prompts ChatGPT 3.5 on critical aspects such as conceptual clarity, integration of GenAI in educational settings and practical applications within the context of authentic assessment. The design examines GenAI’s potential contributions to reflective thinking, hands-on learning and genuine assessments, emphasizing the importance of responsible use.
Findings
The findings underscore GenAI’s potential to enhance experiential learning in higher education. Specifically, the research highlights GenAI’s capacity to contribute to reflective thinking, hands-on learning experiences and the facilitation of genuine assessments. Notably, the study emphasizes the significance of responsible use in harnessing the capabilities of GenAI for educational purposes.
Originality/value
This research showcases the application of GenAI in operations management education, specifically within lean health care. The study offers insights into its capabilities by exploring the practical implications of GenAI in a specific educational domain through thing ethnography and incremental prompting. Additionally, the article proposes future research directions, contributing to the originality of the work and opening avenues for further exploration in the integration of GenAI in education.

Abstract
Over the last decades, tourism has become a fundamental engine of both developed and developing economies. A wide set of negative social, economic and environmental implications of tourism have been recognised along with the recognised positive effects. In this vein, sustainable tourism principles have been developed and widely accepted as a means to guarantee the long-term sustained and sustainable growth of local economies relying on tourism. The incorporation of these principles into the policymaking process requires the simultaneous consideration of a broad set of interests and goals, often conflicting among them. Thus, promoting sustainable tourism requires governments to adopt a strategic approach to planning, through goal-oriented, participatory and comprehensive governance mechanisms. Based on these, the following chapter is aimed at presenting a novel decision support system for policymakers, in which sustainable tourism principles and measures are accounted for, together with other purely economic and strategic issues. This strategic approach is operationalised through a multi-objective optimisation model. The main results show that the inclusion of sustainable tourism principles into the planning phase of public investments allows to boost the potentially positive effects of tourism on local economies, while not hampering the achievement of other policy goals, such as expenditure efficiency and consistency of investments.

Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is widely used in higher education teaching and learning. This trend of AI integration will continue to emerge within the education system. To stay ahead of the curve in the education realm, educators shall involve the usage of AI in teaching activities, assessments, and learning experiences. This book chapter aimed to highlight the challenges faced by higher education while proposing refined solutions to educators in involving the usage of AI tools in their teaching pedagogy. The suggested solutions were drafted from three different perspectives of AI to be integrated into its curriculum, namely the 3As triadic approach. Activities are identified as the essential asset to fostering a collaborative learning environment encouraging students to make use of cocreated AI in activities creation. Meanwhile, assessment preparation requires rigorous restrictions on AI usage to portray higher order thinking skills while abiding by ethical guidelines and legal framework. Academic content is prudent in ensuring latest findings and research are credible while bridging the gap between interactive academic materials with students' learning outcomes. Concurrently, we highlighted several approaches to achieve AI collaborative learning and enhance students' experience.

Abstract
Virtual reality (VR) presents an important technological advancement that can enable management researchers to improve their laboratory work and test theories previously considered untestable. VR places a participant in a virtual environment completely designed and controlled by the research team. These environments can range from anything as benign as a regular corporate board meeting or a job interview to as hostile as a CEO answering questions in front of Congress or witnessing sexual harassment in an office hallway. A key feature of experimental work using VR is drastic improvements in external and ecological validity – VR allows researchers to transition experiments from measuring how participants self-report they would react in the real-world to measuring how they actually behave when confronted with a scenario literally in front of their eyes. While alluring, the design, coding, and implementation of studies using VR adds technical complexity to projects and care must be taken to be intentional throughout the process. In this manuscript, we provide guidance to management scholars to understanding VR, its potential applications, and the considerations one must undertake when creating studies using VR. Overall, we advocate the use of VR by management researchers in their work and introduce both a roadmap and best practices to jump-start such endeavors.

Abstract
This chapter recognizes and ranks the factors that impact the adoption of mobile commerce (MC) by users. The results showed that compatibility, perceived usefulness (PU), perceived risk (PR), mobility, and perceived cost (PC) have a significant effect on the adoption of MC by users. The results of multilayer perceptron (MLP) showed that mobility, among other model variables, had the greatest impact on the adoption of MC, and PC had the lowest effect on the adoption of MC. The comparison of the MLP model with linear regression illustrates that the predictive power of MLP outperforms the linear regression model in predicting MC adoption.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine the effect of political conditions on the relationship between corporate governance and firm performance in two sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries, Ghana and Kenya.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used a panel data methodology, examining data from a sample of 72 companies (Ghana: 25 and Kenya: 47) from 2018 to 2022. This study used panel quantile regression and the Huber M-estimation robust least squares regression methods.
Findings
The research reported that larger boards, diversity and ownership concentration do not affect business performance while board independence improves corporate success in both countries. The findings about chief executive officer (CEO) duality were mixed. In Ghana, CEO duality has a positive effect on firm performance, but in Kenya, the study finds that CEO duality hurts firms’ performance. The results found that higher levels of institutional ownership decreased firm performance in both countries. The research found that Ghana’s political environment had a greater impact on corporate governance and business performance nexus than Kenya’s.
Research limitations/implications
The research is limited to Ghana and Kenya. This study emphasises the necessity for governments in both countries to maintain a stable political environment, implement policies that encourage economic and policy continuity and reduce political uncertainty to improve business conditions.

Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is unique because it is the first in SSA to address a research gap by investigating a comparative analysis of the relationship between corporate governance, political environments and firm performance in two distinct countries with different political situations.

Abstract
Purpose
This study evaluates the reliability of a multi-state system (MSS) with n components, each having two s-dependent components via copulas.
Design/methodology/approach
The study employs copula functions to model dependencies between components in an MSS. Specifically, it analyzes a (1,1)-out-of-n three-state system using Frank and Clayton copulas for reliability evaluation. A simulation-based case study of a micro-inverter solar panel system is also conducted using the Farlie–Gumbel–Morgenstern (FGM) copula.
Findings
The study finds that incorporating component dependencies significantly impacts the reliability of multi-state systems. Using Frank and Clayton copulas, the analysis shows how dependency structures alter system performance compared to independent models. The case study on a micro-inverter solar panel system, using the FGM copula, demonstrates that real-world systems with dependent components exhibit different performances. Also some effects of dependence parameters on the performance characteristics of the system such as mean residual lifetime and mean past lifetime are also examined.
Originality/value
This study is original in its use of copula functions to evaluate the performance of multi-state systems, particularly focusing on a (1,1)-out-of-n three-state system with dependent components. By applying Frank and Clayton copulas, the research advances reliability analysis by considering component dependencies, often overlooked in traditional models. Additionally, a case study on a micro-inverter solar panel system using the FGM copula highlights the practical application of these methods.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to examine how informational faultlines on a board affect the management of knowledge owned by directors and the consequences on organizational performance. In this study, informational faultlines are defined as hypothetical lines that divide a group into relatively homogeneous subgroups based on the alignment of several informational attributes among board members.
Design/methodology/approach
The study uses unique hand-collected panel data covering 7,247 board members at 106 publicly traded firms to provide strong support for the hypothesized U-shaped relationship. The authors use a fixed effects approach and a system generalized method of moments approach to test the hypothesis.
Findings
The study finds that the relationship between informational faultlines on a board and organizational performance is U shaped, with the least optimal organizational performance experienced when boards have moderate informational faultlines. More specifically, informational faultlines within boards are negatively related to organizational performance across the weak-to-moderate range of informational faultlines and positively related to organizational performance across the moderate-to-strong range.
Research limitations/implications
By explaining the mechanisms through which informational faultlines are related to organizational performance, the authors contribute to the literature in a number of ways. By conceptualizing how the management of knowledge plays an important role in the particular setting of corporate boards, the authors add not only to literature on knowledge management but also to the faultline and corporate governance literature.
Originality/value
This study offers a rationale for prior mixed findings by providing an alternative theoretical basis to explain the effect of informational faultlines within boards on organizational performance. To advance the field, the authors build on the concept of knowledge demonstrability to illuminate how informational faultlines affect the management of knowledge within boards, which will translate to organizational performance.
