Abstract
Purpose
The incorporation of phosphide additives is regarded as a highly effective strategy for enhancing the lubricative qualities of base oils. This study aims to assess the lubrication behavior and efficacy of various phosphide additives in polyethylsiloxane (PES) through the employment of the Schwingum Reibung Verschleiss test methodology, across a temperature range from ambient to 300°C.
Design/methodology/approach
PES demonstrated commendable lubrication capabilities within the Si3N4/M50 system, primarily attributable to the Si-O frictional reaction film at the interface. This film undergoes disintegration as the temperature escalates, leading to heightened wear. Moreover, the phosphide additives were found to ameliorate the issues encountered by PES in the Si3N4/M50 system, characterized by numerous boundary lubrication failure instances. A chemical film comprising P-Fe-O was observed to form at the interface; however, at elevated temperatures, disintegration of some phosphide films precipitated lubrication failures, as evidenced by a precipitous rise in the coefficient of friction.
Findings
The results show that a phosphide reactive film can be formed and a reduction in wear rate is achieved, which is reduced by 64.7% from 2.98 (for pure PES at 300°C) to 1.05 × 10–9 μm3/N m (for triphenyl phosphite at 300°C).
Originality/value
The data derived from this investigation offer critical insights for the selection and deployment of phosphide additives within high-temperature lubrication environments pertinent to PES.

Abstract
In smart cities striving for innovation, development, and prosperity, hydrogen offers a promising path for decarbonization. However, its effective integration into the evolving energy landscape requires understanding regional intricacies and identifying areas for improvement. This chapter examines hydrogen transport from production to utilization, evaluating technologies’ pros, cons, and process equations and using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) tool to assess these technologies based on multiple criteria. It also explores barriers and opportunities in hydrogen transport within the 21st-century energy transition, providing insights for overcoming challenges. Evaluation criteria for hydrogen transport technologies were ranked by relative importance, with energy efficiency topping the list, followed by energy density, infrastructure requirements, cost, range, and flexibility. Safety, technological maturity, scalability, and compatibility with existing infrastructure received lower weights. Hydrogen transport technologies were categorized into three performance levels: low, medium, and high. Hydrogen tube trailers ranked lowest, while chemical hydrides, hydrail, liquid organic hydrogen carriers, hydrogen pipelines, and hydrogen blending exhibited moderate performance. Compressed hydrogen gas, liquid hydrogen, ammonia carriers, and hydrogen fueling stations demonstrated the highest performance. The proposed framework is crucial for next-gen smart cities, cutting emissions, boosting growth, and speeding up development with a strong hydrogen infrastructure. This makes the region a sustainable tech leader, improving air quality and well-being. Aligned with Gulf Region goals, it is key for smart cities. Policymakers, industries, and researchers can use these insights to overcome barriers and seize hydrogen transport tech opportunities.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to reveal the influence of the grooved texture parameters on the lubrication performance of circular pocket-roller pairs in cylindrical roller bearings.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, the thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication mathematical model of the grooved texture circular pocket-roller pair was established, the finite difference method and successive over-relaxation method were used to solve the model, the influence of texture quantity, texture depth and texture area ratio on circumferential bearing capacity, friction coefficient, maximum temperature rise, stiffness and damping of the circular pocket-roller pairs were analyzed.
Findings
The results show that texture quantity, texture depth and texture area ratio significantly influence the static and dynamic characteristics of circular pocket-roller pairs. The suitable surface groove texture parameters can dramatically improve the circumferential bearing capacity, reduce the friction coefficient, inhibit the maximum temperature rise and increase the stiffness and damping of the circular pocket-roller pairs.
Originality/value
The research in this paper can provide a theoretical basis for the optimization design of pockets in cylindrical roller bearings to reduce friction and vibration.

Abstract
Purpose
As e-commerce platforms and merchants increasingly adopt promotion preannouncements, understanding their spillover effects on other products within and across brands is crucial. This study aims to comprehensively investigate these spillover effects to optimize the use of promotion preannouncements.
Design/methodology/approach
The study uses quantitative analysis of real-world e-commerce data and four between-subjects experiments to examine the spillover effects of promotion preannouncements.
Findings
Promotion preannouncements negatively impact products within the same brand and category, while positively influencing products in different categories. Additionally, preannouncements create negative spillover effects on products within the same brand echelon. Moreover, powerful brands are more likely to harm different-echelon products compared to weak brands.
Research limitations/implications
The experiment has its own limitations because there will be differences between the simulated scenario and the real shopping scenario. Considering the practical factors, randomized field experiments cannot be conducted at the e-commerce platform level.
Practical implications
The findings provide managerial insights on brands and merchants to arrange the preannounced products and products being sold.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the field of preannouncements by developing new knowledge through a combination of quantitative analysis using e-commerce data and experiments, capturing the novel phenomenon of promotion preannouncement and its spillover effects. We study the preannouncement phase of promotions, thus enriching the multistage research on promotions. In addition, this paper innovatively divides the spillover effects of promotion preannouncement into four components and uses brand echelon as a categorization factor.

Abstract
Purpose
This study intends to (1) systematically review methodological, theoretical and empirical aspects of dynamic capabilities (DCs) research in international marketing; (2) identify problematic areas and gaps in the reviewed literature and (c) provide directions to address problematic aspects and fill the gaps in future research.
Design/methodology/approach
The study applies a systematic literature review methodology and covers 97 articles published between 2001 and 2022 in peer-reviewed journals ranked 2, 3, 4 and 4* in the Academic Journal Guide 2021.
Findings
The content analysis shows that (1) methodologically, the literature is dominated by single-country studies conducted mostly in Asia and Europe on a cross-section of industries, mostly adopting survey-based approaches with a cross-sectional time emphasis; (2) theoretically, dynamic capabilities view is mainly accompanied by resource-based view, followed by institutional-, organizational learning- and internationalization theories; and (3) according to the nomological network, DCs are predicted by firm-characteristics, factors related to networks/relationship/partnerships and managerial characteristics, while they act as predictors of performance-related, strategy-related and operational change and renewal-specific outcomes. Several problematic aspects and gaps for each part of the review are diagnosed.
Originality/value
The authors provide a comprehensive assessment of current knowledge on methodological, theoretical and empirical aspects of the relevant literature, map a nomological network of variables surrounding DCs in international marketing research and offer future research directions capitalizing on the problems and gaps identified in the review.

Abstract
Purpose
This research aims to enhance understanding of outsourcing dynamics from emerging markets by employing a bibliometric analysis of relevant scholarly articles. The study explores publication patterns, citation networks, author collaborations and contributions by different countries, offering insights for researchers and practitioners investigating outsourcing in these markets.
Design/methodology/approach
A comprehensive bibliometric analysis was conducted using 197 articles from the SCOPUS database, spanning January 1999 to June 2023. Established bibliometric techniques were utilized to analyze publication patterns, citation networks, author collaborations and country contributions, identifying key research themes and influential authors and institutions.
Findings
The study identified eight distinct research clusters, highlighting interdisciplinary collaborations, influential authors like Thomas Frisanco and Erdener Kaynak, and significant contributions from the United States and the UK. Notable organizational collaborations include the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Miami. These findings provide valuable insights into outsourcing practices and research trends in emerging markets.
Research limitations/implications
The study acknowledges limitations such as sampling bias, language bias and publication bias, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. Future research should strive for more diverse and representative samples, including non-English publications and studies with non-significant results, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of outsourcing dynamics.
Practical implications
The findings offer practical insights for organizations considering outsourcing from emerging markets, guiding strategic decision-making and policy development. Understanding publication patterns and research themes can help organizations navigate location selection, vendor management, risk mitigation and performance evaluation in these markets.
Social implications
Outsourcing can significantly impact employment, income generation, skill development and overall economic development in emerging markets. Policymakers can use these insights to foster business growth, infrastructure development and investment incentives, contributing to economic growth and employment opportunities.
Originality/value
This study provides a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of outsourcing from emerging markets, filling a gap in the existing literature. Corporate donation behavior sends two financial-related signals, i.e. sufficient cash flow and self-confidence in future earnings. This paper aims to investigate whether these financial-related signals released by corporate donation drive investors to make more optimistic forecasts about the firm’s future earnings per share (EPS) and whether this effect varies across different historical earnings trends.
Design/methodology/approach
This study is based on a controlled online experiment with 553 MBA students.
Findings
The results demonstrate that a financial signaling mechanism works, but it is moderated by historical earnings trends. When the earnings trend is always increasing, the more the number of financial signals received, the higher the investors’ EPS forecast; when the earnings trend is fluctuating (down then up or up then down), investors’ EPS forecast is higher when they receive financial signal(s) than when they do not, but no additive effect occurs from receiving one signal to two signals; when the earnings trend is always decreasing, investors’ EPS forecast is irrelevant to the number of financial signals received.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first to experimentally investigate a possible mechanism to explain investors’ positive response to corporate social responsibility (CSR) (specifically, corporate donation) disclosures – the financial signaling mechanism. This study also extends the research on the impact of financial information on investors’ use of nonfinancial information by investigating the moderating role of historical earnings trends on the financial signaling mechanism of the CSR effect.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to control the deformation of a thin wall CrZrCu cylinder components (wall thickness 5 mm, diameter 400 mm) during thermal spray alumina-titania (AT13) coating by adjusting the spray parameters without deteriorating its quality evidently.
Design/methodology/approach
The deformation was controlled by lowering the temperature of the component in the way of adjusting the spray parameters. The main parameters adjust included extending the spraying distance, from normally 120 mm to 140 mm, decreasing plasma power from 50to 42 kW. An alumina-titanium (AT13) ceramic coating was chosen for protecting the substrate from corrosion. Microscopic morphology and phase analysis, insulation resistance testing, neutral salt test and electrochemical method were used to analyze the anti-corrosion and insulation performances of the coating.
Findings
The results indicate that, after adjusting the spraying parameters, the coating has a relatively high porosity, with an average value of 8.96 ± 0.77%. The bonding strength of the coating is relatively low, with an average value of 17.69 ± 0.85 MPa. However, after sealing, the polarization resistance of the coating in seawater can be maintained above 6.25 × 106 Ω.cm2 for an extended period. The coating has a high resistance (=1.1 M Ω), and there is no apparent galvanic corrosion when contacted with TC4 alloy. Additionally, analysis of corrosion products on the sample surface reveals that the samples with sprayed alumina-titanium ceramic show no copper corrosion products on the surface, and the coating remains intact, effectively isolating the corrosive medium.
Originality/value
By adjusting the spraying parameters, the deformation of the cylinder thin-walled component can be effectively controlled, making the φ 400 × 392 mm (thickness 5 mm) CrZrCu cylinder com-ponent with a maximum diameter deformation of only 0.14 mm. The satisfactory corrosion performances can be achieved under adjusting spraying parameters, which can guarantee the application of ceramic coating for weapon launching system of naval ships.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aimed to examine the correlation between authentic leadership and career competence, exploring the mediating roles of tacit knowledge sharing and employee service innovative behavior.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected using convenience sampling and a time-lagged design from the Pakistani banking sector. The time-lagged design was employed to gather data at two different points in time. SPSS statistical software was used for descriptive analysis, and hypotheses were tested using Mplus.
Findings
The results demonstrate that authentic leadership has a significant positive impact on tacit knowledge sharing. This knowledge sharing, in turn, positively impacts employee service innovative behavior, which subsequently enhances career competence. Furthermore, tacit knowledge sharing mediates the relationship between authentic leadership and employee service innovative behavior.
Social implications
This study has social implications for organizations aiming to align their inclusive goals with societal needs. The findings can help foster a culture of knowledge sharing, thereby contributing to societal innovation.
Originality/value
This study provides valuable insights into how authentic leadership contributes to career competence, thus enriching the existing literature on this topic.

Abstract
Purpose
The objective of this comparative quantitative study is to examine hypotheses regarding the impact of asset management and intellectual capital (IC) on the financial performance of the construction sector in the ASEAN-5 throughout 2019–2022 with enterprise resource planning (ERP) as a mediator variable.
Design/methodology/approach
A final sample of 65 construction industries listed on stock exchanges during 2019 and 2022 in ASEAN-5 (Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore) was selected using the purposive sampling method. This research employs market-to-book value (MBV) as a measure of IC. The study also used path analysis, the Sobel test and analysis of variance test (ANOVA).
Findings
The findings demonstrate that asset management, intellectual capital and ERP have a significant and favorable impact on return on asset (ROA). Additionally, the asset management and IC of the ERP display weak and substantial outcomes. The implementation of ERP was also shown not to operate as a mediating factor. The ANOVA results on financial performance indicate significant differences for the year 2019. Furthermore, the use of various ERP software types demonstrates a comparable impact on enhancing financial performance.
Originality/value
This is the first study that utilizes ERP to mediate management asset and IC on financial performance. The ASEAN-5 construction sector is representative of developing nations' economic condition, offering the possibility to avoid the global economic collapse in 2023 and recover despite economic volatility.
