Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this article is twofold. First, this study characterises the current state of the bio-packaging market's development. Second, it identifies key factors influencing and possible scenarios of the bio-packaging market transition to increase the market share of compostable packaging.

Design/methodology/approach

The results of 29 in-depth interviews (IDIs) with representatives of the key groups of bio-packaging supply chains' (SCs') stakeholders were the input for the consideration of the research problem.

Findings

The main economic, legal, social and technological enablers and barriers to the bio-packaging regime transition are recognised, and their impact at the market level is explained. The authors recognised the hybrid transition scenario towards an increase in the market share of compostable packaging related to the three traditional pathways of transformation, reconfiguration and technological substitution.

Originality/value

This study contributes to a better understanding of the socio-technical system theory by examining interdependencies between landscape (external environment), market regime (bio-packaging market) and niche innovations (compostable packaging) as well as system transition pathways. The findings and conclusions on bio-packaging market developments can be important lessons learnt to be applied in different countries due to the same current development stage of the compostable packaging lifecycle worldwide.

Abstract

Purpose: This piece delves into the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in the healthcare field within the emerging realm of Industry 5.0, highlighting a people-focused and eco-friendly approach.

Need for the study: While Industry 4.0 set the foundation for digitization in healthcare, it frequently overlooked the human factor and concerns about sustainability. Industry 5.0 tackles these deficiencies by giving importance to human welfare, efficiency in resource usage, and societal consequences alongside technological progress.

Methodology: This research utilizes a survey of existing written works on Industry 5.0, AI in healthcare, and associated empowering technologies. It also leans on insights from recent investigations and business actions to pinpoint current patterns and future paths.

Findings: This chapter showcases how AI-driven solutions can greatly alter various facets of healthcare. Some of these healthcare facets encompass personalized medicine and treatment, intelligent diagnostics and decision support, robot-supported surgery and care, and enhanced availability and affordability.

Practical applications: This piece offers valuable perspectives for healthcare investors. These investors cover healthcare suppliers, technology creators, rule creators, and patients. By embracing the standards of Industry 5.0, the merging of AI into healthcare brings significant potential for crafting a more competent, sustainable, and people-centered healthcare network that benefits both patients and society as a complete unit. This research investigates the stance, viewpoints, and potential impacts of machine intelligence (MI) in health with an emphasis on Industry 5.0.

Abstract

Purpose: Industry 5.0 is a revolution building on the fourth industrial revolution, adopting human-centred production. It aims for a future that enables people to live with high welfare power by combining the power of the technologies it supports and uses with human creativity and skill. The study explores how Industry 5.0 differs from the industrial revolutions that preceded it, highlighting the challenges, benefits, and possible future trends of Industry 5.0 systems.

Need for the study: Industry 5.0 differs from Industry 4.0 – it represents a human-centred and sustainable approach along with the innovations it brings. Examination of the still emerging concept of Industry 5.0 and to investigate the driving forces behind the emergence is needed.

Methodology: The characteristics that distinguish the Industry 5.0 system from the fourth industrial revolution are explored in detail. The areas in which the technologies used in Industry 5.0 provide benefits and the challenges in implementing the system are analysed. The measures to be taken to overcome these difficulties and the deficiencies were investigated.

Findings: The most important principle of Industry 5.0 is human-centred production and technology. In addition, sustainability, personalised production, new business opportunities, more environmentally friendly and renewable energy use, and bioeconomy are shown as innovations brought by Industry 5.0.

Practical implications: The adoption of Industry 5.0 appears to be a mandatory change. In addition, the study emphasises the measures that businesses should take in terms of sustainability, sustainable economy, the importance of the use of renewable energy sources, and much more environmentally friendly and waste-free production.

Abstract

Purpose

Human Resources Management (HRM) plays a crucial role in fostering sustainability and operational efficiency in Indian manufacturing firms. This study examines the impact of recruitment, training, and performance appraisal on the adoption of digital circular economy models, identifying gaps in current HRM practices and their impact on firm performance.

Design/methodology/approach

HRM practices significantly impact the adoption of a digital circular economy in Indian manufacturing firms, according to a study involving 256 employees across 17 firms, using structural equation modeling to test hypotheses and provide insights.

Findings

HRM practices in Indian manufacturing firms significantly contribute to the adoption of the digital circular economy, but the influence of compensation, rewards, and employee engagement on circular economy adoption needs to be better aligned with sustainability goals.

Research limitations/implications

The research has limitations in terms of limited sample size and focus on specific HRM practices, which may not fully represent the diverse landscape of Indian manufacturing firms and omit factors such as organizational culture and external environment.

Originality/value

HRM practices are significantly impacting the Indian economy, with a focus on enhancing sustainability and operational efficiency in manufacturing firms.

Abstract

Purpose

Extant literature shows that gamification is an effective tool for enhancing customer brand engagement. However, there is a need for a structured review of the literature on how and to what extent gamification fosters customer brand engagement. This hybrid literature review synthesizes extant research on gamification and its impact on customer brand engagement.

Design/methodology/approach

The study is based on 45 articles drawn from 33 journals from the Scopus database. This article conducts a systematic review of theory, context, characteristics and methods employed in extant research, identifies contemporary themes and presents future research avenues. It also conducts a bibliometric analysis to identify the most prominent journals, authors, articles and themes.

Findings

This review identifies various patterns and trends of psychological capital research, and it unfolds four major themes – gamification and customer engagement, gamification and e-marketing, gamification and sustainable marketing and gamification and customer experience.

Practical implications

This review offers key insights into managerial implications.

Originality/value

It is one of the first endeavors to conduct a structured review of research related to gamification and customer engagement. It presents a conceptual framework that shows the relationships between gamification and customer engagement. This systematic review offers several future research agendas to spur scholarly research and presents key insights into the process of gamification in marketing to enhance customer brand engagement.

Abstract

Purpose

Be that as it may, BC is computationally costly, has restricted versatility and brings about critical transmission capacity upward and postpones, those seems not to be fit with Internet of Things (IoT) setting. A lightweight scalable blockchain (LSB) which is improved toward IoT necessities is suggested by the authors and investigates LSB within brilliant house setup like an agent model to enable more extensive IoT apps. Less asset gadgets inside brilliant house advantage via any unified chief which lays out common units for correspondence also cycles generally approaching and active solicitations.

Design/methodology/approach

Federated learning and blockchain (BC) have drawn in huge consideration due to the unchanging property and the relevant safety measure and protection benefits. FL and IoT safety measures’ difficulties can be conquered possibly by BC.

Findings

LSB accomplishes fragmentation through shaping any overlaid web with more asset gadgets mutually deal with a public BC and federated learning which assures complete protection also security.

Originality/value

This overlaid is coordinated as without error bunches and reduces extra efforts, also batch leader will be with answer to handle commonly known BCs. LSB joins some of advancements which also includes computations related to lesser weighing agreement, optimal belief also throughput regulatory body.
