Abstract

Purpose

Adopting and implementing robotic technology applications in the library is a significant technological up-gradation today. The purpose of this study was to evaluate selected literature focused mainly on robotics technology applications in the field of libraries and to assess the online social attention to research publications.

Design/methodology/approach

The study employed Scientometric and altmetric tools to evaluate the research publications. The bibliographic data of research publications were downloaded from Scopus database and scrutinized one by one and 71 articles were selected which mainly focused on robotic technology in libraries. Altmetric data were collected from the Dimensions.ai database. The analysis was performed using MS Excel, Tableau, Biblioshiny, VOSviewer and SPSS software.

Findings

Research on robotic technology in the field of libraries has been experiencing a gradual increase, marked by an annual growth rate of 12.93%. The United States has prominently led the way as the most active participant and collaborator in this advancement. Among the various journals, Library Hi Tech has notably stood out as a significant contributor to this field. However, the research articles have garnered limited social attention and impact. Furthermore, the patterns of authorship collaboration have demonstrated relatively modest levels within the field, and a weak correlation has been observed between the social attention received and the Scopus citation metrics of the publications.

Practical implications

The research needs to be disseminated more through various social media platforms to increase its visibility. Sharing research information through social media can bridge the gap between academia and society. The findings of this study can serve as a valuable reference for researchers and policymakers.

Originality/value

This study presents a Scientometric analysis of the selected published literature on robotics technology applications in the field of libraries, highlighting the progress and development of worldwide research in this area.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to provide bibliometric data from previously published research in Islamic marketing. To assess the knowledge structure of research in Islamic marketing and to aid future research, several categories were analysed, such as the most influential authors, the keywords and the themes of the previously published research. The paper also analyses the content of the previously published research in this field to identify the gaps and provide future research direction.

Design/methodology/approach

Using a quali-quantitative approach known as meta-literature review, we analysed the Islamic marketing literature from 2001–2023. The authors reviewed and analysed 208 papers through bibliometric citation analysis (using R-Studio, VOSviewer and Excel) and content analysis.

Findings

The findings revealed that Malaysia is the most influential country researching Islamic Marketing, and most of the papers were published by the Journal of Islamic Marketing. “Islamic”, “Marketing” and “halal” are among the top three keywords used by the authors publishing in this field. It was found that the impactful authors in Islamic marketing are Wilson, Alserhan and Sandikci, and the impactful source is the Journal of Islamic Marketing. The authors also found that the past research in this field focuses on qualitative research methods, and the objective is more towards providing a general understanding of the concept of Islamic marketing, while the current research agenda is more towards behavioural study and uses quantitative analysis.

Practical implications

By identifying core journals, seminal papers and influential authors, researchers can gain insights into the intellectual structure of a discipline in this field. This study also supports decision-makers, such as funding agencies or policymakers, and assists in making informed decisions related to resource allocation and research priorities.

Originality/value

This comprehensive study examines previously published research and contributes to mapping knowledge domains in Islamic marketing. Reviewing and analysing the published research on Islamic marketing, the authors provide 11 future research questions to extend the research on this topic. The findings of this research benefit practitioners and researchers wishing to embark on research in this niche field.

Designing a phenomenon model is not dissimilar from designing and constructing a systems model. The essential elements of a systems model are presented and aligned with the MASK phenomenon model. Abstract

Purpose

This study explores key factors influencing individuals' intentions to invest in NFTs, focusing on personal innovativeness, reward sensitivity, knowledge, subjective norms, perceived value and perceived risk. The aim is to provide insights into what motivates investors within this emerging market, addressing a gap in the understanding of NFT adoption from an investor perspective.

Design/methodology/approach

An online survey collected data from 272 participants in China and Hong Kong. The research employs partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess the relationships between various individual, social and market factors and NFT investment intentions.

Findings

The results suggest that personal innovativeness, reward sensitivity, NFT knowledge, subjective norms and perceived value positively impact NFT investment intentions. Additionally, age and income moderate the effects of subjective norms and perceived value on investment intentions, highlighting demographic influences.

Practical implications

For practitioners, insights into investor motivators can inform strategies to promote NFT investments, such as promoting the high reward potential, enhancing investor knowledge, leveraging social proof and emphasizing NFTs' perceived value. For academics, the findings open pathways for further research into investor psychology and the evolving dynamics of NFT and traditional investment markets.

Originality/value

This study advances NFT literature by identifying determinants of NFT investment behavior, a relatively uncharted area. By incorporating theories from investment behavior and technology adoption, it provides a new framework to understand the psychological and social drivers specific to NFT investments.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to investigate the views of English football supporter representatives on the implicit club–supporter relationship, pertaining to a normative social contract which can be used to help improve football club governance.

Design/methodology/approach

Semi-structured interviews were conducted within an exploratory enquiry, intentionally investigating the fan perspective to understand supporters’ views without the influence of owner self-interest which often leads to commercialisation and/or mis-management.

Findings

Findings show evidence of a normative social contract that reflects many supporters’ dissatisfaction with current practice and provides guidance for the expectations of both parties.

Research limitations/implications

This research aims to stimulate further academic discussion on the underlying principles behind good club and industry governance. It provides a new lens with which to view the club–supporters relationship, adding to previous studies in the area of club governance.

Practical implications

There are implications for both clubs and the forthcoming Independent Football Regulator following a parliamentary Bill that recognises the community importance of clubs and supporters’ unique stakeholder position.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first academic paper linking social contract theory to football. By implementing the research findings, clubs can improve their governance, social capital, accountability and engagement practices in ways considered equitable by both parties.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to investigate the impact of capital buffer on risk-taking in the Vietnam banking sector as well as examine the moderating role of capital regulation based on Basel II standards and shadow banking on this correlation.

Design/methodology/approach

The capital buffer is measured by the bank’s capital adequacy ratio minus the regulatory capital adequacy ratio, whereas risk-taking is the inverse value of the Zscore indicator. To test the hypotheses, the two-step system generalized method of moments estimation and a data set for the period 2010–2022 were used.

Findings

This study reveals the U-shaped nonlinear impact of capital buffer on bank risk-taking, which means that maintaining high capital buffer forces Vietnamese banks to reduce risky activities, but when the capital buffer is thick enough to resist unexpected shocks, an additional level of capital buffer may lead to excessive risky behaviors. The regression outcomes also explore the moderating role of capital regulation based on Basel II standards and shadow banking. To be specific, applying capital regulation following Basel II has caused banks to behave more cautiously and enhance the negative impact of capital buffer on bank risk-taking, whereas engaging in shadow banking activities has caused them to increase risk tolerance and diminish the negative impact of capital buffer on risk-taking.

Originality/value

This study bridges the gap in the literature regarding the impact of capital buffer on bank risk-taking in a typical emerging market. Especially, the article explores evidence that capital regulation and shadow banking play as moderators between two main interest variables.

This study aims to examine the literature on accounting ethics education to capture and synthesise the characteristics of scholars dedicated to this area of research.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to examine the literature on accounting ethics education to capture and synthesise the characteristics of scholars dedicated to this area of research.

Design/methodology/approach

Using a combination of PRISMA systematic literature review methods and research profiling, the study collects a sample frame consisting of 278 articles published in peer-reviewed academic journals from 1970 to 2023. The articles were analysed to identify key authors of accounting ethics education research, the institutions conducting this research and the journals publishing this research.

Findings

The results indicate that research in accounting ethics education is not dominated by any single institution but is distributed across 225 institutions in 36 countries, with a significant concentration in the United States. Additionally, most articles were published in accounting or business journals, rather than in education-focused journals.

Research limitations/implications

The findings provide insights into the ranking of researchers in accounting ethics education and establish benchmarks among the institutions involved in this research area. Further studies could explore the implications of these findings on future research directions.

Practical implications

This study offers valuable information for academics and institutions seeking to understand the landscape of accounting ethics education research and highlights areas for potential collaboration and development.

Originality/value

This paper addresses a gap in the literature by providing a comprehensive synthesis of the existing research on accounting ethics education and the scholarly community surrounding it.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper investigates the relationship between workplace incivility (WI) and nurses’ job and vocational turnover intentions. We introduce two moderators, organizational efficacy (OE) and calling and investigate their influence on the relationship between WI and turnover intentions.

Design/methodology/approach

We surveyed 187 nurses in the Southwest US, currently employed in a clinical setting. We tested the hypothesized model using PLS-SEM for data analysis.

Findings

The results show that WI influences job turnover intentions but not vocational turnover intentions. OE and Calling both uniquely moderate the relationship between specific sources of WI and nurses’ turnover intentions.

Research limitations/implications

We offer insights into the effect various sources of WI have on nurses’ turnover intentions. Our findings imply that WI is less impactful on vocational turnover than job turnover. Also, OE and calling can be utilized to moderate the negative effects of WI.

Practical implications

Healthcare organizations should implement strategies that promote a positive work environment for all employees, particularly nurses. They should also strive to build a workplace culture that fosters calling among nurses.

Originality/value

The paper examines the differential impact of various sources of WI on two forms of turnover intentions, prominent and relevant in the nursing work environment. In addition, we introduce two new moderators – OE and calling – that significantly influence the relationship between WI and turnover intentions.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to examine the conceptual and empirical operations of hospitality at its intersections with health care, which includes medical and senior care.

Design/methodology/approach

This study conducts a systematic review of literature on hospitality in health care published in hospitality, tourism and leisure journals spanning from 1990 to 2023. A total of 50 studies meeting the inclusion criteria are reviewed, providing insights into how hospitality is conceptualized, its practical implementation and the proposed outcomes in health-care settings.

Findings

Hospitality in health care is conceptualized by hospitality scholars in three main ways: as service functions, as a service exchange and as an organizational culture. There is a significant overlap between the notion of hospitality and the concept of person-centered care in gerontology and health-care literature. Also, hospitality contributes positively to patient/resident experiences, organizational performance and societal impacts.

Research limitations/implications

The study is limited by its focus solely on the theoretical and practical aspects of hospitality in health care within hospitality, tourism and leisure journals, excluding relevant literature from gerontological and health-care journals.

Originality/value

Interdisciplinary research requires scholars from different disciplines to develop a common language and understanding of key concepts. This study presents the conceptual and practical domains of hospitality and its relevancy to health-care research and offers future directions to strengthen the interdisciplinary research between hospitality, health care and gerontology.
