Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to validate and adapt the Arabic version of Holden Communication Scale (HCS) for assessing communication skills among old people with dementia in care home.
Design/methodology/approach
A study involving 210 elderly residents from Jordanian care homes was conducted, where they completed the Arabic version of the HCS. Internal consistency and factor analysis techniques were precisely used to assess the scale's reliability. Additionally, cognitive function evaluation used the Arabic iteration of the Saint Louis University Mental Status (SLUMS) questionnaire, while communication skills were comprehensively appraised using the HCS.
Findings
The Arabic HCS has strong content validity, with a one-component structure accounting for 60% of the variation and a three-factor structure accounting for 77.2% of the variance. The original three-subgroup structure of the scale was recreated, and internal consistency varied from 0.85 to 0.87, indicating good reliability.
Originality/value
This study aimed to assess the reliability and validity of the Arabic version of the HCS among old people with dementia residing in care homes. The authors conducted examination of its psychometric properties within this unique population.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to assess the nexus among output growth, renewable energy consumption, financial development and environmental quality (EQ) in the presence of non-renewable energy consumption for India using annual time series data for the period 1980–2021.
Design/methodology/approach
To conduct an econometric analysis, this study uses the augmented autoregressive distributed lag (AARDL) model, which offers the benefit of simultaneously estimating both long-run and short-run estimators. Furthermore, this study uses the Toda-Yamamoto (1995) test and the Breitung and Candelon (2006) test to explore causal relationships in both time and frequency domains (FDs), aiming to understand the dynamic associations between variables.
Findings
Using the AARDL model, the authors found that initially, with an increase in output growth, EQ deteriorates, but once output growth reaches a threshold level, EQ improves. Likewise, this study found that financial development enhances EQ. Furthermore, the authors found a unidirectional causality from the load capacity factor (LCF) to output growth, renewable energy consumption and non-renewable energy consumption in the case of time domain analysis, and no feedback causality was documented. In the FD causality approach, this study reveals a causality nexus from LCF to output growth, financial development and renewable energy consumption at low, middle and high frequencies.
Practical implications
The findings highlight the need for targeted policies to balance economic growth and environmental sustainability in India. Policymakers should promote green technologies and enhance renewable energy use to mitigate the initial negative impact of output growth on EQ. The positive role of financial development suggests that encouraging green financing and sustainable investments can further improve environmental outcomes. The Indian economy needs to prioritise sustainable growth in its financial sector by aligning it with ongoing transformative processes for sustainable development. To achieve the sustainable development goals pertaining to EQ, the Indian economy must diminish its reliance on fossil fuels. In addition, the government of India must provide financial assistance to environmental organisations to foster the LCF.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study to investigate the dynamic nexus among financial development, output growth, renewable energy consumption and EQ proxied by LCF within the Indian context in the presence of non-renewable energy consumption. Likewise, this study uses the LCF to assess environmental sustainability in India, offering a comprehensive evaluation by integrating both supply and demand dimensions. From a policy perspective, this study highlights the significance of fostering sustainable economic growth, implementing environmentally conscious banking policies, and adopting diversified and ecologically friendly strategies. These policy directions are essential for conserving ecological resources and fostering a more sustainable and resilient development trajectory for India.

Purpose
This paper aims to explore the numerical simulation of MHD flow of Williamson hybrid nanofluid over a porous stretched sheet. Cattaneo–Christov thermal and specie fluxes were used in the model. Partial differential equations are exploit to model the underlying physics of the situation (PDEs).
Design/methodology/approach
Using an acceptable similarity functions, these equations were changed into total differential equations (ODEs). The spectral relaxation method (SRM) was used to solve the linked and nonlinear altered ODEs. The Gauss–Seidel procedure is used to figure out how to use Chebyshev pseudospectral techniques in SRM. This is an iterative process.
Findings
Increasing the heat relaxation flow increases temperature distributions; increasing the mass relaxation flux increases concentration distributions. A higher value of thermal radiation heat generation and Eckert number was noticed to improve temperature and velocity distributions. Due to the imposed electromagnetic force, a higher magnetic field is detected to cause an elevation in the velocity distribution. Also, a higher thermal radiation is observed to upsurge the velocity in company with temperature distributions.
Originality/value
This research benefits from biomedical engineering, biological sciences, astrophysics and geophysics. The rheological applications of Williamson fluid finds usefulness in biological sciences. The nanoparticles as considered in this study finds applications in the field of biomedical engineering. Also, the application of the imposed electromagnetic field and magnetic field strength is very useful in the area of astrophysics. A good agreement may be found in the literature on this study’s findings.

Purpose
Given the substantial challenges and disruptions that companies often encounter from within the organization and the broader market landscape – such as market turbulence, technological advancements and regulatory changes – developing robust organizational resilience and transitioning to digital business practices have become top priorities. This paper aimed to explore if digital human resource management (HRM) significantly influences the organizational resilience within the context of emerging economy.
Design/methodology/approach
To analyze data collected from HRM experts active in the business sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we utilized in this paper multiple regression analysis. This approach allowed us to explore the relationships and impacts within this specific regional context.
Findings
The study findings revealed that digital HRM significantly enhances organizational resilience, positively impacting its three key components: the ability to anticipate, the capacity to cope and the capability to adapt.
Practical implications
This study offers digital HRM strategies for enhancing organizational resilience, guiding HR professionals in using digital tools to boost employee adaptability, streamline crisis communication and improve flexibility and readiness for future disruptions.
Originality/value
This research adds to the existing literature and ensures practical implication on digital HRM and organizational resilience by empirically demonstrating how digital HRM strengthens organizational capabilities to foresee potential disruptions, respond effectively to crises and adapt to changing circumstances. These capabilities help organizations maintain stability and continue operations smoothly during unexpected events, thereby safeguarding their long-term sustainability and competitive edge.

Purpose
In uncertain and emerging conditions, businesses must adopt new strategies to compete and survive the changing and unstable environment. This research seeks to investigate the role of dynamic capabilities in the competitiveness of startups, emphasizing resilience and strategic alignment.
Design/methodology/approach
Isfahan Scientific and Research Town has always been a pioneer in the field of science and technology in Iran and is known as the most extensive technology and knowledge-based complex in Iran. The sample size of 300 companies active in the startup field was selected using a simple random sampling method. Questionnaires were collected from the managers of technological startup companies in Isfahan, and the SEM model was used to analyze the data.
Findings
This research shows that dynamic capabilities in terms of coordination, flexibility and integration significantly impact competitiveness. Resilience and strategic alignment also increase the organization’s performance and strengthen the organization in gaining a more competitive advantage in the industry.
Originality/value
Finally, dynamic capabilities indirectly affect competitiveness through resilience and strategic alignment. This shows a need for strategic alignment and resilience to change advantage shape in dynamic conditions.

Abstract
Purpose
Achieving sustainability goals for manufacturing firms depends on green human resource management practices and green intellectual capital. This study explores how sustainable approaches, such as green human resource management practices, green intellectual capital, sustainable leadership and green innovation, enhance sustainable performance. Therefore, this study aims to determine whether green intellectual capital and innovation mediate between green human resources management practices and sustainable performance in Pakistan’s manufacturing industry.
Design/methodology/approach
The data were collected from 458 executives representing 155 (SMEs) in the manufacturing sector in Pakistan using a self-administered questionnaire. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was employed for the data analysis.
Findings
The results indicated that green human resource management practices positively impact green intellectual capital, green innovation and sustainable performance. Additionally, green intellectual capital significantly affects both green innovation and sustainable performance. Furthermore, green intellectual capital and innovation mediate the relationship between green human resource management practices and sustainable performance. Results also reveal that sustainable leadership significantly moderates the relationships between green human resource management practices, green intellectual capital and green innovation.
Practical implications
The results of this study assist practitioners in appreciating and assessing the significance of green intellectual capital and green human resource management techniques. It also emphasizes the importance of green innovation and sustainable leadership in fostering sustainable performance.
Originality/value
This study guides managers and policymakers on how green human resource management practices, intellectual capital, innovation and sustainable leadership enable firms to achieve sustainable performance goals.
