Abstract

COVID entered the world in 2019 as a pandemic and the intensity of this health crisis is only increasing in several regions. Therefore, it is critical to study and detect the public's frame of mind, government and economists' perception regarding the COVID crisis, as well as the primary worries that the public has expressed, and how this evolves over time. Responsive measures towards COVID-19 from the Indian economy have been explored as a key objective. Moreover, efforts have been made to explore recovery in India through economists and policymakers. Data have been explored through online interviews of key economists which were published in leading newspapers and covered through media channels such as NDTV, CNBC, etc. Moreover, various newspapers and reports were explored to understand government initiatives to address COVID-19 in India. The study's findings show how essential economic recovery from the second wave is in India, and how it may be achieved by strong fiscal and monetary policies, as well as specific attention to impoverished households, small and micro-businesses and increased employment. The short-term focus of the developing economic strategy must be on giving crisis relief to the most unprotected segments of society since long-term system stimulation is impossible.

Abstract

Purpose

Achieving tenure security is a global challenge impacting cities of the global south. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the role of technology-enabled solutions as an enabler for the tenure rights of slum dwellers.

Design/methodology/approach

In this paper, we adopted a case study approach to analyze the use cases for technologies aiding India’s securitization of land tenure. The flagship state mission of Odisha, named the Jaga Mission, and that of Punjab, named BASERA – the Chief Minister’s Slum Development Program – were used as cases for this paper.

Findings

It was found that technologies like drone imagery and digital surveys fast-tracked the data collection and helped in mapping the slums with accuracy, mitigating human errors arising during measurement – a necessary condition for ensuring de jure tenure security. The adoption of a technology-based solution, along with a suitable policy and legal framework, has helped in the distribution of secure land titles to the slum dwellers in these states.

Originality/value

Odisha’s and Punjab’s journey in using technology to enable tenure security for its urban poor residents can serve as a model for the cities of the global south, dealing with the challenges of providing secure tenure and property rights.

Abstract

Blockchain technology, renowned for its decentralization, security, reliability, and data integrity, has the potential to revolutionize businesses globally. However, its full potential remains unrealized due to adoption barriers, necessitating further studies to address these challenges. Identifying these barriers is crucial for businesses and practitioners to effectively tackle them. This systematic review analyzed 70 eligible studies out of 1944 gathered from various databases to understand and identify common blockchain adoption barriers. The Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE) framework was the most popular theory used in these studies. Despite differences in variable definitions, financial constraints, lack of stakeholder collaboration and coordination, and social influences like resistance to change and negative perceptions emerged as the top three barriers. The supply chain domain had the highest number of studies on blockchain adoption. Notably, there was a significant increase in studies addressing blockchain adoption in 2023, comprising 34.2% of the total reviewed studies. This review provides a comprehensive overview of identified barriers, serving as a valuable foundation for future research. Understanding these challenges allows researchers to design targeted studies aimed at developing solutions, strategies, and innovations to overcome obstacles hindering blockchain adoption.

Abstract

Metaverse is going to change the landscape in every field, sector, and business. This chapter aims to explore the role of marketing in the metaverse focusing on each sector and business. This chapter has adopted bibliometrics analysis to explore the importance of metaverse marketing. The results suggest that the publication and citation of articles have seen a huge jump from 2022 onwards. Keyword co-occurrence analysis shows that metaverse with blockchain, marketing, education, and virtual reality (VR) are hot words in the upcoming time. Metaverse marketing shows that innovation, mixed reality, and extended reality will change the landscape of marketing. Analysis suggests that China, the United States, South Korea, and India are the top contributing countries in the research of metaverse. By understanding the implications of the metaverse on purchaser conduct and promoting systems, organizations can draw in the main interest group and gain esteem in this new advanced scene.

Abstract

Purpose

Price image studies have dominated the consumer market but have been slower to evolve in the business market. This research aims to conceptualize and validate the firms’ price image (FPI) in the business market, as well as to develop a conceptual framework for exploring the importance of pricing capability (PC) in the formation of FPI and its influence on customer value (CV) and business performance (BP).

Design/methodology/approach

The study conducted field interviews with business managers and customers of Indian small and medium-sized enterprises to operationalize and validate the FPI variable using a mixed method of qualitative and quantitative multivariate analyses. Partial least square structural equation modeling technique was applied to validate a conceptual model on a sample of 286 respondents acquired from both physical and digital questionnaire survey techniques.

Findings

The findings revealed that PC is positively linked to FPI, which in turn, significantly affects CV and BP. Moreover, CV serves as a partial mediator in the FPI–BP link. The research also offers a measurement scale consisting of eight items for assessing the FPI variable from the stakeholders’ perspective.

Research limitations/implications

This research contributes to the literature on price image by refining and testing measures of FPI, and enriches the existing literature by understanding the theoretical relationships among PC, FPI, CV, and BP.

Practical implications

The research reveals that developing PC is a useful tool for SMEs to build favorable FPI, which delivers superior CV and obtains improved BP. The findings can also assist SME managers to gain a sustainable competitive advantage by maintaining a favorable FPI.

Originality/value

While a growing number of consumer market studies reveal that price image is strategically important for the retailers who own it, no study has explored the role of price image in the business market. This is the first study to explore price image at the firm level in the business market. This study further provides empirical evidence for the claim that PC influences the formation of a FPI and clarifies the relationship between FPI, CV and BP.
