Abstract
Purpose
One of the open questions is how to define a complete semantic description of an Internet of Things (IoT) system and how to ensure the device’s identification in this type of system. To answer this question, the authors needed to propose a mechanism to describe an IoT system based on an IoT context ontology description. This mechanism is based on semantic web services creation to identify objects in IoT system. This paper aims to propose a model to describe the IoT system. The authors suggest an approach to describe each category of contextual information separately and ensure the adaptation in the IoT system.

Abstract
Purpose
Visually impaired people usually struggle with doing daily tasks due to a lack of visual cues. For image captioning assistive applications, most applications require an Internet connection for the image captioning generation function to work properly. In this study, we developed MyUEVision, an application that assists visually impaired people by generating image captions that can work with and without the Internet. This work also involves reviewing some image captioning models for this application.
Design/methodology/approach
The author has selected and experimented with three image captioning models for online models and two image captioning models for offline models. The user experience (UX) design was designed based on the problems faced by visually impaired users when using mobile applications. The application is developed for the Android platform, and the offline model is integrated into the application for the image captioning generation function to work offline.
Findings
After conducting experiments for selecting online and offline models, ExpansionNet V2 is chosen for the online model and VGG16 + long short-term memory (LSTM) is chosen for the offline model. The application is then developed and assessed, and the results show that the application can generate image captions with or without the Internet, providing the best result when having an Internet connection, and the image is captured in good lighting with a few objects.
Originality/value
MyUEVision stands out for its both online and offline functionality. This approach ensures the image captioning generator works with or without the Internet, setting it apart as a unique solution to address the needs of visually impaired individuals.

Abstract
This study examined the factors militating against walking as a form of active mobility in Akure, Nigeria. For questionnaire administration, from the 548,315 population of Akure, two hundred and seventy-four (274) household heads representing 0.05% of the entire population of Akure were sampled with the aid of a structured and self-administered questionnaire using a systematic sampling technique. The elicited data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. From the analysis, the major impediments to walking were the socio-cultural belief that anybody walking was poor, followed by accessibility to motorised transport, and inadequate pedestrian facilities. These situations have significantly deterred people from seeing walking as an active form of mobility in the study area. Thus, the study recommends a strong sensitisation and awareness programme to robustly enlighten people on the need to embrace walking as a form of urban mobility. Also, the government should adequately and sustainably invest more in pedestrian facilities that will promote the culture of walking among people and/or road users in Akure, Nigeria. More importantly, for inclusiveness in urban planning, road infrastructure should be designed alongside other road elements to ensure seamless negotiations between pedestrians and vehicles without any form of conflict.

Abstract
Purpose
Cost contingency is widely employed to address project risks. This systematic literature review aims to develop a framework for understanding risks in project cost contingency estimation.
Design/methodology/approach
A systematic literature review of 859 abstracts and 67 full articles was conducted using a framework synthesis method.
Findings
The study establishes a six-element risk framework for project cost contingency estimation, encompassing event, consequence, uncertainty, probability, knowledge, and mitigation. Twelve risk dimensions in the project cost contingency estimation are further developed.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the project management literature by constructing a framework for understanding risks in project cost contingency estimation. This framework provides guidance for enhancing the accuracy of project cost contingency estimation.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to present a sustainable approach in the natural dyeing of cellulose fabric followed by nanosilver finishing through a green crosslinker of citric acid for potential antibacterial surgical gown fabrication.
Design/methodology/approach
The nanosilver finish was reproduced using the chemical reduction method. The fabric dyeing was performed on a lab-scale dyeing machine, whereas silver nano-finishing through a pad-dry-cure approach. Citric acid was used as an eco-friendly crosslinker. The specimens were characterized for antibacterial activity, surface chemical, textile, color properties and finish release trend.
Findings
The results demonstrated the successful application of curcumin dye followed by silver nano-finishing. The resultant fabric exhibited appropriate textile, dyeing performance indicators, hydrophobic behavior and sustainable broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.
Practical implications
The prepared nanosilver-finished/curcumin-treated fabric expressed desirable properties for potential applications in the fabrication of surgical gowns.
Originality/value
The authors found no reports on an extensive examination of nanosilver finishing on the color parameters of curcumin-dyed cellulose fabric while retaining its textile and comfort properties for possible surgical gown fabrication.

Abstract
Purpose
This research aimed to visualize and analyze the co-word network and thematic clusters of the intellectual structure in the field of linked data during 1900–2021.
Design/methodology/approach
This applied research employed a descriptive and analytical method, scientometric indicators, co-word techniques, and social network analysis. VOSviewer, SPSS, Python programming, and UCINet software were used for data analysis and network structure visualization.
Findings
The top ranks of the Web of Science (WOS) subject categorization belonged to various fields of computer science. Besides, the USA was the most prolific country. The keyword ontology had the highest frequency of co-occurrence. Ontology and semantic were the most frequent co-word pairs. In terms of the network structure, nine major topic clusters were identified based on co-occurrence, and 29 thematic clusters were identified based on hierarchical clustering. Comparisons between the two clustering techniques indicated that three clusters, namely semantic bioinformatics, knowledge representation, and semantic tools were in common. The most mature and mainstream thematic clusters were natural language processing techniques to boost modeling and visualization, context-aware knowledge discovery, probabilistic latent semantic analysis (PLSA), semantic tools, latent semantic indexing, web ontology language (OWL) syntax, and ontology-based deep learning.
Originality/value
This study adopted various techniques such as co-word analysis, social network analysis network structure visualization, and hierarchical clustering to represent a suitable, visual, methodical, and comprehensive perspective into linked data.

Abstract
Purpose
The present study explores both the validation of the unified model of activism and the methodological reliability of the LlamaParsing approach to natural language processing. Theoretically, it applies the unified model of activism within the context of the Scottish independence movement, evaluating its effectiveness in social media environment.
Design/methodology/approach
Methodologically, it addresses the reliability and validity challenges associated with AI analyses, particularly the issue of AI hallucinations—instances where AI generates seemingly accurate but incorrect information. By employing the LlamaParsing approach and then comparing and contrasting it with a quantitative content coding process, the study demonstrates how context-specific instructions can enhance the accuracy of AI analyses.
Findings
The findings indicate this approach not only tests and extends the unified model of activism but also offers a robust methodological framework for using NLP and RAG in qualitative research. This dual focus underscores the potential of AI to provide systematic and theoretically valuable insights while highlighting the importance of mitigating its limitations.
Originality/value
This study represents a cutting-edge approach to qualitative data analysis, theory development, and theory testing in communication using a tool that was developed in 2024.

Abstract
Purpose
In this study, two postprocessing techniques, namely, conventional burnishing (CB) and ultrasonic-assisted burnishing (UAB), were applied to improve the fatigue behavior of 316 L stainless steel fabricated through selective laser melting (SLM). The effects of these processes on surface roughness, porosity, microhardness and fatigue performance were experimentally investigated. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of ultrasonic-assisted burnishing as a preferred post-processing technique for enhancing the fatigue performance of additively manufactured components.
Design/methodology/approach
All samples were subjected to a sandblasting process. Next, the samples were divided into three distinct groups. The first group (as-Built) did not undergo any additional postprocessing, apart from sandblasting. The second group was treated with CB, while the third group was treated with ultrasonic-assisted burnishing. Finally, all samples were evaluated based on their surface roughness, porosity, microhardness and fatigue performance.
Findings
The results revealed that the initial mean surface roughness (Ra) of the as-built sample was 11.438 µm. However, after undergoing CB and UAB treatments, the surface roughness decreased to 1.629 and 0.278 µm, respectively. Notably, the UAB process proved more effective in eliminating near-surface pores and improving the microhardness of the samples compared to the CB process. Furthermore, the fatigue life of the as-built sample, initially at 66,000 cycles, experienced a slight improvement after CB treatment, reaching 347,000 cycles. However, the UAB process significantly enhanced the fatigue life of the samples, extending it to 620,000 cycles.
Originality/value
After reviewing the literature, it can be concluded that UAB will exceed the capabilities of CB in terms of enhancing the surface roughness and, subsequently, the fatigue performance of additive manufactured (AM) metals. However, the actual impact of the UAB process on the fatigue life of AM products has not yet been thoroughly researched. Therefore, in this study, this paper used the burnishing process to enhance the fatigue life of 316 L stainless steel produced through the SLM process.

Purpose
Albeit gradual and uneven, the emergence of social and environmental reporting by publicly held corporations has been a major development in the last few decades. This paper aims to explore patterns of the emergence of these disclosures. Using an institutional theory lens, this paper considers mimetic, normative and coercive possibilities.
Design/methodology/approach
US publicly traded company data from 2013 to 2019 is used to test the hypotheses. Mimetic forces are proxied with corporate board interlock frequency. Normative ones use the extent of gender diversity on corporate boards. Measures of business climate and industry regulatory sensitivity proxy coercive potentiality.
Findings
Studied in isolation, each of the three forces through which organizations pursue the heightened legitimacy of enhanced environmental and social disclosures has credibility. The strongest support exists for mimetic and normative mechanisms, perhaps because the US government has been reluctant to make these expanded disclosures mandatory.
Research limitations/implications
In the world of voluntary action, more attention to diffusion is needed. For these purposes, better proxies will be needed to study change. Social and environmental information should be separated for individual analysis.
Practical implications
At least in the USA, companies are attentive to what other companies are doing. There is something to be said for the ethical dimension of corporate transparency.
Social implications
Governmental action in this area has not been effective, at current levels. Corporate leadership is essential. Critical information is shared about disclosure by board members.
Originality/value
Although institutional theory makes several appearances in this area, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, the current study is the first empirical archival study to examine the three forces simultaneously, providing evidence as to the relative magnitude of each institutional force on environmental and social disclosures. Should these disclosures not be mandated by government, this study shows pathways for enhanced disclosures to continue to spread.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to develop an indigo-dyed denim fabric treated with a nanosilver colloid in the presence of a natural crosslinker of citric acid for possible surgical gown fabrication applications.
Design/methodology/approach
A bleached denim fabric was dyed with the sustainable indigo dye followed by silver nanofinishing through citric acid crosslinking under the pad-dry-cure method. The prepared denim samples were analyzed for chemo-physical, textile, dyeing, antibacterial and finish release properties.
Findings
The results demonstrated that the comfort and textile characteristics of nanosilver-treated/indigo-dyed cellulosic fabric were affected due to the crosslinking, surface amphiphilicity and air permeability. These properties were, still, in the acceptable range for the fabrication of naturally dyed and antibacterial nanofinished denim gowns.
Practical implications
The dyeing of denim with synthetic dyes may cause harmful effects on the skin and health of the wearer, and the authors present an eco-friendly sustainable approach.
Originality/value
The authors used the fabric substrate, natural indigo dye and reducing/crosslinker agent of citric acid, all being bio-based, in the fabrication of antibacterial dyed fabric for health care garments.
