Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to overcome the inherent lack of precision in commonly used interpolation procedures when solving the mathematical model of turbofan engines, as well as to address the issue that the theoretical variogram model in traditional Kriging models is prone to subjective selection bias, which makes it impossible to accurately capture the inherent fluctuation patterns in compressor data.
Design/methodology/approach
To mitigate this challenge, based on the spatial distribution characteristics of the compressor characteristic data of a certain type of turbofan engine, the input and output dimensions of the model are defined. By determining the stable operating region from the original component data, the authors use the proposed Kriging method improved with a support vector machine model to reconstruct the characteristics at unknown speeds within this region. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated using the established assessment metrics.
Findings
Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method exhibits significant advantages over the conventional Kriging approach. Specifically, it leads to a substantial reduction in root mean square error and mean absolute error by 0.0153/0.0118 (low speed), 0.1306/0.0362 (medium speed) and −0.0066/0.2366 (high speed).
Originality/value
This refined approach not only offers notable engineering applicability but also contributes significantly to the enhancement of aerospace engine model solutions’ precision.

Abstract
Purpose
Guided by the conservation of resources theory, this study aims to present a comprehensive framework examining leadership, Guanxi, work-family conflict and work engagement. It specifically explores how group-level transformational leadership influences individual-level Guanxi and work-family conflict and how these factors, in turn, impact work engagement.
Design/methodology/approach
The study surveyed 473 teachers in the Klang Valley, Malaysia, and used hierarchical linear modelling.
Findings
The results reveal that transformational leadership directly enhances non-work relationships, reduces work-family conflict and indirectly predicts increased work engagement. This indirect influence occurs through the mediation of Guanxi and the work-family conflict. Notably, while stronger Guanxi is associated with greater work engagement in the professional sphere, it does not necessarily mitigate the work-family conflict in the personal domain.
Originality/value
These findings provide valuable insights into maintaining and enhancing work engagement by implementing transformational leadership through more effective channels, such as Guanxi and work-family conflict management.

Abstract
Purpose
This study uses a systematic review to explore the potential causes of previous findings related to e-government acceptance research. By identifying the most frequently used, best, promising or worst factors that affect the acceptance of e-government, this research presents a research agenda for e-government researchers.
Design/methodology/approach
Through conducting a systematic review following the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) procedure, this research first selected 109 papers. Subsequently, this research analyzed the predictors and linkages of e-government acceptance by adopting a weight-analysis method proposed by Jeyaraj et al. (2006).
Findings
The results first revealed the five most frequently used predictors and five best predictors of e-government acceptance at a comprehensive level. Furthermore, this study summarized the best predictors affecting the acceptance of e-government from the perspectives of adopter types and e-government stages. The results also illustrated the promising and the worst predictors influencing e-government acceptance.
Originality/value
The contribution of this research is twofold. First, this study identified the linkages between e-government acceptance at the individual and organizational levels and between different e-government development stages. Second, this research provided a research direction that could offer useful insights for future e-government studies.

Abstract
This study examines the sequential mediating role of employee organisational commitment (EOC) and innovation on the relationship between budgetary participation and competitive advantage. Data were collected from a mail survey questionnaire of 86 Australian organisations with PROCESS applied to analyse the data. The study's findings make a significant contribution to the budgetary participation and behavioural management literature and practice. Specifically, the study provides a theoretical insight into the role of an important employee behavioural factor, EOC and innovation in mediating the relationship between budgetary participation and competitive advantage. In particular, the findings inform practitioners that budgetary participation influences the EOC of employees and subsequently influence competitive advantage through exploratory innovation.

Abstract
Purpose
This research investigates how religion uniquely influences consumer behaviour by exploring the dynamics when a brand transgression violates a religious norm. Specifically, the study focusses on the Halal consumption context, where brand transgression involves a breach of trust in Halal-certified brands. We draw upon assimilation contrast effects theory and institutional theory to examine customer responses following a religion-related transgression and identify effective recovery strategies in this unique context.
Design/methodology/approach
We employed three scenario-based experiments to examine Muslim consumers’ responses following a transgression involving a Halal-certified brand. Study 1 examines the impact of a religion-related brand transgression on brand trust and behavioural intentions (relative to general brand transgression). In Study 2 and Study 3, we draw on institutional theory to highlight institutional actors’ role in influencing consumer behaviour in religion-related transgression.
Findings
Study 1 revealed that trust and behavioural intentions were significantly lower following a religion-related brand transgression compared to a general brand transgression. Further insights from Studies 2 and 3 highlighted the role of institutions in improving consumer trust and behavioural intentions after a religion-related brand transgression.
Originality/value
This research examines brand transgressions within sacred consumption, emphasising the unique triadic relationship involving consumers, brands and “The Sacred.” Unlike previous studies that predominantly address competency-based violations, this study extends beyond the conventional dyadic consumer-brand perspective to understand how brands can recover when a sacred relationship is breached. By bridging sacred consumption and institutional theory, this study offers novel insights, highlighting the importance of engaging religious gatekeepers in brand recovery efforts to restore trust and legitimacy.

Abstract
Purpose
A live-stream failure occurs when the product which is highly recommended by the influencers and exhibited quality problems. This study investigated how brand trust and influencers trust affect live-streaming purchase intentions (PIs) of consumers when live-streaming e-commerce failures occur and the role of the Stealing Thunder (ST).
Design/methodology/approach
Totally 584 adults with live-streaming shopping experience were invited to investigate the impact and mechanisms of live-streaming failure incidents, as well as the moderating mechanisms of ST.
Findings
Firstly, live-streaming failure accidents decreased the PI of consumers by reducing both brand trust and influencer trust, with trust in the influencers having a stronger impact on PI than brand trust. Secondly, if the influencers used the ST after a live-stream failure, the PI was the same as that in a non-failure scenario. Thirdly, the ST acts as a moderating variable neutralized the negative impact of live-streaming failure on trust in the influencers. Lastly, the negative impact of brand trust on PI was less significant using the ST.
Originality/value
This research deepens the understanding of service failures in live-streaming e-commerce. It provides insights into the consumer behavior and practical guidance on how influencers can actively respond to live-streaming failure to sustain reciprocal relationships in live-streaming e-commerce. The study addresses the effects of the coping strategies of influencers on the interests of product brands and discusses the potential solutions.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to explore the relationship between workplace bullying (WB) and proactive customer service orientation (PCSO). It also examined the mediation effect of workplace conflict (relationship and task conflict) and the combined moderating effect of psychological and social capital on the proposed relationship.
Design/methodology/approach
Longitudinal multi-study research design was used to collect data in three waves. Two studies were administered separately on hotel and restaurant employees. The correlation and hierarchical regression analysis were administered in SPSS. Mediation and multiplicative moderation analysis were conducted using Process macro.
Findings
The study’s findings suggest that WB is negatively associated with PCSO in both studies. Relationship and task conflict significantly mediated the relationship between WB and PCSO. Lastly, the psychological capital and social capital together safeguard the decreasing PCSO of the employees of the Indian hospitality industry due to WB.
Originality/value
There are hardly any studies examining the relationship between WB and PCSO in the Indian context. Further, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, no previous study has either explored the mediation effect of workplace conflict or the combined moderating effect of psychological and social capital on the proposed relationship.

Abstract
Purpose
Based on the collective agentic perspective of social cognitive theory and supplemented by social support theory, this study aims to investigate how the entrepreneurial collective efficacy of entrepreneurial teams impacts team effectiveness. Specifically, this study hypothesizes that entrepreneurial collective efficacy is a critical factor affecting effectiveness through the mechanism of instrumental support to varying extents, depending on team size.
Design/methodology/approach
The hypotheses were tested on a Chinese sample of new venture teams (N teams = 81; N individuals = 335). A multisource questionnaire that included questions for team leaders and other team decision makers was designed. The data on entrepreneurial collective efficacy (six items) and instrumental support (four items) comprised the aggregate responses from all team members; the data on team effectiveness (seven items) was reported by team leaders.
Findings
The findings indicate that entrepreneurial collective efficacy is positively associated with team effectiveness through instrumental support, especially in small teams.
Originality/value
This study makes important contributions to the research related to exploring in uncertain environments (entrepreneurship) how (instrumental support) entrepreneurial collective efficacy impacts team effectiveness, as well as more particularly under what conditions (team size), all within the specific context of collectivistic cultures (China).

Abstract
Purpose
This study examines the drivers of consumers’ intentions to adopt mobile wallets in Pakistan’s hospitality industry. Specifically, it proposes and tests a model of non-user consumer intention to adopt mobile wallets for hospitality in Pakistan.
Design/methodology/approach
A conceptual framework grounded in the mobile technology acceptance model (MTAM) integrating personal innovativeness in IT, mobile perceived compatibility, perceived critical mass, perceived enjoyment, mobile perceived risk and mobile perceived wireless trust was used as a theoretical model of the study. Using structural equation modeling, we tested the research model and its relevant hypotheses on a sample of 310 mobile wallet nonusers.
Findings
Findings from the expanded model demonstrate that only four of the suggested hypotheses were insignificant in this study and require additional examination. Overall, the modified model explained 63% of the variance in the behavioral intention to adopt mobile wallets. This paper concludes with key implications and directions for future work concerning the limitations of this study.
Originality/value
This study contributes to a theoretical understanding of the factors that explain nonusers’ behavioral intention to use a mobile wallet in the hospitality context.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the adoption of mobile wallet payment services among rural Omani millennials, with a focus on social factors, perceived security, trust considerations and the moderating role of technology self-efficacy in shaping attitudes and intentions towards adoption. It also explores the role of mobile wallets in advancing financial inclusion, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 10 (Reduced inequalities).
Design/methodology/approach
A survey method was used with 544 randomly selected participants from rural Oman. The study used partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) to analyse relationships among the constructs, including subjective norms, perceived security, trust and self-efficacy.
Findings
The results support five hypotheses, confirming the influence of subjective norms, perceived security and technology self-efficacy on attitudes and intentions to adopt mobile wallets. Additionally, mobile wallet self-efficacy emerges as a significant moderator, enhancing the relationship between positive attitudes and behavioural intentions.
Research limitations/implications
The study extends the technology acceptance model (TAM) by incorporating moderating variables such as technology self-efficacy and perceived security, offering theoretical contributions to digital payment adoption literature, especially in rural settings.
Practical implications
The findings underscore the need for trust-building efforts by service providers and collaborative strategies involving government incentives and promotions to foster mobile wallet adoption. Strengthening digital literacy and addressing security concerns are critical for promoting financial inclusion in rural communities.
Originality/value
This research contributes to promoting economic empowerment through mobile wallet adoption in rural Oman, offering valuable insights for policymakers and service providers aiming to reduce socio-economic disparities. By addressing the digital divide and supporting financial inclusion, the study supports the advancement of SDG 10 (Reduced inequalities) and fosters inclusive growth in underserved communities.
