Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to examine involvement and perceived usefulness (PU) as the drivers of loyalty for online booking websites, revealing findings of theoretical and practical relevance. The proposed conceptual model is drawn on elaboration likelihood model (ELM) along with the consideration of expectation confirmation model for loyalty development.

Design/methodology/approach

A two-stage structural equation modeling was applied to test the reliability and validity of the constructs and the strength of the hypothesized relationships.

Findings

Attitudinal loyalty (AL) is found to have a significant role, resulting in behavioral loyalty (BL) toward online booking. The results of this study supported the ELM framework, where involvement and PU resulted in BL through AL. PU and AL also served as mediating mechanisms underlying the impact of consumer involvement on BL.

Originality/value

This study applies the ELM to online ticketing mechanisms and nuances amid AL and BL with their drivers.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aimed to study business model innovation by a work-integration social enterprise (WISE). Specifically, the study investigated how the organization developed novel value propositions and created and delivered value for multiple stakeholders.

Design/methodology/approach

An in-depth qualitative study was conducted at Foreword, a for-profit organization that uses persons with disabilities, mental health conditions and special needs. Data was drawn from semi-structured interviews with stakeholders of the organization and several secondary information sources.

Findings

The authors’ inductive analysis revealed the existence of an innovative and powerful business model that is integrated by the organization’s overarching social mission and anchors its ability to deal with multiple conflicting logics such as economic, social, ecological sustainability and community development, to co-create value with and for multiple stakeholders.

Research limitations/implications

The study underscores the need for business model innovation through enhancing value creation for multiple stakeholders for for-profit WISEs. Since the analysis and resulting model in the study are based on a single organization in a geographically small, affluent country with a hands-on government, they may need to be modified before applying in other contexts.

Practical implications

The study identifies several pointers for other social enterprises – specifically the need for managers to build business models appropriate for their organizational and environmental contexts.

Originality/value

The study’s originality stems from the adoption of a stakeholder lens to examine business model innovation. It also proposes an integrative conceptual model of the antecedents and outcomes of business model innovation.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of the paper is to understand whether, why and when role overload predicts an organization-directed CWB: cyberloafing. To do so, we utilize the Stressor-Emotion–CWB theory and social exchange theory.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors collected data from 506 employees working in five Information Technology (IT) firms in India using a multiwave survey design. Results revealed support for all the hypotheses.

Findings

This study found that negative affect partly carries the influence of role overload to cyberloafing. Secondly, the results indicate that role overload has a direct and positive relationship with cyberloafing. Third and finally, we found that narcissism moderates the positive relationship between role overload and negative affect, followed by cyberloafing.

Originality/value

This paper showcases that role overload can evoke cyberloafing both as a coping mechanism and a retaliatory response directed at the organization. This paper further demonstrates that employees high in narcissism are vulnerable to stressors like role overload, and as a result, they experience more negative emotions and engage in more cyberloafing.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper reviews scholarly literature on electronic banking (EB) research over a three-decade period. The focus of this review is to evaluate the intellectual structure and trends and unearth new areas in the research domain of EB.

Design/methodology/approach

Drawing data from the Scopus database, a bibliometric analysis was performed on 2,391 research articles published in the EB domain. The articles were examined and synthesized through volume analysis, citation analysis, authorship analysis and the level of collaboration, co-citation analysis and keyword co-occurrence analysis. A well-known bibliometric tool, VOSviewer, was used to create and analyse various bibliometric maps, networks and tables.

Findings

This study uncovers the temporal and spatial trends of publications on EB, the most influential documents, authors, productive publication outlets, countries in the domain, the status of collaboration and the major themes that have been studied in the literature. The publication trail over the years has been gauged using overlay visualization.

Practical implications

This paper highlights new concepts that have emerged in EB over the past three decades and suggests future avenues for research in this area.

Originality/value

Research in the domain of EB is empirical, with only a handful of studies being literature reviews. This is the first-of-its-kind study that aims to trace the development of electronic banking over the past 29 years, from 1994 to 2022, through bibliometric analysis and network visualization.

Abstract

Purpose

Environmental, social and governance (ESG) is becoming an increasingly important non-financial parameter for measuring a company’s valuation. The purpose of this study is to assess the relevance of ESG in Indian investors’ decision-making dynamics.

Design/methodology/approach

This study used an exploratory qualitative research approach based on semi-structured in-depth interviews. A mixed method of purposeful and criterion sampling techniques was used to select 21 participants. Thematic content analysis was performed to analyze the data and understand the relevance of ESG in investors’ decision-making process.

Findings

This study finds that while Indian investors are aware of ESG factors, they prioritize traditional financial metrics like returns and risk over ESG considerations. ESG factors are often treated as secondary, hindered by the lack of standardization in data and ratings, making them difficult to quantify and compare. Additionally, concerns about greenwashing and unreliable ESG information further reduce their importance in investment decisions. The findings of this study highlight the need for reliable ESG data, standardization and increased investor education for better integration.

Research limitations/implications

This is an exploratory study with limited participants. Therefore, the results cannot be generalized to the Indian population. Different sampling criteria, a larger sample size or a quantitative research design approach may increase our understanding of the relevance of ESG.

Practical implications

This study provides insights into the awareness, relative importance and challenges of including ESG in investment decision-making. The results suggest further standardization and improving the awareness and trustworthiness of ESG reporting will help improve its relevance.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is one of its kind to investigate the awareness, perception and attitudes of Indian investors toward ESG. This study addresses an identified gap in the existing literature, explores the awareness level of ESG among Indian investors and suggests future research directions.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to improve the corrosion resistance of AH36 carbon steel, an epoxy resin (EP)-based superhydrophobic coating was prepared on the surface of AH36 carbon steel.

Design/methodology/approach

The hydroxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes were used as nanocontainers, and the corrosion inhibitor L-proline was loaded by negative pressure method and then modified it with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane, got functionalized hydroxy carbon nanotubes (KH-CNTs@LP). The KH-CNTs@LP was mixed with the EP, and the KH-CNTs@LP/EP superhydrophobic coating was successfully prepared on the surface of the AH36 carbon steel matrix by spraying.

Findings

The results showed that the water contact angle of the KH-CNTs@LP/EP superhydrophobic coating is 155.2° and the rolling angle is 5°. The KH-CNTs@LP/EP superhydrophobic coating had a good corrosion resistance in the pH = 4 corrosion environment, |Z|0.01 Hz was 7.21 × 107 Ω·cm2.

Originality/value

The KH-CNTs@LP/EP superhydrophobic coating is pH-responsive and releases L-proline, which increased the impedance of the coating and can effectively improve the protection efficiency of the coating on the metal. The active protection is provided by loaded L-proline inhibitor from KH-CNTs@LP, whereas the passive protection is achieved through the water rejection of superhydrophobic surfaces.
