Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to examine the integration of carbon accounting in the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector, focusing on its practical application in sustainability management through case studies of three live events organized by the event company (TEC) (pseudonym), a German event management firm.
Design/methodology/approach
An action research methodology was used, combining participant observation and secondary data analysis. Carbon emissions were calculated using the Myclimate Event Calculator, which provides a comprehensive assessment of event-related emissions.
Findings
The study identifies mobility and accommodation as the dominant sources of carbon emissions in the MICE sector, driven by travel logistics and energy-intensive hotel operations. Catering emissions are variable, with vegetarian menus and minimized food waste showing lower environmental impacts. The findings highlight the critical need for targeted interventions in mobility and accommodation, which collectively account for over 80% of the emissions in many events.
Practical implications
The research offers the practical use of Myclimate calculator in developing actionable insights to enable targeted strategies such as eco-certified accommodations, carpooling and optimized transportation logistics, leading to significant emission reductions and improved sustainability management.
Originality/value
This paper advances sustainability management accounting by demonstrating the practical use of carbon data in event planning, providing granular insights into emission drivers. The focus on small enterprises addresses a significant gap in the literature, demonstrating how resource-constrained organizations can adopt sustainability practices. The paper offers a replicable methodology for assessing event emissions, which enables planners to identify high-impact areas.

Abstract
Purpose
Although much research has examined sustainable consumption, one key factor that has been rediscovered is religion. This study aims to include religiosity as a background variable to extend the theory of planned behavior in measuring the Pakistani youth’s green purchase intentions (GPI) and green purchase behavior (GPB) of energy-efficient home appliances.
Design/methodology/approach
Built on a positivist research philosophy and a deductive approach of a quantitative design, a convenience sample of 317 participants was approached via online forms. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was used to analyze both the measurement model and the structural model.
Findings
The results suggest that religiosity impacts consumers’ beliefs to maintain control over green behavior and perceived behavioral control (PBC), followed by sustainable attitudes (SA), beliefs that significant others endorse green behavior subjective norms (SN) and GPI. Besides, PBC, SN and SA impact GPI. Furthermore, GPI and PBC impact GPB. Finally, PBC, SN and SA mediate the religiosity and GPI link. However, the moderation effect of PBC on the link of GPI with GPB was not supported.
Research limitations/implications
The model developed is specific to the Muslim population in Pakistan. Therefore, the model might only be able to be generalized to nations that have a similar culture to the Muslims in Pakistan or in other developing countries.
Originality/value
The current research advances the knowledge on the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development goal (SDGs) (Goal-12) by clarifying the mechanisms whereby religiosity impacts factors of sustainable consumption including SA, PBC and SN.

Purpose

The bvp4c solver in MATLAB is employed for graphical and numerical outcomes.
Findings
A similar trend of temperature field is seen against thermophoresis and Brownian movement parameters. Thermal transport rate decreases via Prandtl number. Augmentation in mass transport rate is noted through unsteadiness parameter.
Originality/value
To the best of author’s knowledge, no such consideration has been given in the literature yet.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to offer a hybrid stand-alone system for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations (CS), an emerging power scheme due to the availability of renewable and environment-friendly energy sources. This paper presents the analysis of a photovoltaic (PV) with an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) algorithm, solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and a battery storage scheme incorporated for EV CS in a stand-alone mode. In previous studies, either the hydrogen fuel of SOFC or the irradiance is controlled using artificial neural network. These parameters are not controlled simultaneously using an ANFIS-based approach. The ANFIS-based stand-alone hybrid system controlling both the fuel flow of SOFC and the irradiance of PV is discussed in this paper.
Design/methodology/approach
The ANFIS algorithm provides an efficient estimation of maximum power (MP) to the nonlinear voltage–current characteristics of a PV, integrated with a direct current–direct current (DC–DC) converter to boost output voltage up to 400 V. The issue of fuel starvation in SOFC due to load transients is also mitigated using an ANFIS-based fuel flow regulator, which robustly provides fuel, i.e. hydrogen per necessity. Furthermore, to ensure uninterrupted power to the CS, PV is integrated with a SOFC array, and a battery storage bank is used as a backup in the current scenario. A power management system efficiently shares power among the aforesaid sources.
Findings
A comprehensive simulation test bed for a stand-alone power system (PV cells and SOFC) is developed in MATLAB/Simulink. The adaptability and robustness of the proposed control paradigm are investigated through simulation results in a stand-alone hybrid power system test bed.
Originality/value
The simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the ANFIS algorithm in a stand-alone hybrid power system scheme.

Purpose
This study aims to investigate the influence of green human resource management (GHRM) practices on healthcare organization sustainability performance in Pakistan. It explores how perceived organizational support (POS) mediates the relationship between GHRM practices and healthcare organizational sustainability.
Design/methodology/approach
In the quantitative method, a questionnaire was used to acquire the perception of individuals via a simple random method. A total of 320 questionnaires were collected from the employees in the healthcare organizations of Pakistan, with a 47.70% response rate. Hypotheses were tested using SmartPLS (PLS-SEM).
Findings
The results reveal a positive relationship between GHRM practices and healthcare organization sustainability performance. POS partially mediated the relationship, strengthening the effectiveness of GHRM practices in boosting organizational sustainability.
Originality/value
The present study contributes to the understanding of GHRM practices in the healthcare industry, particularly in the context of emerging nations like Pakistan. It demonstrates a novel mediation role of POS to bolster the effectiveness of GHRM practices for gaining sustainability performance. The research proposes significant insight for both scholars and practitioners on how supportive corporate cultures affect the GHRM initiatives that foster economic, environmental and social sustainability.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to present insights for the preparation of ethical practices in the banking industry of gulf cooperation council (GCC) countries for profit maximization. This study presented information regarding ethical banking practices to determine to which extent banks in GCC countries practiced ethics.
Design/methodology/approach
This study followed a mixed-method approach, including both qualitative and quantitative data. For quantitative, data were collected from senior managers employed in 52 leading Islamic and conventional banks across the GCC countries, including the banks in the Kingdom of Bahrain and also from the banks in Kuwait. However, for qualitative analysis, an interview with an Islamic banking specialist was conducted.
Findings
The findings of both, qualitative and results from answer of respondents and quantitative results, that is, 91% of respondents strongly agreed that Islamic banks are more committed to ethical investments of projects, revealed that Islamic banks follow more ethical practices than conventional banks. Therefore, the mean score for EBP4 is 4.55 with moderate SD of 1.267. This statistical evidence is in favor that Islamic banks follow more ethical principles.
Research limitations/implications
Respondents were recruited randomly, and the samples consisted of only senior executives and not customers. Because of time and resource limitations, these executives were a sample of conventional and Islamic banks in the GCC only and not from other regions.
Practical implications
The results of this study provided valuable insights to conventional financial institutions, enabling them to enhance their operations as Islamic banks align with more ethical standards.
Originality/value
The research originality lies in its contribution for GCC countries by presenting a comparative view. This study defined and compared similarities and differences of Islamic and conventional banks to indicate how Islamic banks particularly implement more ethical standards than conventional banks.

Purpose
The literature on knowledge management in sustainable supply chain (KMSSC) has witnessed significant growth in the past two decades. However, a scientometric review that consolidates the primary trends and clusters within this topic has been notably absent. This paper aims to scrutinize recent advancements and identify the intellectual underpinnings of KMSSC research conducted between 2002 and 2022.
Design/methodology/approach
The present review employs a scientometric analysis approach via visualization maps of prolific contributions, co-citation, co-occurrence and thematic networks to examine a total of 114 articles and conference papers on KMSSC.
Findings
Emerging research frontiers and hotspots are revealed and a state-of-the-art framework of KMSSC research structure is developed.
Practical implications
The review provides significant implications that guide KMSSC research and better inform sustainability decisions in the supply chain context.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first review to thoroughly synthesize the intersected domain of KMSSC using scientometric analysis.
