Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive exploration of academic research on halal purchasing decisions and consumer behavior by integrating bibliometric and systematic review methodologies.
Design/methodology/approach
This study uses a multi-method approach, combining bibliometric and systematic review methodologies, to comprehensively analyze the domain of halal purchasing decisions and consumer behavior. A data set of 184 articles published between 2007 and 2024 was sourced from the Scopus database. The bibliometric analysis was conducted using Bibliometrix in R, facilitating performance analysis, science mapping and network analysis to explore key authors, affiliations, collaborations and thematic trends. Additionally, the systematic review examined the limitations and future research areas discussed in prior studies, providing the basis for formulating potential research questions to address identified gaps.
Findings
The study identifies significant contributions within the domain of halal purchasing decisions and consumer behavior, emphasizing the critical roles of religiosity, trust and halal certification as dominant themes. Bibliometric analysis reveals key authors, influential publications and collaborative networks, highlighting Malaysia as a central hub for research in this field. Additionally, the analysis underscores the intellectual structure and thematic evolution, identifying underexplored areas such as non-Muslim perspectives, emerging halal industries and geographic diversity. The systematic review complements these insights by addressing recurring methodological and theoretical limitations, offering targeted recommendations for future research.
Originality/value
This research uniquely combines bibliometric and systematic review methodologies to provide a comprehensive review of the halal consumer behavior literature, identifying limitations and gaps in prior studies and proposing actionable areas for future research.

Purpose
Developing and maintaining green innovation (GI) and environmental performance (EP) has become a significant challenge for every organization. The present paper attempts to confirm the contributions of technology leadership (TL) and green HRM (GHRM) to green work engagement (GWE), GI and EP. The study also recognizes GWE’s contribution to connecting TL, GHRM, GI and EP.
Design/methodology/approach
The study applies a deductive approach where data are gathered through questionnaires from employees of manufacturing firms in Egypt. Consequently, the study utilizes 312 cases to draw its conclusions.
Findings
With regard to analysis, the researcher used path analysis through AMOS and established a positive effect of TL on GI and EP but a negative on GWE. GHRM has been confirmed to predict GWE, GI and EP positively. Furthermore, GWE positively influences GI and EP among the employees of manufacturing firms in Egypt. The indirect paths establish a significant contribution of GWE in developing the links between TL and EP, GHRM, GI and EP. On the other hand, it negatively affects the link between TL and GI.
Practical implications
The study assists employers in setting green goals for their employees by offering the required knowledge, skills and training for green environmental management. The study also benefits employees’ workplace green behaviors in performance appraisals and promotions.
Originality/value
The study’s originality assists in overcoming the remaining gaps in the literature by enriching the penetration of the literature from a developing context.

Purpose
This paper examines the impact of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), regulated stablecoins and tokenized traditional assets on the cryptocurrency market, following the guidelines set by the Basel Committee. This study aims to analyze the implications for secure storage, cross-border transfers and necessary investments.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper uses a policy analysis approach to assess the potential effects of the Basel Committee’s regulations on CBDCs, regulated stablecoins and tokenized traditional assets. It explores their impact on the cryptoasset market, strategies of central and commercial banks, payment systems and risk management.
Findings
The adoption of CBDCs, regulated stablecoins and tokenized traditional assets is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years. It raises concerns about secure storage, cross-border transfers and required investments. Central banks are likely to introduce CBDCs and authorize stablecoin issuance, aiming for efficient monetary policies and risk management. Basel III regulations may lead to asset tokenization by banks, reducing asset size and increasing fee-based income.
Originality/value
This paper provides insights into the potential impact of the Basel Committee's regulations on CBDCs, regulated stablecoins and tokenized traditional assets. It contributes to the understanding of the evolving cryptoasset market and the strategies of central and commercial banks in adopting these technologies. The findings offer valuable information for policymakers, regulators and market participants in navigating the changing landscape of digital assets.

Abstract
Purpose
Mega-infrastructure development plans pave the way for policies to upgrade the infrastructure, environmental management and different aspects of locals’ well-being. These developmental dynamics can positively affect rural tourism including heritage sites destinations. The quality of life of local people can be linked to this positive developmental change through long-term and sustainable economic revitalization projects. In terms of this process, developing large-scale infrastructure and incorporating tourism sustainability can improve the quality of life-related to different dimensions that are critical to the community's well-being. Therefore, researchers have attempted to address this issue.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected between September and October 2020. The study sample size was the residents of Zhabagly village, including Zhabagaly, Abaiyl and 115 Railway settlements. Moreover, the residents were older than 18 years. A systematic random sampling technique was utilised to reach the targeted sample size and the researchers received 243 responses from the locals. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used for analysis.
Findings
The findings from the structural equation modelling suggest that sustainable tourism increases due to the positive effect of mega-infrastructure development and positively impacts the locals' quality of life. Notably, no direct effect of mega-infrastructure development on quality of life reveals the pivotal role of sustainable tourism. Therefore, during the COVID-19 period, the dimensions of sustainable tourism – economic, market, socio-cultural and environmental – played a role in securing the positive impact of mega-infrastructure development on the locals’ quality of life.
Research limitations/implications
This research highlighted the fact that when infrastructure projects are implemented to their full potential, they will generate sustainable tourism activities, provide eco-adventure activities, relax, treat signatories and boost the economy of all stakeholders. The study used AMOS to test the hypotheses. Qualitative research methods, including interviews with citizens, government officials and tourism managers, require further study.
Practical implications
The infrastructural development on a mega-scale means building an upscaling tourism ecosystem. This ecosystem is marked by the availability of drinking water, waste and energy management facilities that support the elevation of living material, community, health, safety and emotional well-being. It reflects the policy-level implications for future Belt and Road initiatives (BRIs). The tourism industry's resilience during COVID-19 has practical lessons for other industries.
Originality/value
Large-scale infrastructure construction must create favourable conditions for the rapid development of tourism. The availability of clean water, waste and energy management facilities contributes to the food production, social cohesion, physical and mental health and general well-being of the ecosystem. This is one of the few studies that used sustainable tourism as a mediator between the impact of large infrastructure projects and their impact on the quality of life of locals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Aksu-Zhabagly, a World Heritage Site in Kazakhstan, was the site of this field study.

Purpose
In the context of macroeconomic fluctuations and uncertainty in policy changes, it is essential to understand how companies adapt their environmental strategies and marketing tactics to ensure survival and growth. This study, therefore, examines the impact of perceived economic policy uncertainty on corporate greenwashing.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on panel data from listed companies on the Chinese A-share market between 2013 and 2022, this paper employs a high-dimensional fixed effects model to explore the impact of perceived economic policy uncertainty (PEPU) on corporate greenwashing behavior.
Findings
The results show that higher PEPU increases greenwashing, with agency costs and investor sentiment mediating the relationship. Corporate credit availability and managerial short-sightedness positively moderate this effect. Heterogeneity analysis reveals that non-state-owned enterprises in central and western regions, particularly those with weak environmental regulation and high pollution, are most impacted by PEPU.
Practical implications
This paper provides practical guidance for how to avoid the phenomenon of green reshuffle in economic and environmental policies and encourages enterprises to take more real and effective environmental protection measures.
Originality/value
These findings highlight the importance of considering corporate responses to policy uncertainty when formulating economic and environmental policies. They provide valuable insights for emerging economies in fostering genuine corporate environmental behavior and promoting sustainable development.

Abstract
Purpose
This study examines the dynamic capability and resource-based view theories in the context of the tourism and hospitality industry, examining how the green dynamic capabilities of firms interact with green marketing strategies to influence their level of green competitive advantage under the boundary condition of the green organizational culture of Saudi Arabia’s tourism and hospitality sector.
Design/methodology/approach
Using multi-sourced and three-wave time-lagged data from 136 managers and their subordinates within the Saudi Arabian tourism industry to test the hypotheses.
Findings
The results reveal that all hypotheses were accepted, affirming the direct, mediating, moderating and moderated mediating associations among green dynamic capabilities, green marketing strategies, green organizational culture and green competitive advantage.
Originality/value
This study offers valuable insights for practitioners and policymakers seeking to enhance the sustainability performance and competitive advantage of firms in the ever-evolving tourism sector.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper analyses the role of green human resources management (GHRM) practices on the application of logistics social responsibility (LSR) practices and examines the moderating effect of big data analytics (BDA) utilisation levels within these relationships.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on quantitative research methodology using survey data from 404 managers in the logistics service providers (LSPs) industry in the Philippines, PLS-SEM technique was used to test hypotheses formulated in this research.
Findings
Empirical results achieved suggest that GHRM practices have a significant positive impact on LSR. Among all individual GHRM practices, green training and development did not have any influence on LSR. While the results also revealed that BDA assimilation acts as a moderator of the relationship between GHRM and LSR, no support was found for the moderation effect of BDA acceptance or adoption on this relationship.
Originality/value
The study fills a gap in the logistics literature by introducing dynamic capabilities theory to the nexus between GHRM and SLR for the first time, which reveals previously unknown answers on effects of GHRM practices on LSR. The study also introduces BDA assimilation as an important moderator that can strengthen positive impact of GHRM on LSR.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper examines the impact of green human resource management (GHRM) practices on employees’ pro-environmental behavior in Pakistan’s hospitality industry. It attempts to identify the critical success factors involved in promoting GHRM and pro-environmental behaviors at the workplace using Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) and cross-impact matrix multiplication applied to classification (MICMAC) approaches. Later, based on the ability-motivation-opportunity (AMO) model, the study also categorizes the identified critical factors into three categories: ability, motivation and opportunity.
Design/methodology/approach
The ISM approach was applied to determine the contextual relationship among the identified critical success factors responsible for promoting GHRM. MICMAC, a structural technique to analyze and validate the ISM-based model, was used to determine the autonomous, dependent, linkage and independent factors based on expert opinions and judgments. The goal was to determine the role of GHRM in transforming the pro-environmental behavior of employees.
Findings
The study’s findings show that the proper integration of effective GHRM practices significantly impacts pro-environmental employee behavior. The hierarchical model introduces innovation in the field of GHRM because ISM-based hierarchical models are flexible enough to include or exclude practices according to the green organizational objectives in the hospitality industry within the context of Pakistan. The results offer a comprehensive illustration of the importance of GHRM practices in facilitating, encouraging and promoting employees to take green initiatives and achieve business sustainability.
Research limitations/implications
The study utilizes the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) technique to identify key success criteria for GHRM, while the innovative approaches of ISM and MICMAC techniques were used to investigate employee pro-environmental behaviors. This novel method gives GHRM research an analytical direction by providing an organized framework for evaluating the impact of GHRM initiatives on environmental outcomes. Additionally, by focusing on developed economies rather than emerging ones, our study within Pakistan’s hospitality sector fills a knowledge vacuum on the dynamics of GHRM in a developing nation.
Practical implications
This study highlights the significance of managers in the hospitality sector serving as role models for implementing GHRM practices to encourage pro environmental behavior among employees. Prioritizing green structural capital, establishing standard environmentally friendly criteria for hiring and evaluating prospective employees and initiating green projects to promote a psychologically green environment are some of the key recommendations. Improving environmental performance, employee satisfaction and loyalty in the hotel industry requires constant communication, training and employee participation in sustainability decision-making.
Originality/value
The GHRM practices have been extensively discussed by academics and researchers. However, there is a notable absence of discussion on the key factors that play a role in transforming employees’ attitudes and behaviors.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to examine the effect of dividend policy on firm value for financial sector in an emerging country. Furthermore, it examines the moderating effect of IFRS adoption and the abolishment of mandatory dividend payment policy with considering the Lintner model of dividend smoothing.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected from 111 firms listed on Borsa Istanbul in the financial sector in Turkey over 1995–2017. Using an explanatory research design, this study performs various multivariate regression techniques to investigate the proposed relationships.
Findings
The outcomes demonstrate a positive and significant association between dividend policy and firm value. In addition, the relationship has strengthened after IFRS adoption, indicating that accounting information such as dividend-based ratios prepared under IFRS is more value relevant. The empirical outcomes supported the Lintner model, which is persistent with the signalling hypothesis. Moreover, the findings state that the abolishment of mandatory dividend payment in 2009 strengthened the association between dividend policy and firm value for financial institutions in Turkey.
Practical implications
These results provide an insight to the investors and managers that the effect of IFRS adoption and other policy changes could be greater on the association between dividend policy and firm value. The study empirically tests Lintner model of dividend smoothing for financial firms in an emerging economy.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the literature through providing vital insights on the relationship between dividend policy and firm value and empirically revisiting the Lintner model for financial sector in a developing economy, specifically Turkey. Furthermore, it addresses the influence of IFRS implementation on the association between dividend policy and firm value. These findings are robust to alternative sampling methods and to controlling for other factors which influence firm value.

Purpose
Although the importance and variety of emotions have been emphasized in existing literature, studies on discrete emotions remain limited. This study aims to propose a method for more precise recognition and calculation of emotions in massive amounts of online data on attraction visitor experiences and behaviour, by using discrete emotion theory.
Design/methodology/approach
Using HowNet’s word similarity calculation technique, this study integrated multiple generic dictionaries, including the sentiment vocabulary ontology database of the Dalian University of Technology, the National Taiwan University Sentiment Dictionary and the Boson Dictionary. Word2vec algorithm filters emotion words unique to hospitality and tourism in 1,596,398 texts from Sogou News, Wikipedia and Ctrip reviews about attractions, and 1,765,691 reviews about attractions in China.
Findings
The discrete sentiment dictionary developed in this study outperformed the original dictionary in identifying and calculating emotions, with a total vocabulary extension of 12.07%, demonstrating its applicability to tourism.
Research limitations/implications
The developed new dictionary can be used by researchers and managers alike to quickly and accurately evaluate products and services based on online visitor reviews.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first to construct a sentiment dictionary based on discrete emotion theory applicable to hospitality and tourism in the Chinese context. This study extended the applicability of affective psychology to hospitality and tourism using discrete emotion theory. Moreover, the study offers a methodological framework for developing a domain-specific sentiment dictionary, potentially applicable to other domains in hospitality.
