Autistic children, particularly those with an intellectual disability, often face difficulties with early verbal development and social interaction. The science of behaviour analysis has developed procedures shown through research to help support and teach these skills. Interventions focusing solely on manipulating the antecedent stimuli in the environment are presented less frequently in the literature than those concerned with response consequences. This study aims to evaluate if changes to the classroom environment would evoke prosocial behaviours during play sessions.

A multiple treatment reversal design was used to compare the presence of anthropomorphic toys, pet animals and toys themed upon preferred interests, introduced on a central table within the existing play area. Data were collected on the social behaviour of peers in two primary classrooms.

For five of the six participants, all three conditions resulted in increased social behaviour compared to baseline conditions.

At the time of the study, social interaction opportunities were limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, placing greater emphasis on safely encouraging opportunities within the classroom to ensure skill maintenance. Due to the reported outcomes, educators, particularly in specialised settings, should focus on evaluating their classroom environment to ensure the contents and layout support children in maintaining and generalising their social skills. Further research on the benefits of class pets is also encouraged.

In recent decades, emerging market multinational enterprises (EMNEs) have predominantly adopted a big step internationalization strategy to expand their business overseas. This study aims to examine the effect of big step internationalization on the speed of subsequent foreign direct investment (FDI) expansion for EMNEs. The authors also investigate the potential boundary conditions.

The authors use the random effects generalized least squares (GLS) regression following a hierarchical approach to analyze the panel data set conducted by a sample of publicly listed Chinese firms from 2001 to 2012.

The findings indicate that implementing big step internationalization in the initial stages accelerates the speed of subsequent FDI expansion. Notably, the authors find that this effect is more pronounced for firms that opt for acquisitions as the entry mode in their first big step internationalization and possess a board of directors with strong political connections to their home country’s government. In contrast, the board of director’s international experience negatively moderates this effect.

This study provides insights into our scholarly and practical understanding of EMNEs’ big step internationalization and subsequent FDI expansion speed, which offers important implications for firms’ decision-makers and policymakers.

This study extends the internationalization theory, broadens the international business literature on the consequences of big step internationalization and deepens the theoretical and practical understanding of foreign expansion strategies in EMNEs.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating influence of three digitalization antecedents on the links between digitalization and survival. It addresses the roots of digitalization to discover different patterns and foundations that contribute to higher survival rates. The article explores whether a learning strategy can attain survivability on its own or whether digitalization facilitates the function of learning in survival.

The study uses partial least squares structural equation modeling to analyze data from 483 firms to assess this study’s hypothesis. Additionally, necessary condition analysis (NCA) is used to specify the necessary conditions of survivability.

The authors find a positive relationship between digitalization and business survival, as well as evidence of the strong mediating effect of resilience and learning in survivability. In addition, the study reveals that digitalization can serve as a sufficient condition for survival but not a necessary one, as it may be replaced by the mediating variables.

The research offers insights into digitalization’s impact on business survival but faces limitations such as geographic focus and reliance on self-reported data. Despite this, it contributes to theory and practice by exploring how digitalization, organizational capabilities and resilience intersect.

This study provides insights into the required parameters for survival and the elimination of outliers in NCA.
