Abstract
This research article explores the intricate relationship between self-help groups (SHGs) and destination sustainability in the context of tourism. SHGs, typically formed by individuals with shared interests and objectives, have gained prominence as a means to promote economic, social and environmental sustainability at tourism destinations. This study investigates the impact of SHGs on destination sustainability, focusing on various dimensions, including economic empowerment, cultural preservation, environmental conservation and social development. After conducting an extensive review of the literature and supported by empirical case studies, this chapter undertakes a comprehensive analysis of the role played by SHGs in promoting the sustainability of tourism destinations. Furthermore, it examines the challenges encountered by SHGs in their pursuit of sustainable tourism objectives. The findings of this research contribute to a better understanding of the potential of SHGs in fostering destination sustainability and provide valuable insights for policymakers, destination managers and stakeholders interested in harnessing the power of community-driven initiatives for sustainable tourism.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to further investigate the potential benefits brought about by the development of modern technology in the steel construction industry. Specifically, the study focuses on the optimization of tapered members for pre-engineered steel structures, aligning with Eurocode 3 standards. By emphasizing the effectiveness of material utilization in construction, this research aims to enhance the structural performance and safety of buildings. Moreover, it recognizes the pivotal role played by such advancements in promoting economic growth through the reduction of material waste, optimization of cost-efficiency and support for sustainable construction practices.
Design/methodology/approach
Structural performance at initial analysis and final analysis of the selected critical frame were carried out using Dlubal RSTAB 8.18. The structural frame stability and sway imperfections were checked based on MS EN1993-1-1:2005 (EC3). To assess the structural stability of the portal frame using MS EN 1993-1-1:2005 (EC3), cross-sectional resistance and member buckling resistance were verified based on Clause 6.2.4 – Compression, Clause 6.2.5 – Bending Moment, Clause 6.2.6 – Shear, Clause 6.2.8 – Bending and Shear, Clause 6.2.9 – Bending and Axial Force and Clause 6.3.4 – General Method for Lateral and Lateral Torsional Buckling of Structural Components.
Findings
In this study, the cross sections of the web-tapered rafter and column were classified under Class 4. These involved the consideration of elastic shear resistance and effective area on the critical steel sections. The application of the General Method on the verification of the resistance to lateral and lateral torsional buckling for structural components required the extraction of some parameters using structural analysis software. From the results, there was only 5.90% of mass difference compared with the previous case study.
Originality/value
By classifying the web-tapered cross sections of the rafter and column under Class 4, the study accounts for important factors such as elastic shear resistance and effective area on critical steel sections.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to examine the role of bullying victimization in predicting psychopathology, encompassing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), risk of developing prodromal psychosis and emotional and behavioural problems, among in-school Nigerian adolescents.
Design/methodology/approach
A total of 351 junior secondary students (n = 173 males, 178 females; age range: 9–17 years) were recruited from five randomly selected public secondary schools in Nigeria. Students completed a variety of self-report measures, including a socio-demographic questionnaire, the prodromal questionnaire – brief version, the strengths and difficulties questionnaire (SDQ) and the multidimensional peer victimization scale. They were also interviewed using the PTSD module of the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview-Kid Version.
Findings
Although bullying victimization was not found to predict the presence of PTSD, it predicted the risk of developing prodromal psychosis. All SDQ subscales also held significant positive associations with bullying victimization. This indicates that higher levels of victimization are associated with increased behavioural and emotional difficulties among adolescents.
Practical implications
The study findings add support to whole system approaches involving relevant stakeholders in health, education, social and criminal justice sectors via protective policies to address the problems of bullying in schools.
Originality/value
The study contributes to evidence demonstrating a need for improved understanding regarding the role of exposure to bullying victimization in predicting various forms of psychopathology. Furthermore, there is specifically a need for research with this focus in developing countries in sub-Saharan Africa and the Nigerian education system.

Abstract
Purpose
The primary purpose of the study is to explore the evolving landscape of the contemporary workplace, specifically focusing on the role of high-performance work system (HPWS) and its positive relationship with job performance.
Design/methodology/approach
The study is based on an extensive literature review method. The research adopts a positive psychological approach to unravel the underlying mechanism by which HPWS influences job performance. The study employs an integrative framework that is firmly rooted in the conservation of resources theory, broaden-and-build theory, and social exchange theory.
Findings
The findings of the study reveal that HPWS functions as a resource acquisition platform, fostering employees' psychological capital (PsyCap). This, in turn, leads to a state of complete well-being (FAW) characterized by positive emotions and optimal functioning. Importantly, this state of well-being broadens personal resources, ultimately sustaining high job performance.
Practical implications
The study highlights the significance of aligning HPWS practices with PsyCap and positive work experiences such as flourishing. Understanding the optimized job performance that results from a positive work environment and the cultivation of PsyCap can guide organizations in enhancing their human resource strategies.
Originality/value
The study adds value by providing a positive psychological mechanism connecting HPWS and Job performance. So far none of the studies have explored a positive psychological mechanism connecting these variables.

Abstract
Purpose
A descriptive case study approach was adopted to examine employees' perceptions of the prevalence and usefulness of wellness programs. Relying on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Health ScoreCard (CDC HSC), this study aims to assess the prevalence of worksite wellness programs, policies and benefits in general and incorporated employee perspectives to contextualize the CDC HSC wellness assessments.
Design/methodology/approach
The authors first compared the CDC HSC assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of wellness programs in 20 select organizations. Follow-up employee interviews (n = 25) were conducted to contextualize the CDC HSC assessments.
Findings
A variety of wellness programs are likely to increase employee engagement and participation when organizations adopt a bundling approach to combine wellness policies, incentives and an array of wellness programming opportunities that encourage and incentivize employees’ health promotion behaviors.
Research limitations/implications
Future researchers might examine health metrics, in terms of dollars, doctor visits or biometrics before and after the implementation of a wellness program or paid wellness coordinator. Because this study interviewed employees and not members of executive leadership or finance and accounting, financial metrics were not available or the focus of this study. The inclusion of leaders and directors of wellness initiatives would offer additional ways for examining the impact of wellness initiatives on employee behaviors on organizational outcomes.
Practical implications
Nutrition, weight management and chronic disease management were identified as major challenges impacting the health of employees. Even when organizations reported robust scores in their CDC HSC assessments, employers identified these three areas as critical for sustaining the health and well-being of their employees. Finally, the issue of employee safety was a top priority for all organizations regardless of how they scored on their CDC HSC assessments.
Social implications
The authors suggest that when high-impact wellness practices are linked to organizational supports in the workplace, these efforts are likely to have more positive effects on both employee outcomes and organizational outcomes. A regular routine of checking on wellness issues can help keep potential problems from going unnoticed. An example of this is a reminder to stretch at a morning meeting or during work hours as a reminder to stay focused on health and well-being.
Originality/value
The authors aggregated the organizational assessments for different wellness interventions and compared the scores (falling above or below) with standardized CDC wellness scores. The incorporation of the CDC scorecard ensured a standardized and evidence-based evaluation of workplace wellness programs. This additional step informed the interview guide and follow-up with employees who offered recommendations for how organizations could enhance their wellness programs and policies.

Abstract
Purpose
This study explores the pivotal relationship between humble leadership (HL) and flourishing-at-work (FAW) in the context of the information technology-enabled services (ITes) industry. Specifically, it explores the mediating role of psychological empowerment (PE) and the moderating influence of proactive personality (PP) in this dynamic interplay.
Design/methodology/approach
Data from a comprehensive survey of 342 full-time employees from information technology-enabled services (ITes) organizations in India were meticulously analyzed. Utilizing covariance-based structural equation modeling (CB-SEM) in IBM AMOS 21.0.
Findings
The results illuminate the positive impact of HL on PE, subsequently enhancing FAW among employees. Furthermore, PE was identified as a partial mediator in the relationship between HL and FAW. Intriguingly, this mediation process was found to be significantly stronger when employees exhibited a higher degree of proactive personality.
Practical implications
This research underscores the critical importance of cultivating humble leadership within organizations. The findings emphasize the potential of targeted training programs aimed at nurturing humble leadership qualities among managerial staff. By doing so, organizations can significantly contribute to the emotional, psychological and social well-being of their employees, ultimately fostering a state of FAW.
Originality/value
This research innovatively links the concepts of humble leadership and FAW within the specific context of the ITes industry. By integrating PE as a mediator and PP as a moderator, this study not only fills a critical gap in existing literature but also provides a robust framework for future research.

This chapter delves into the complex yet fascinating arena of Islamic finance, looking at its historical foundations and dealing with today’s complexities. There is a huge struggle in Islamic economics in meeting the contemporary needs while practising moderate framework, observing the difference between strictly abiding by the rules and achieving the ethical goals beyond the profit. It urges for a value-driven approach within institutions and the implementation of the zakat, sadaqah and waqf systems to fill the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) financing gap. Seizing the opportunities, the chapter promotes the necessity of Islamic fiqh experts with current Shari’ah body of knowledge in considering the ethical and legal aspects alongside fintech. This is essentially to ensure that the implementation of Islamic finance enables the sustainable economic development. Looking toward the Industry 5.0, it expects a combination of artificial intelligence (AI) with Islamic finance and identifies Islamic social finance as a powerful socially-driven tool. Abstract
Purpose
This paper investigates the moderated mediation roles of dynamic capabilities and self-initiated AI learning between job crafting and entrepreneurial innovativeness among owner-managers of family craft businesses in Ghana.
Design/methodology/approach
A convenience sampling technique was used in the selection of 498 family craft business owner-managers in Ghana. The paper deployed regression analysis to examine the hypothesized paths.
Findings
Using hierarchical regression, job crafting was found to have a positive effect on entrepreneurs’ innovativeness. Further, dynamic capabilities moderate the mediated link between self-initiated AI learning and entrepreneurial innovativeness.
Research limitations/implications
The current study assesses self-initiated learning for work adjustment from a cross-sectional design perspective. Though, this research design is effective in the assessment of opinions and attitudes of persons, it is limited in its capacity to reflect changing opinions and attitudes overtime. This study recommends future studies to conduct a longitudinal survey on the phenomenon.
Originality/value
This study is one of the first to deploy AI affordances to extend empirical literature on the novel SIWAL concept for work adjustment among craft family business owner-managers in Africa.
