Abstract
Purpose
The manufacturing industry has recently faced many environmental issues and pressures due to increased environmental awareness. Business leaders identified that green innovation (GI) is a crucial aspect of sustainable development (SD) and can provide a competitive edge. On the other hand, boosting SD through GI is a complicated network activity involving various partners, and there is a need to transmit or share knowledge equitably and acceptably. Following the natural resource-based view (NRBV), this research presents a novel framework for investigating how green knowledge sharing (GKS) and green dynamic capabilities (GDC) affect green creativity (GC) and GI directly and through GC. Besides, the moderation of mimetic pressure (MP) was also evaluated in these targeted relations, as it is a critical element for enhancing GI in the context of SD.
Design/methodology/approach
Data consisted 232 respondents from Pakistani manufacturing industries, and seven substantial hypotheses were verified regarding the direct, mediating and moderating effect of targeted variables in confounding ways using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).
Findings
According to the empirical findings, GKS and GDC positively correlate with GC and GI. Moreover, GKS and GDC significantly and positively impact GI both directly and indirectly. Furthermore, GC partially mediates GI, whereas MP has a significant moderating effect in these relationships.
Originality/value
A significant correlation among these constructs was observed, demonstrating the conceptual framework for this study. These findings can assist practitioners and academics gain a better understanding of how to manage and evaluate GI in manufacturing projects at both the project and firm levels. Therefore, policymakers and project managers can enhance GI by focusing more on GKS, GDC, MP and GC.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper investigates the impact of various leadership styles on the professionalization and subsequent performance of family businesses.
Design/methodology/approach
Using a survey method and employing a partial least squares approach to structural equation modeling, we tested our model and analyzed the collected data based on the responses of 216 managers in Iran.
Findings
Our research demonstrates that professionalization mediates the relationship between leadership style and performance. Moreover, our findings show that the participative leadership style is the most effective option for family businesses seeking to achieve professionalization and improve performance.
Research limitations/implications
First, the sample used in this study was drawn from a single country, namely Iran. Second, although we adhered to established practices for measuring financial performance, future research could explore alternative dimensions of performance, including non-financial goals. Third, we did not investigate the impact of different leadership styles on each dimension of professionalization.
Practical implications
These findings provide valuable insights for family business managers seeking to adopt a suitable leadership style to achieve professional management and realize favorable outcomes.
Originality/value
Our study suggests that examining the potential impact of leadership styles on professionalization can provide clarity amidst mixed findings regarding the influence of professionalization on firm performance. Additionally, we challenge the oversimplified categorization of professionalization and argue for a multifaceted view, contending that professionalization comprises various dimensions acting concurrently and potentially mediates the effect of leadership styles on family business performance.

The automobile industry is widely recognized as a key sector with strong industrial linkages that significantly contribute to economic growth. This chapter focuses on the export of energy vehicles in BRICS countries from 2015 to 2021, evaluating export sophistication using panel data. Given that industrial upgrading is a long-term and dynamic economic process, the study employs a dynamic panel model to analyze the relationship between energy vehicle export sophistication and industrial upgrading. The findings reveal a significant positive correlation between the export sophistication of energy vehicles and industrial upgrading in BRICS countries from an economic perspective. Export sophistication emerges as a critical internal factor in advancing the technological structure of export trade. Conversely, external factors such as research and development, foreign direct investment, and GDP growth show comparatively less influence. Therefore, the exportation of energy vehicles presents a valuable opportunity for driving industrial upgrading in BRICS countries.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to explore the intersection of AI-generated learning materials and active learning strategies in higher education artificial intelligence (AI) is bringing about changes and opening up new possibilities for an improved and more efficient higher education. However, the argument is that its use in education/classroom should be informed by verifiable evidence as well as best practice, which this scholarly work helps build evidence-based research to assess this technology in higher education.
Design/methodology/approach
Primary data was collected through structured questionnaire administered online via Google form. Based on the non-probability sampling technique, 300 higher education tutors and students across the UK were purposively targeted, out of which 218 (72.7%) response rate was achieved. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences, whereby regression, correlation and Chi-square tests were conducted to determine the statistical significance, direction and strength of the relationship between the measured variables.
Findings
This study revealed that AI-generated learning materials support active learning strategies that enable students to actively engage in their learning, likewise enabling students to develop deeper understanding of their course content with significantly better knowledge retention, which is critical to the learning process. However, findings further revealed that acceptance/regular use of AI-generated learning materials is still below par across the higher education institutions, and there is major concern that the benefits may not be fully realized due to barriers to adoption.
Research limitations/implications
There are limitations that future studies can improve on, especially in terms of methodology. Pragmatism is a philosophical research stance that integrates quantitative data collection with qualitative data (such as interviews) and will ask in-depth questions to gain holistic quality data for such empirical. Future studies can also improve on the research scope to allow for generalizability of findings and check for potential biases in the data collection, analysis and interpretation processes.
Originality/value
Despite the huge anticipation regarding how AI technology could transform teachers’ roles in higher education, concrete research into AI-generated learning materials and actual impact in facilitating active learning strategies and knowledge retention is currently lacking. This study presents theoretical models on AI acceptance in higher education and explored the Technology, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge framework to inform empirical information on how AI can support active learning strategies and students’ knowledge retention.

Design/methodology/approach
Using time-lagged data from 331 salespeople-customers dyads, this study investigates the connection between search regret, store image, interaction quality, and store revisit intentions.
Findings
Customers develop negative perceptions of the store, subsequently reducing their intentions to revisit. Salespeople’s interaction quality can reduce the negative impact of search regret on store image and revisit intentions. Furthermore, store image serves as a mediator between search regret and revisit intentions.
Originality/value
This study marks the first attempt to investigate the store image and revisit intentions as outcomes of search regret and examines the moderating role of salespeople’s interaction quality in reducing the negative consequences of search regret.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper examines the impact of green human resource management (GHRM) practices on employees’ pro-environmental behavior in Pakistan’s hospitality industry. It attempts to identify the critical success factors involved in promoting GHRM and pro-environmental behaviors at the workplace using Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) and cross-impact matrix multiplication applied to classification (MICMAC) approaches. Later, based on the ability-motivation-opportunity (AMO) model, the study also categorizes the identified critical factors into three categories: ability, motivation and opportunity.
Design/methodology/approach
The ISM approach was applied to determine the contextual relationship among the identified critical success factors responsible for promoting GHRM. MICMAC, a structural technique to analyze and validate the ISM-based model, was used to determine the autonomous, dependent, linkage and independent factors based on expert opinions and judgments. The goal was to determine the role of GHRM in transforming the pro-environmental behavior of employees.
Findings
The study’s findings show that the proper integration of effective GHRM practices significantly impacts pro-environmental employee behavior. The hierarchical model introduces innovation in the field of GHRM because ISM-based hierarchical models are flexible enough to include or exclude practices according to the green organizational objectives in the hospitality industry within the context of Pakistan. The results offer a comprehensive illustration of the importance of GHRM practices in facilitating, encouraging and promoting employees to take green initiatives and achieve business sustainability.
Research limitations/implications
The study utilizes the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) technique to identify key success criteria for GHRM, while the innovative approaches of ISM and MICMAC techniques were used to investigate employee pro-environmental behaviors. This novel method gives GHRM research an analytical direction by providing an organized framework for evaluating the impact of GHRM initiatives on environmental outcomes. Additionally, by focusing on developed economies rather than emerging ones, our study within Pakistan’s hospitality sector fills a knowledge vacuum on the dynamics of GHRM in a developing nation.
Practical implications
This study highlights the significance of managers in the hospitality sector serving as role models for implementing GHRM practices to encourage pro environmental behavior among employees. Prioritizing green structural capital, establishing standard environmentally friendly criteria for hiring and evaluating prospective employees and initiating green projects to promote a psychologically green environment are some of the key recommendations. Improving environmental performance, employee satisfaction and loyalty in the hotel industry requires constant communication, training and employee participation in sustainability decision-making.
Originality/value
The GHRM practices have been extensively discussed by academics and researchers. However, there is a notable absence of discussion on the key factors that play a role in transforming employees’ attitudes and behaviors.

Purpose
This study examines the impact of five dimensions of decent work on the faculty engagement in Pakistan’s higher education institutions. Furthermore, it examines the moderating influence of intrinsic religiosity on the associations above.
Design/methodology/approach
This research employed a cross-sectional approach to collect data from 542 faculty members working with higher education institutions through electronic and in-person questionnaire administration.
Findings
The findings indicate that safe interpersonal working conditions, opportunities for free time and rest, adequate compensation, and the availability of healthcare services significantly positively impact the level of work engagement among faculty members. Additionally, the research revealed that intrinsic religiosity reinforces the previously established significant associations.
Research limitations/implications
The research acknowledges specific constraints that could impact the applicability of its findings, including the utilization of a cross-sectional methodology, the dependence on self-reported information, and the possibility of sample biases. Subsequent investigations may rectify these constraints to provide a more all-encompassing comprehension of the subject matter.
Practical implications
The findings possess practical significance for the management of HEIs in cultivating an ideal working atmosphere for faculty members. Ensuring adequate compensation, secure working environments and healthcare accessibility is underscored to enhance faculty engagement. Furthermore, acknowledging the significance of intrinsic religiosity can improve faculty engagement.
Originality/value
This research contributes to the current body of literature by investigating the complex relationship among decent work, faculty engagement, and intrinsic religiosity in the specific context of higher education institutions in Pakistan.

Abstract
Purpose
This research aims to reveal the impact of Green Performance Appraisal (GPA) on Organizational Sustainability (OS) and to explore the effect of GPA on Employee Green Behavior (EGB). Moreover, it investigates the factors underlying the relationship between GPA, EGB and OS. Further, it intends to examine the role of Green Knowledge Usage (GKU) in the relationship between EGB and OS.
Design/methodology/approach
Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling technique, SPSS and the Smart PLS 4 Software were used to test the hypotheses and the data collected via a cross sectional online survey conducted among Lebanese firms registered in the local chamber of commerce.
Findings
The results show that GPA plays a significant role in enhancing EGB and in promoting OS. It proves also that EGB partially mediates the relationship between GPA and OS. Further, it reveals the moderating role of GKU in reinforcing the relationship between EGB and OS.
Research limitations/implications
Although the study has some limitations related to the limited sample targeted and the cross-sectional data used, the findings provide various managerial implications and help in enhancing OS. It also advances green human resources management practices theoretically and practically.
Originality/value
This research aims to fill the gaps observed in the literature and explores the impact of GPA on OS examining the mediating role of EGB and the moderating effect of GKU.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to propose a comprehensive optimization and scheduling method for the combined heat and power (CHP) systems that takes into account the uncertainties of wind power and demand response.
Design/methodology/approach
The uncertainty of wind power and the “thermal-electric coupling” characteristics of CHP units have led to an increasing issue of wind power curtailment in CHP systems. With the objective of minimizing the overall scheduling cost of the CHP system, this paper considers the characteristics of interactive loads and wind power uncertainty, and establishes a coordinated optimization scheduling model for the generation-load-storage of the system, based on the inclusion of thermal energy storage devices.
Findings
During the optimization scheduling process, the proposed method in this paper reduces the scheduling cost by ¥99,900 (approximately 36.3%) compared to traditional methods, and significantly decreases the wind power curtailment rate by 53.7%. These results clearly demonstrate the significant advantages of the proposed method in enhancing the economic efficiency of the system and improving wind power integration.
Research limitations/implications
However, the planning process did not take into account the impact of unit combinations and grid structures.
Practical implications
This study proposes a comprehensive optimization and scheduling method for the CHP systems that takes into account the uncertainties of wind power and demand response. The objective function is to minimize the wind curtailment rate’s total scheduling cost, considering the impact of wind power uncertainties and demand response. A coordinated optimization and scheduling model for the generation-load-storage of CHP system is established.
Social implications
CHP units achieve the coupling of electric and thermal energy, significantly improving energy efficiency. In this study, the planning of the CHP system considers the coupling relationships among multiple energy sources, various devices and the pricing optimization spaces of electric and thermal forms of generation, storage and load-side. This approach has achieved favorable results in terms of economic operation scheduling and wind power accommodation improvement.
Originality/value
The case method is used to handle the uncertainty of wind power output on the generation side. Demand response is integrated on the load side to adjust user load curves. On the storage side, the thermal-electric coupling constraints of the CHP units are decoupled using thermal energy storage devices, while considering the economic benefits of all three parties involved: the power source, the load and the energy storage.

Abstract
Purpose
Drawing on the contemporary literature and the theory of employer attractiveness, the authors aimed to examine key antecedents and consequences of employer attractiveness by proposing functional hypotheses and relationships between some endogenous variables.
Design/methodology/approach
Using the quota-cum-purposive sampling method, the unit of analysis selected for this study was millennials aged 18–35 years and working in the hospitality, travel, tourism and leisure (HTTL) sectors for the last two years. A total of 218 responses were collected in three months (June–August 2022). The data were analysed using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM).
Findings
For young employees, company recruitment behaviour, company image and source credibility are significantly and directly related to company attractiveness. The relationship between company image and employee word of mouth (WOM) was significantly positive. Company recruitment behaviour was found to significantly influence employee commitment. Company attractiveness was found to be directly related to young employees' WOM about the company and commitment to it.
Originality/value
The study establishes the significance of company attractiveness because a company's success largely depends on the company's ability to attract and retain a talented and skilled workforce. Moreover, the present study provides much-needed insights to policymakers and regulators that can help the policymakers define and implement favourable policies to promote and protect the country's job market and offer directions to youth employment.
