Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to conduct a systematic review of the existing literature on export promotion and foreign market entry strategies for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Design/methodology/approach

This study incorporates systematic literature review by using bibliometric technique and content analysis of 195 scholarly papers published between 2000 and 2024 obtained from Scopus database, using the PRISMA principles and a methodological framework.

Findings

The use of quantitative analysis has shown dynamic patterns in publication trends, characterized by notable increases in recent years. These trends align with the changing dynamics of the global economy and shifting priorities in international commerce. The study reveals thematic frameworks using author collaboration analysis, word cloud visualizations and a thematic map, providing insights into a significant motor, niche and developing issues that shape the discussion on the international growth of SMEs.

Research limitations/implications

It offers significant insights that can benefit academics, policymakers and practitioners who are interested in understanding and navigating the intricate terrain of export promotion and market access strategies specifically tailored for small firms.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, the study is the first of a kind that presents a systematic examination of the existing body of knowledge on the internationalization of SMEs.

Abstract

Purpose

The wine market has witnessed intensified competition across all aspects. However, there is a limited systematic assessment of wine marketing literature. This study employs bibliometric and thematic content evaluation methodologies to present a comprehensive summary and trend of the existing research in wine marketing.

Design/methodology/approach

This integrates bibliometric and thematic content analytical techniques to trace the evolutionary arc of wine marketing research, underpinned by a framework-based evaluation - the 4 Ws (what, where, why, and how) to give a thorough overview of wine marketing literature. We draw on the thematic structure of wine marketing research by conducting keyword co-occurrence, thematic, social network, and cluster-based content analyses. A total of 291 publications from peer-reviewed journals, spanning the years 2001–2023, were examined in the present study.

Findings

The bibliometric analysis is used to determine the most notable journals, authors, nations, articles, and themes, thereby offering a comprehensive understanding of the publication trends within the sphere of wine marketing. Based on the findings, this study advocates a research agenda to extend further contributions to the field of wine marketing.

Originality/value

The study performs a comprehensive analysis of the publication patterns, influential authors, and emerging trends within the wine marketing research field. It provides a unique insight into the evolution and development of wine marketing as a scholarly discipline, facilitating future research directions and knowledge advancement.

Abstract

Purpose

 High-performance workplace systems (HPWS) have evolved from being mere buzzwords to essential pillars for organisational success. This calls for in – depth examination by both academic scholars and industry professionals. The study aims to offer a comprehensive academic assessment of the significance of HPWS in enhancing human resource management.

Design/methodology/approach

In this study, the authors conducted a literature review (bibliometric and content analysis) of 152 peer-reviewed scholarly articles published from 2003 to 2024. This study used Vosviewer software and the bibliometrics package in R software to investigate publishing patterns, influential contributors, themes and topics underpinning HPWS.

Findings

The work offers a thorough and insightful examination of the ideas, components and effects of HPWS on businesses and workers. It presents three research fronts that collectively contribute to the understanding of HPWS.

Practical implications

This work emphasises the significance of incorporating high-performance workplace processes to cultivate a culture of excellence and enhance employee engagement. Organisations can use evidence-based strategies identified in the literature to boost performance, promote job satisfaction and retain high-performing employees.

Originality/value

The study applies HPWSs to inform organisational policy development by acknowledging firms’ inherent capabilities and competencies to integrate HPWS effectively. The results serve as compelling evidence for recognising the capacity of HPWS to impact various facets of an organisation.

Abstract

Purpose

The present study undertakes an extensive review of the causes of service failures in artificial intelligence (AI) technology literature.

Design/methodology/approach

A hybrid review has been employed which includes descriptive analysis, and bibliometric analysis with content analysis of the literature approach to synthesizing existing research on a certain topic. The study has followed the SPAR-4-SLR protocol as outlined by Paul et al. (2021). The search period encompasses the progression of service failure in AI from 2001 to 2023.

Findings

From identified theories, theoretical implications are derived, and thematic maps direct future research on topics such as data mining, smart factories, and among others. The key themes are being proposed incorporates technological elements, ethical deliberations, and cooperative endeavours.

Originality/value

This research study makes a valuable contribution to understanding and reducing service defects in AI by providing insights that can inform future investigations and practical implementations. Six key future research directions are derived from the thematic and cluster discussions presented in the content analysis.
