Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to perform a numerical analysis of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) retrofitting in reinforced concrete (RC) joints at high temperatures and predict models using artificial neural networks (ANN). The aim was to gain insights into their structural behavior across a range of loading conditions from room temperature to 800°C. Additionally, the research assessed the efficiency of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP), glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) and aramid fiber reinforced polymer (AFRP) strengthening in enhancing the structural performance of the critical sections.
Design/methodology/approach
The linear numerical simulations were conducted to evaluate the performance of RC beam-column joints using finite element modelling (FEM) analysis. The ANN model demonstrated exceptional effectiveness in predicting the stiffness of frames with openings, establishing itself as the premier machine learning algorithm for frame stiffness estimation. In the conventional model, 300°C was proven to be an effective temperature approach. Subsequently, maintaining a constant temperature of 300°C, an in-depth analysis of nearly 30 models of three retrofitting techniques was conducted under thermomechanical loading.
Findings
The CFRP retrofits yielded 15% less deflection and 30% more stress than the remaining FRPs, and the ANN models predicted the deflection, main stresses, bending moment and shear force. The ANN model results were compared with those of other frequently used models. The R thresholds (R = 0.954, 0.981, 0.986, 0.968, 0.978 and 0.936) for training, testing and validation indicated that the ANN model achieved data variability. The findings indicate that the ANN model is more accurate because of the strong connection between the numerical model and the prediction.

Abstract
Purpose
The primary objective of this article is to examine current procurement, inventory control and management practices in modern healthcare, with a particular focus on the procurement and management of surgical supplies in a prominent public, highly specialized healthcare sector.
Design/methodology/approach
This study was conducted in three phases. In Phase 1, the study team interacted with various hospital management stakeholders, including the surgical hospital store, examined the current procurement process and identified challenges. Phase 2 focused on selecting items for a detailed study and collected the qualitative and quantitative details of the store department of the healthcare sector chosen. A detailed study analyzed revenue, output/demand, inventory levels, etc. In Phase 3, a decision-making framework is proposed, and inventory control systems are redesigned and demonstrated for the selected items.
Findings
It was observed that the demand for many surgical items had increased significantly over the years due to an increase in disposable/disposable items, while inventories fluctuated widely. Maximum inventory levels varied between 50 and 75%. Storage and availability were important issues for the hospital. It is assumed the hospital adopts the proposed inventory control system. In this case, the benefits can be a saving of 62% of the maximum inventory, 20% of the average stock in the system and optimal use of storage space, improving the performance and productivity of the hospital.
Research limitations/implications
This study can help the healthcare sector administration to develop better systems for the procurement and delivery of common surgical items and efficient resource allocation. It can help provide adequate training to store staff. This study can help improve management/procurement policies, ordering and delivery systems, better service levels, and inventory control of items in the hospital business context. This study can serve as a pilot study to further investigate the overall hospital operations.
Practical implications
This study can help the healthcare sector administration develop better systems for procuring and delivering common surgical items and efficient resource allocation. It can help provide adequate training to store staff. This study can help improve management/procurement policies, ordering and delivery systems, better service levels and inventory control of items in the hospital business context. This study can serve as a pilot study to further investigate the overall hospital operations.
Originality/value
This study is an early attempt to develop a decision framework and inventory control system from the perspective of healthcare inventory management. The gaps identified in real hospital scenarios are investigated, and theoretically based-inventory management strategies are applied and proposed.

Abstract
Purpose
The main aim of this paper is to investigate key challenges that hinder sustainable and resilient green supply chain (GSC) building in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with respect to how they interact after the COVID era.
Design/methodology/approach
Using a questionnaire, policymakers and industry managers from SMEs identify the main obstacles that will affect their resilience. These issues are then discussed with 50 experienced professionals from the top management field and further divided into sustainability and gresilience challenges. The Grey-DEMATEL (Grey sets and Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) has been employed to assess the significance of challenges to SMEs' development of green resilience. Overall, the paper aims to build up a novel decision-making technology for the interconnectedness of green and resilience in the post-pandemic supply chain world.
Findings
The 12 sustainability and gresilience challenges highlighted by experts in the sector were analyzed. Insufficient government assistance and the handling of resources are the most significant challenges to developing a sustainable and gresilient value chain system, according to the study. The study highlights supply chain restructuring, waste reduction management, shortages of skilled manpower and insufficient knowledge of digitalization as key challenges for SMEs to prioritize.
Practical implications
The outcomes of this research are crucial for SMEs building resilient supply networks through the green concept. Policymakers may utilize the data to pinpoint shortcomings in the supply chain for tactical as well as strategic development and improvement.
Originality/value
When it comes to building green resilience and sustainability in an unpredictable business climate, the outcomes of this research will be significant for SMEs.

Abstract
Purpose
Green sukuk (Islamic bonds) is one of Islamic financial instrument as an alternative financing source for supporting green finance projects in several sectors such as renewable energy or climate change problems. The aim of study is to present an understanding of the issues, explore the lesson for government policy and identify the potential for future studies directions.
Design/methodology/approach
This study conducted a literature review on green sukuk or Islamic bonds based on eight journal databases. The authors have carried out a strict selection of journals that are only indexed by Scopus and are protected from predatory journals.
Findings
This study has selected 7 of 118 published articles on green topics. This study has found that 50% of green sukuk research is dominated by a theoretical qualitative approach. While research that uses a quantitative or empirical approach is still below 30%, followed by using mixed methods. This study finds that research discusses green sukuk on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or environmental issues, especially climate change, COVID-19 issues and green financial reporting. In addition, in the existing literature, this study found that green sukuk has main advantages instead of green bonds where green sukuk must comply with sharia principles, namely, being free from usury, interest and uncertainty.
Practical implications
This study analyzes two important implications, namely, first, the implications of government policies regarding the potential for issuing green sukuk in supporting all programs on the agenda for the 2030 SDGs, especially controlling and preventing the adverse impacts of global climate change; second, the implications for further research, further researchers can refer to the results of this review to make it easier to find new research things about the relationship of green sukuk with SGDs.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this paper is the first review paper that structurally reviews the previous literature on green sukuk (Islamic bonds) based on reputable publisher journals that have been indexed by Scopus.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the sustainability performance of modular construction from a life cycle perspective. So far, the sustainability performance of modular buildings has been explored from a life cycle viewpoint. There is no comprehensive study showing which material is the best choice for modular construction considering all three sustainable pillars. Therefore, a life cycle sustainability performance framework, including the three-pillar evaluation framework, was developed for different modular buildings. The materials are concrete, steel and timber constructed as a modular construction method.
Design/methodology/approach
Transitioning the built environment to a circular economy is vital to achieving sustainability goals. Modular construction is perceived as the future of the construction industry, and in combination with objective sustainability, it is still in the evaluation phase. A life cycle sustainability assessment, which includes life cycle assessment, life cycle cost and social life cycle assessment, has been selected to evaluate alternative materials for constructing a case study building using modular strategies. Subsequently, the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method was used to compute the outranking scores for each modular component.
Findings
The calculated embodied impacts and global warming potential (GWP) showed that material production is the most critical phase (65%–88% of embodied energy and 64%–86% of GWP). The result of embodied energy and GWP shows timber as an ideal choice. Timber modular has a 21% and 11% lower GWP than concrete and steel, respectively. The timber structure also has 19% and 13% lower embodied energy than concrete and steel. However, the result of the economic analysis revealed that concrete is the most economical choice. The cost calculations indicate that concrete exhibits a lower total cost by 4% compared to timber and 11% higher than steel structures. However, the social assessment suggests that steel emerges as the optimal material when contrasted with timber and concrete. Consequently, determining the best single material for constructing modular buildings becomes challenging. To address this, the MCDM technique is used to identify the optimal choice. Through MCDM analysis, steel demonstrates the best overall performance.
Originality/value
This research is valuable for construction professionals as it gives a deliberate framework for modular buildings’ life cycle sustainability performance and assists with sustainable construction materials.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to provide an organizing lens for viewing the distinct contributions to knowledge production from those research communities addressing the impact of competitive strategy on company performance in general, and the influence of cost leadership and differentiation strategy on organizational performance in detail.
Design/methodology/approach
The research methodology was based on the PRISMA review, and thematic analysis based on an iterative process of open coding was analyzed and then the sample was analyzed by illustrating the research title, objectives, method, data analysis, sample size, variables and country.
Findings
The main factor that influenced the competitive strategy is strategic growth; strategic growth has a significant influence on competitive strategy. Furthermore, competitive strategy will boost firm network, performance measurement and organization behavior. In the same way, the internal goal factor will enhance organizational effectiveness. Also, a differentiation strategy will support management practice factors, strategic positions, product price, product characteristics and company performance.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the literature by identifying a framework of competitive strategy factors, company performance factors, cost leadership strategy factors, differentiation strategy factors and competitive strategy with global market factors. This study provides a complete picture and description of the resulting body knowledge in competitive strategy and organizational performance.

Purpose
This study aims to explore the distinctive dynamics of knowledge sharing, empowering leadership, psychological empowerment, innovative work behavior, and the moderating impact of kinship employee engagement in the creative industries of SMEs in Tana Toraja, Indonesia.
Design/methodology/approach
Using structural equation modeling, this research analyzes quantitative data collected from 512 employees in creative industry SMEs.
Findings
Knowledge sharing is not found to be associated with psychological empowerment but is positively related to innovative work behavior. Empowering leadership is positively associated with both psychological empowerment and innovative work behavior. Psychological empowerment mediates the relationships between knowledge sharing and innovative work behavior, as well as between empowering leadership and innovative work behavior. Finally, kinship employee engagement moderates the relationship between psychological empowerment and innovative work behavior.
Research limitations/implications
The cross-sectional design restricts establishing causal relationships among variables, suggesting the need for longitudinal studies. Contextual factors specific to Tana Toraja, such as cultural nuances and economic conditions, may not have been fully explored, impacting the applicability of findings elsewhere. Future research could mitigate these limitations by using larger and more diverse samples, using mixed-methods approaches and conducting longitudinal studies to track changes over time.
Practical implications
The findings underscore the importance of nurturing empowering leadership and promoting a culture of knowledge sharing to cultivate innovative work behavior. Moreover, leveraging kinship relationships can optimize organizational effectiveness and employee engagement in culturally nuanced settings.
Social implications
Strengthening these organizational practices not only enhances SME performance in creative industries but also fosters community cohesion and contributes positively to societal well-being.
Originality/value
This research uniquely explores the interplay of knowledge sharing, empowering leadership, psychological empowerment and the role of kinship employee engagement in enhancing innovative work behavior within SMEs in culturally distinct contexts like Tana Toraja’s creative industries.

Abstract
Purpose
The study investigates the mediated moderation impact of Memorable Religious Experience (MRE) and Religiosity (REL) on the relationship between Memorable Tourism Experience (MTE) and Attitude towards Pilgrimage (ATT) finally driving Recommend Intention (RCI) of visitors to a religious site. It suggests visitors' incentive variable religiosity can influence their decision to recommend visiting a religious destination.
Design/methodology/approach
The research uses a quantitative cross-sectional approach wherein a self-administered survey was used for data collection from 223 pilgrims who visited a popular pilgrimage site. Partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed for analysis.
Findings
The results showed that MTE has a significant influence on ATT which further influences RCI (a dimension of behavioral intention-BI) of visitors towards a religious destination. Further, MRE mediates the relationship between MTE and ATT. Nevertheless, REL illustrated a significant moderation influence on the relationship between MRE and ATT, further verifying the mediated moderation impact of MRE and REL in the model.
Practical implications
Recommendation of existing customers is one of the most powerful indicators of customer loyalty and usually leads to revisit. The research provides destination managers/tourism planners of pilgrimage sites to formulate appropriate marketing strategies to develop RCI and sustainable branding.
Originality/value
This study adds to the empirical studies conducted on REL by constructing a composite picture of the memorable tourism experience within a pilgrimage tourism context. The uniqueness lies in the attempt to investigate the mediated moderation impact of MRE and REL using a symmetric (PLS-SEM) approach.

Purpose
This study aims to measure the research landscape of the solar energy literature published in India during the years 1989–2022, indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database. The study examines the performance analysis and social network analysis of the literature.
Design/methodology/approach
The literature on solar energy published in India and indexed in the WoS between 1989 and 2022 was retrieved using a string of 13 related and synonymous terms as per the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme and Sears list of Subject Headings. Excluding all other document types, a total of 16,623 journal articles were retrieved. Quantitative and visualization techniques were applied to analyze the data. VOSViewer was used to map the collaborative patterns among different entities.
Findings
India has published 16,623 journal articles over 33 years, spanning from 1989 to 2022, with an average annual growth rate of 19.64 and a compound annual growth rate of 16.06. The Department of Science and Technology emerges as the prominent funding agency, while Indian Institute of Delhi (IIT Delhi) is the most productive institute. More than 125 countries collaborate with India in the field, with the USA being the topmost collaborator. Prof. Bhim Singh from IIT Delhi is the most prolific author, while Solar Energy published from the United Kingdom by Elsevier is the most preferred journal.
Research limitations/implications
The study is limited to the WoS’s Core Collection database. Hence, the results cannot be generalized across other databases.
Practical implications
The results of the study will be of extreme importance to the Indian scientific community, policymakers and policy planners, as it may help them in the reorientation of future research directions and the judicious allocation of resources.
Originality/value
The study demonstrates the essentiality of the field by tracking the research progress in the field over time and the importance of collaboration. The study is a valuable tool for identifying trends and assessing the impact of the research.
