Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to investigate how source attractiveness (including platform credibility, product appeal and streamer attractiveness) and information quality impact viewers’ cognition and flow state. Additionally, it examines how these factors influence the development of consumer attitudes and behaviors toward livestreamed tourism shopping, as well as the moderating roles of perceived risk and personal characteristics.

Design/methodology/approach

A sequential mixed-methods research design was used. In addition to a literature review, 15 interviews were conducted to identify measurement items for the subsequent questionnaire survey. Sample 1 (n = 209) was used to refine these measurement items, whereas Sample 2 (n = 227) was used to evaluate the measurement model and test the proposed hypotheses.

Findings

Findings reveal that source attractiveness (streamer attractiveness, tourism product attractiveness and platform credibility) and information quality significantly influence customers’ behavior formation, with cognition and flow state acting as mediators. Findings further confirm the moderating effect of perceived risk in a livestreamed shopping environment.

Practical implications

The findings provide new insights into how consumers select livestreamed shopping platforms. As viewers assess the credibility and trustworthiness of each component to form their perception of the overall platform’s credibility, companies should market their products through credible platforms, studios and stores with extensive reach. It is also critical to collaborate with streamers who are sincere, trustworthy, knowledgeable and professional. Since perceived risk lowers consumer behavioral intentions, live streamers, platforms and merchants should offer convincing and credible arguments to alleviate viewers’ perceived risks.

Originality/value

This study advances the literature on livestreamed shopping by broadening the conceptualization of source attractiveness to include three dimensions: streamer attractiveness, product attractiveness and platform attractiveness. Furthermore, it differentiates itself from existing studies by integrating and adopting multidimensional measurements of cognition (perceived usefulness and ease of use) and flow state (control, enjoyment, curiosity and concentration).

Abstract

COVID-19 has dramatically changed consumer behaviour and has significantly changed all business processes. Business organisations must be able to deal with the pandemic and rapid pace-based changes to enable flexible remote purchases. In this survey, the purpose of the inventory management strategy is to be considered, and the next one is to identify the design change based on the three main factors: economic order quantity, just-in time, and supplier partnership. The model in this study was built on HCMs or hierarchical component models by placing the 3 main factors as a higher-order construct (HOC) with 11 lower-order constructs (LOCs) that compose each higher construct. The findings in this study show that Inventory Shortages, Just-in Time Delivery by Supplier (JITDS), and Suppliers’ Quality (SQ) are the most significant forming components for each construct. The findings can be used to reference the academic and practical reorganisation of inventory management strategies. By empirically investigating the relationship between inventory management strategy components and operational performance, this study contributes to the on-going scholarly discussion on the link between inventory management strategy components and operational performance.

Abstract

One of the fundamental objectives of adopting digital supply chain (DSC) is to uplift the performance of an organization. Although a wide variety of literature confirms the impact of DSC on performance, it is hard to explore as to which dimensions of the performance is affected by DSC and how much. This chapter undertakes discussion on the impact of DSC on the various organizational performance indicators. The chapter also denotes some major key performance indicators (KPIs) that organization can track to gauge the impact of DSC on performance. A brief discussion on the challenges related to the development, adoption, and continuation of KPIs is also appeared in the later part of the chapter. The chapter concludes by denoting that the utilization of digital technologies (DTs) such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and complex analytics in DSC has prospects for enhancing the operational efficiency, transparency, and agility of a supply chain (SC). Organizations that adopt these DTs have experienced better demand forecasting, reduced time order fulfillment time, and higher levels of consumer satisfaction. Nonetheless, the successful use of DSC requires development and implantation of KPIs regularly.

Abstract

Sustainable development is inseparable from rational and responsible use of resources and promotion of green entrepreneurship. The contemporary green development agenda encompasses climate, economic, technical, social, cultural, and political dimensions. International efforts to greening the global development are conducted by the major economies, including China as the world’s largest consumer of energy and the biggest emitter of greenhouse gases. China is aware of its environmental problems, as well as of its part of the overall responsibility for the accomplishment of the sustainable development goals. By means of the decarbonization efforts, the latter are integrated both into the national development agenda (the concept of ecological civilization) and China’s international initiatives (the greening narrative within the Belt and Road Initiative). Over the past decade, China has made a breakthrough on the way to promoting green entrepreneurship and greening of its development (better quality of air and water, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and organic farming). On the other hand, emissions remain high, agricultural land loses productivity, and freshwater resources degrade due to climate change. In conventional industries (oil, coal mining, and electric and thermal energy), decarbonization faces an array of impediments. In this chapter, the authors summarize fundamental provisions of China’s approach to building an ecological civilization and measures to reduce emissions and achieve the carbon neutrality status within the nearest decades. The analysis of obstacles to the decarbonization of the economy and possible prospects for the development of green entrepreneurship summarizes China’s practices for possible use in other countries.

Abstract

Purpose

The global imperative for sustainable infrastructure management has intensified the focus on facility retrofitting as a key strategy for reducing environmental impact and enhancing operational efficiency. However, the complex interplay of factors influencing stakeholders’ willingness to pay (WTP) for such interventions remains inadequately understood, impeding effective policy formulation and resource allocation. This study aims to examine the motivational factors influencing the adoption of green retrofits in Lagos, Nigeria.

Design/methodology/approach

This study used a stated preference discrete choice experiment conducted with 425 decision-makers of corporate facilities in Lagos, Nigeria. A multinomial logit model was used to compare retrofitting choice sets and a status quo option.

Findings

The study revealed that education level, reputation concerns, income, incentives and corporate social responsibility awareness significantly predicted WTP for basic heating ventilation air-conditioning, and lighting upgrades. Regulatory compliance, awareness, education, income and reputation emerged as key drivers for more comprehensive retrofits incorporating renewables.

Practical implications

The research findings, by revealing which motivators resonate strongest, offer an evidence-based roadmap that directs practitioners to look beyond price incentives and emphasize complementary non-price interventions integrated with policy. The study’s emphasis on the significance of noneconomic WTP drivers equips program administrators with actionable strategies to optimize the uptake of retrofits based on individuals’ motivational structures.

Originality/value

This is one of the very few studies that have investigated the motivational factors influencing the adoption of green facility retrofitting in emerging markets, focusing on Lagos, Nigeria.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of logistics capabilities on the relationship between information sharing (INS) and logistics performance of Sudanese industrial companies.

Design/methodology/approach

This descriptive study investigates the relationship between INS and logistics performance in Sudanese industrial companies. A five-point scale questionnaire surveyed a non-probability sample of 262 logistics, supply chain and operations managers. Structural equation modeling has been used to test the relationship between the variables.

Findings

The results revealed that there is no direct positive relationship between logistics INS and logistics performance, while there is an indirect relationship through logistics capabilities. The findings confirmed that there is a positive relationship between logistics INS and logistics capabilities.

Research limitations/implications

There are several limitations in this study. This study is limited to certain businesses and has a small sample size, which may impact the capacity to apply the findings to a broader context. The sample was based on the current manufacturing companies in Sudan, which are distinguished by certain characteristics in terms of number, business stability and other factors. Because of these factors, the findings may not accurately reflect the actual situation. Industrywise, this study focused on manufacturers, whereas logistics is based on a chain of partners and involved parties. Including them in any future investigation could lead to meaningful findings and discoveries. Furthermore, the data collection’s cross-sectional form may not comprehensively reflect the temporal dynamics of logistical activities. Future research may address these constraints by investigating the efficacy of diverse logistical capabilities in other businesses and circumstances. The construct of the variables is a single-dimension construct, which does not reflect all the practices associated with INS, logistics capabilities and logistics performance. Furthermore, there is an opportunity to explore further the impact of INS on important logistical performance metrics, such as order lead time, on-time delivery and inventory management. One potential area for future investigation is the study of logistics information-sharing technologies, specifically utilizing data analytics and machine learning. In such a context, deep insight and understanding of logistics capabilities and performance require more qualitative analysis; therefore, future research could fill this gap and provide deeper insight.

Practical implications

For practitioners in the small and medium-sized enterprise sector in Sudan, these findings suggest enhancing their operations, particularly by investing in information-sharing technologies that improve stakeholder coordination. Actively engage supply chain partners in the logistics information system to ensure timely and accurate information flows to all. However, it’s important to be aware of potential challenges, such as the high costs and complex design of these systems and potential resistance to change within businesses. Policymakers play a crucial role in this process, as they can use these findings to establish industry-wide standards or incentives that promote the use of advanced logistical capabilities; besides that, policymakers need to invest in building genuine information channels and systems that inform the industry and clear the ambiguity.

Originality/value

This study establishes a relationship between INS and logistics performance, which will be interpreted by logistics capabilities to enhance the logistics performance of Sudanese logistic businesses in an underdeveloped context characterized by a weak logistics industry and logistics capabilities. It suggests that companies should prioritize logistics INS and investment in INS technology to enhance their logistics capabilities.
