Abstract
Purpose
Scaling up smart city infrastructure projects will require a large financial investment. Using public–private partnerships is one of the most effective ways to address budget constraints. Numerous factors have varying degrees of influence on the performance of Public private partnerships (PPP) projects; certain PPP factors are more crucial to the success of a smart city infrastructure project than others, and their influence can be greatly increased when they are fulfilled collectively. This study aims to find out what factors are unique to smart city PPP initiatives, as well as how these factors work together, so that successful smart city infrastructure PPP projects can be scaled up.
Design/methodology/approach
The methodology included three sequential stages: identifying the critical success factors (CSF) of PPP for smart cities based on an extensive literature review, collecting data from a sample of 90 PPP practitioners using a Likert scale questionnaire and estimating interrelationships among the CSF and their emergent clusters using structural equation modelling.
Findings
The best fit model developed in this study demonstrated the significance of each factor and their interrelationships within their categories in enhancing the performance of PPPs in smart city infrastructure projects. Five categories of critical success factors for PPPs in smart city infrastructure projects have been established: partnership and collaboration; financial sustainability; contractual duties and outsourcing; smart integration; and contract governance.
Practical implications
The proposed model represented the causal interrelationships among relevant critical success factors derived from literature, which may help in directing the organization’s attention and resources to more critical areas, leading to the effective fulfilment of the smart city infrastructure project’s objectives. In addition to the theoretical and methodological contributions, this study produced a usable and readily adaptable list and clusters of critical success factors for research in the area of the implementation of PPP in smart city infrastructure projects.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study to identify PPP critical success factors and their themed clusters for smart city infrastructure projects.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to examine the performance efficiency of 56 real estate assets within the rental sector in the UAE to evaluate the relative operation efficiency in relation to revenue generation.
Design/methodology/approach
The data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach was used to measure the relative operational efficiency of the studied assets in relation to the revenue performance. This method could produce a more informed and balanced approach to performance measurement.
Findings
The outcomes show that scores of efficiencies ranging from 7% to 99% in some of the models. The results showed that on average buildings are 75% relatively less efficient in maintenance, in term of revenue generation, than the benchmark set. Likewise, on average, the inefficient buildings are 60% relatively less efficient in insurance. Result also shows that 95% of the building assets in the sample are by and large operating at decreasing returns to scale. This implies that managers need to considerably reduce the operational resources (input) to improve the levels of revenue.
Research limitations/implications
This study recommends that the FM operational variables that were found to inefficiently contribute to the revenue should be re-examined to test the validity of the findings. This is necessary before generalising or interpolating the results that are presented in this study.
Practical implications
The information obtained about operational performance can help FM managers to understand which improvements in the productivity of inefficient FM resources are required, providing insight into how to reduce operating costs and increase revenue.
Originality/value
This paper adds value in using new FM operational parameters to evaluate the efficiency of the performance of built assets.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the importance of contractual management (CM), process management (PM) and human management (HM) factors as critical success factors (CSFs) in Malaysian housing projects. Additionally, it delves into the moderating influence of knowledge sharing (KS) on the relationship between HM and project success.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used a survey-based instrument to collect data from a total of 133 G7 class contractors. The stratified sampling method was used for data collection. Subsequently, structural equation modeling with SmartPLS was used for model evaluation.
Findings
The findings of this study indicate that CM, PM and HM exhibit significant relationships with housing project success. Furthermore, the research reveals that KS acts as a moderator in the relationship between HM practices and the success of housing projects.
Research limitations/implications
Although this study identified a significant relationship in explaining CSFs for housing project success in Malaysia, it only considers internal CSFs such as CM, PM and HM. It is suggested that future research incorporate external factors such as political support, national policy, currency stability and industry structure to provide a more comprehensive understanding of housing project success.
Originality/value
The results provide supportive evidence that CM, PM and HM are important CSFs in the success of housing projects. This finding is consistent with relational contractual theory, systems theory and social interaction theory. Moreover, the research underscores the nuanced impact of KS, serving as a moderating factor in the association between HM and project success. Consequently, these outcomes substantiate the applicability of the socialization, externalization, combination and internalization framework within the construction sector, particularly within the sphere of housing sector.

Abstract
Purpose
The main purpose of this study is to determine the antecedent factors of smart government service apps intention and its impact on actual use by extending the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) in the Jordanian context.
Design/methodology/approach
To achieve the main purpose, a quantitative method was used to test collected data, and hypotheses testing through using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) and smart partial least squares software.
Findings
The findings indicate that social media advertising has a positive effect on both social influence and peer influence. Furthermore, it demonstrated a significant effect of social influence on performance expectancy. In addition, there is a direct correlation between the government capacity, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions and the intention to use e-government services. Lastly, the results mainly show that the actual use of e-government services is significantly and positively influenced by intention and self-isolation. Next, as expected, self-isolation moderated the relationship between intention to use and actual use of e-government services via the Sanad application, and hence the related hypothesis was supported.
Originality/value
This study provides practical recommendations for the policy-makers in the Jordanian e-government and Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE) in Jordan.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine whether artificial intelligence (AI) increases data and information quality in the accounting and disclosure context.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected from financial managers, who are working in listed Jordanian firms in the Amman Stock Exchange. SmartPLS software based on the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling approach was used to test hypotheses.
Findings
The empirical results reached the acceptance of all hypotheses, and this means that all hypothesized relationships were positive, as the impact of AI was positive on data and information quality in the accounting and disclosure context, and also the adoption of digital disclosure mediated the relationship between AI and the quality of financial data and information, and hence, all hypotheses were statistically supported in the context of Jordan.
Originality/value
This study broadened the literature by proposing a research model that defines some of the main factors for determining financial managers’ perceptions of issues with digital financial disclosure adoption and its impact on financial data and information quality. By illuminating the relevance of these issues in the presence of the mandate of digital disclosure, this study sheds some light on digital disclosure regulators in making future policies for digital disclosure adoption among the different sectors such as financial, service and industrial in the Jordanian context.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that may have an influence on the continuous intention to use mobile money as one of the Financial Technology (FinTech) products beyond the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown period.
Design/methodology/approach
This study has empirically tested the expanded post-acceptance model (Extend-PAM) and the expectation-confirmation model (ECM) to explain the mobile money adoption in Jordan. Data collected were analyzed through partial least squares–structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).
Findings
The results mainly showed that the quality of administrative services and trust significantly impact confirmation and perceived usefulness. In addition, perceived security and knowledge of mobile money as one of the FinTech services significantly influence users’ confirmation and perceived usefulness. Also, usefulness and satisfaction influence continuous intention. Significant relationships were noted among confirmation, perceived usefulness, satisfaction and continuous intention to use mobile money.
Originality/value
This paper integrates two key theories: the expanded post-acceptance model (Extend-PAM) and the expectation-confirmation model (ECM) in the post-adoption behavior of mobile money. Therefore, this study attempts to fill a literature gap by examining the antecedent factors that influence the continuous intention to use mobile money services in the post-consumption stage.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the continuous intention to use blockchain and FinTech innovations, focusing on the direct impact of user trust and perceived risks. It seeks to test how information technology (IT) quality directly affects user-perceived risk and trust and to identify how IT quality can influence FinTech continuance intentions. By examining these relationships, the study provides insights into how improvements in IT quality can mitigate perceived risks and enhance user trust, ultimately fostering sustained use of FinTech and blockchain technologies.
Design/methodology/approach
To achieve the purpose of this study, the model and hypotheses were examined based on the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).
Findings
Results revealed that perceived risk is negatively impacted by system quality, while trust is positively impacted by information quality, and the most significant result in the study is continuous-use intention and uncertainty both are impacted by service quality. Also, the study used some control variables, and two of them (i.e. FinTech type and education) showed a positive significant relationship with continuance-use intention.
Practical implications
This study identifies several causal relationships between the continuance-use intention of blockchain and FinTech innovations and various factors, which can provide valuable insights for managers, enabling them to formulate appropriate strategies to foster sustainable growth in FinTech and blockchain. By leveraging these findings, managers can enhance IT quality, reduce perceived risks and build user trust, thereby promoting the ongoing adoption and success of blockchain and FinTech innovations.
Originality/value
The outcomes obtained will help both FinTech providers and researchers elucidate and understand the situation of users’ concerns about the unexpected risks/uncertainty in FinTech transactions can be mitigated through providing a high level of quality IT service and systems. Two main strategies can be merged to be used by FinTech providers/managers, first: trust building, second: risk-mitigating, both strategies can be used in the light of IT innovation and its aspects to meet the sustainable growth of FinTech.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of gender equality in human resource management practices (HRMP) on job performance in educational hospitals in Jordan. This paper also examines the role of job satisfaction as a mediator between gender equality in HRMP and job performance.
Design/methodology/approach
A quantitative research approach with an online questionnaire was used to collect data from 231 participants at educational hospitals.
Findings
The findings showed that gender equality in HRMP was positively associated with job performance. In addition, the findings found a significant positive effect of gender equality in HRM on job satisfaction. Finally, the findings indicated that job satisfaction mediates the relationship between gender equality in HRMP and job performance.
Originality/value
This study provided theoretical and practical insights on the issue of discrimination against women, representing a model of developing countries, especially in the Middle East.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to examine the mediating role of e-trust and e-satisfaction in the relationship between e-service quality and e-loyalty in the context of e-government services.
Design/methodology/approach
The data were collected via an online questionnaire of Jordanian citizens. The structural equation model based on partial least squares was used to test hypotheses.
Findings
The findings showed that e-service quality has a positive and significant effect on e-loyalty. E-service quality has a positive and significant effect on both e-trust and e-satisfaction. E-trust and e-satisfaction have a positive and significant effect on e-loyalty. E-trust has a positive effect on e-satisfaction. Finally, regarding the mediating effect of e-trust and e-satisfaction, e-trust and e-satisfaction partially mediate the relationship between e-service quality and e-loyalty in the context of e-government services, and hence all hypotheses were accepted.
Originality/value
The results of this research aid governmental policymakers in implementing information and communication technology strategies that streamline citizens’ transactions and promote their active engagement in e-government initiatives. Additionally, the government has suggested improving awareness campaigns and providing training for employees to enhance the quality of e-services provided to citizens.

Abstract
Purpose
The main purpose of this study is to determine the antecedent factors of digital financial disclosure language adoption and its impact on decreasing financial information asymmetry and increasing its quality.
Design/methodology/approach
The data was obtained from 116 financial managers, who are working and responsible for preparing and filing financial statements reports in listed Jordanian firms in the Amman Stock Exchange. The partial least squares structural equation modeling approach is used for data analysis.
Findings
The empirical results revealed that the adoption of digital financial reporting is positively influenced by perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Besides, the outcomes also confirm that the adoption of digital financial reporting positively influences accounting information quality, and hence hypotheses H1, H2 and H3 were accepted.
Originality/value
This study varies from previous studies because it is considered among the first empirical studies that determine the antecedent factors of digital financial reporting adoption and its impact on improving accounting information quality and sustainability in an empirical setting from a developing country perspective such as Jordan.
