Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to provide a systematic review of literature on corporate engagement with start-ups (CEWS) by identifying the modes, contexts, antecedents, barriers and outcomes. As an emerging field, CEWS presently has no such review available which will help in building consensus within the field and shape future research directions.
Design/methodology/approach
The study followed a two-phased systematic review of literature. Three research databases (i.e. Web of Science, ScienceDirect and SCOPUS) were accessed to gather and conduct the review. Of the total 379 papers retrieved, 63 total relevant papers were studied and analysed. The exhaustive review of literature helped to uncover the contexts, perspectives, antecedents, outcomes and barriers reported across the different modes of CEWS.
Findings
The study highlighted the five prominent modes of CEWS favoured by large corporations and start-ups. It found that the large corporations and start-ups associate with one another on the basis of complementarities of activities, resources and motives to pursue their strategic orientations. The engagements also face barriers on the ground, such as incompatibility of goals, power imbalances, cultural differences and weak engagement plans. Most important contexts seen were the high-technology industries in the developed economies like the USA and Europe. It also found that ecosystem creation, accessing innovation and corporate strategy have been preferred as the most productive modes of CEWS in the literature.
Practical implications
This review provides practitioners with a detailed list of the modes and drivers of CEWS. Subsequently, the barriers that need to be managed to successfully execute a specific mode of engagement. This shall enable the practitioners in developing and adopting the best practices while engaging with the start-ups to better facilitate the outcomes of CEWS.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, there is no systematic literature review available in the domain of CEWS – thus, this study makes an important methodological contribution to the field. By consolidating the fragmented yet growing knowledge on CEWS, the study presents a detailed understanding of what drives and obstructs the engagement between large corporations and start-ups.

Purpose
India has been withstanding increasing pressure of enrolment in the higher education system, resulting in the creation of new universities in consonance with the recommendations of the Knowledge Commission (2007). Barring a few institutions of paramount excellence, the mushrooming universities fail to conform to equitability of quality and standards, that is teaching-learning-dissemination and research, except for accommodating higher gross enrolment ratio. It has resulted in an asymmetric and sporadic development of human resources, leaving a large basket of learners out of the pursuit for aspiring higher academic, research and professional enrichment. The country needs to develop an innovative common minimum curriculum and evaluation framework, keeping in view the trinity of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) across the Indian higher education system to deliver human resources with equitable knowledge, skill and intellectual acumen.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper has been developed using secondary information.
Findings
The manuscript has developed an innovative teaching-learning framework that would ensure every Indian HEI to follow a common minimum curriculum and partial common national evaluation system so that the learners across the country would enjoy the essence of equivalence.
Originality/value
This research has designed a comprehensive model to integrate the spirit of the “DEI” value proposition in developing curriculum and gearing common evaluation. This would enable the country to reinforce the spirit of social equity and the capacity to utilise resources with equitability and perpetuity.

With the technological advancements in the sphere of hospitality and tourism, the significant development has been pragmatic in the industry structures, processes and practices. The worth of innovation in the tourism industry is multifaceted which not only resulted in costs reduction, enhance operational efficiency and service quality upgrade but also enhanced customer experience. This chapter aims to review the articles, papers and books chapters published in various journals in the hospitality and tourism industry area through the lens of technological developments and disruptive innovations. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) protocol, VOSviewer and word cloud are the tools applied for papers selection, analysis and the visual representation of the most researched themes. The findings reveal that the many researches being conducted post 2016 in this sphere. The information and communications technology (ICT) devices usage, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Blockchain technology (BCT), and digital payments are considered as the crucial factors. The study emphasizes to put on better understanding of innovative disruptions in this sphere, layout plan for future research, and enable the decision-makers and authorities to make futuristic policies to stay competitive.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to explore the use of smartphone-embedded microelectro-mechanical sensors (MEMS) for accurately estimating rotating machinery speed, crucial for various condition monitoring tasks. Rotating machinery (RM) serves a crucial role in diverse applications, necessitating accurate speed estimation essential for condition monitoring (CM) tasks such as vibration analysis, efficiency evaluation and predictive assessment.
Design/methodology/approach
This research explores the utilization of MEMS embedded in smartphones to economically estimate RM speed. A series of experiments were conducted across three test setups, comparing smartphone-based speed estimation to traditional methods. Rigorous testing spanned various dimensions, including scenarios of limited data availability, diverse speed applications and different smartphone placements on RM surfaces.
Findings
The methodology demonstrated exceptional performance across low and high-speed contexts. Smartphones-MEMS accurately estimated speed regardless of their placement on surfaces like metal and fiber, presenting promising outcomes with a mere 6 RPM maximum error. Statistical analysis, using a two-sample t-test, compared smartphone-derived speed outcomes with those from a tachometer and high-quality (HQ) data acquisition system.
Research limitations/implications
The research limitations include the need for further investigation into smartphone sensor calibration and accuracy in extremely high-speed scenarios. Future research could focus on refining these aspects.
Social implications
The societal impact is substantial, offering cost-effective CM across various industries and encouraging further exploration of MEMS-based vibration monitoring.
Originality/value
This research showcases an innovative approach using smartphone-embedded MEMS for RM speed estimation. The study’s multidimensional testing highlights its originality in addressing scenarios with limited data and varied speed applications.

Purpose
The main impetus of the present analysis is to inspect the effect of psychological capital (PsyCap) on entrepreneurial intentions (EI) amongst college students and to test the mediation role of individual expectancy between PsyCap and EI.
Design/methodology/approach
The cross-sectional data of the university students enrolled in business management and engineering courses served as the foundation for the quantitative study design. To test the formulated hypothesis, PLS-SEM is utilized for analyzing the structural relationships between dependent and independent variables.
Findings
The results indicate that PsyCap significantly impacts the EI of collegiate students pursuing engineering and management courses. However, individual expectancy plays a partial mediating role between the PsyCap and EI of college students.
Research limitations/implications
This research provides an assessment of the effect of PsyCap on the EI of college students with the partial mediating effect of individual expectancy. The findings deliver the enhancement of the EI literature.
Practical implications
The study outcomes are helpful to educators, university administrators, curriculum developers and entrepreneurial policy planners to realize the role of individual expectancies of students’ entrepreneurs on their EI.
Social implications
The student entrepreneur community recognizes that individual students with stronger levels of entrepreneurial PsyCap having further probability tend to become future entrepreneurs.
Originality/value
The present analysis is original and holds novelty in the form of the mediating role of individual expectancies between PsyCap and EI of students.

Purpose
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly applied by businesses to optimize their processes and decision-making, develop effective and efficient strategies, and positively influence customer behaviors. Businesses use AI to generate behaviors such as customer retention (CR). The existing literature on “AI and CR” is vastly scattered. The paper aims to review the present research on AI in CR systematically and suggest future research directions to further develop the field.
Design/methodology/approach
The Scopus database is used to collect the data for systematic review and bibliometric analysis using the VOSviewer tool. The paper performs the following analysis: (1) year-wise publications and citations, (2) co-authorship analysis of authors, countries, and affiliations, (3) citation analysis of articles and journals, (4) co-occurrence visualization of binding terms, and (5) bibliographic coupling of articles.
Findings
Five research themes are identified, namely, (1) AI and customer churn prediction in CR, (2) AI and customer service experience in CR, (3) AI and customer sentiment analysis in CR, (4) AI and customer (big data) analytics in CR, and (5) AI privacy and ethical concerns in CR. Based on the research themes, fifteen future research objectives and a future research framework are suggested.
Research limitations/implications
The paper has important implications for researchers and managers as it reveals vital insights into the latest trends and paths in AI-CR research and practices. It focuses on privacy and ethical issues of AI; hence, it will help the government develop policies for sustainable AI adoption for CR.
Originality/value
To the author's best knowledge, this paper is the first attempt to comprehensively review the existing research on “AI and CR” using bibliometric analysis.

Abstract
The mimicking technology comprises the use of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning in order to play a crucial role in electronic customer relationship management (e-CRM). E-CRM involves managing a business relationship with both present and potential customers. The purpose of this chapter is to assess the role of human mimicking technology in electronic customer relationship management specifically for the service sector. This study performs a qualitative study–based exploratory research utilising in-depth interviews with 10 experts. It has been carried out through structured interviews with academic and professional experts through MoSCoW prioritisation method through adopted a mimicking technology based customer feeling exposure based scale. Findings will be based on expert opinion by using the adopted scale. The outcome analysis of MoSCoW method reported that mimicking technology–based customer feeling exposure factors like ‘Customer understanding’ and ‘Relationaliztion’ are found to be prioritised under the ‘must have’ category, while factors like ‘Positioning’ and ‘Price/Cost’ are found to be placed under the ‘should have’ category. Subsequently, factors like ‘Promotion/Communication’ come under ‘could have’ category, whereas the factor i.e. ‘Place/Convenience’ falls under ‘won't have’ category. This study provides valuable insights into different service sectors in direction to use of mimicking technologies for managing the relationships with existing and prospective customers. Based on authors' knowledge, this study firstly bridges the gap between human mimicking technologies in e-CRM. This study attempts to simplify the prioritisation of mimicking technologies factors.

Using bibliometric, this work aims to evaluate the current status of the body of research on the subject of supply chain resilience (SCR) in developing nations and to provide recommendations for potential lines of inquiry for additional research.
Design/methodology/approach
Three hundred and thirty-six articles published between 2011 and 2021 were retrieved in Scopus for this bibliometric analysis. This analysis focuses on SCR research conducted in developing countries, highlighting its key authors, countries, institutions, journals, articles and themes.
Findings
This bibliometric review seeks to enrich the discourse on SCR in developing nations through a comprehensive and detailed review of 336 articles covering 138 Journals, 73 countries, 877 authors, 743 organizations and 1,145 author keywords. The United Kingdom, India, and the United States provided a substantial share of the publications. Publication-wise, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The University of Hong Kong play key roles. The author found that supply chain risk management, sustainability, agile management, artificial intelligence and blockchain are trending topics. Additionally, the author identified eight themes by page rank analysis.
Practical implications
This study's importance lies primarily in its examination of the current information about SCR in developing countries and significant cluster areas (themes). In the paths, it recommends for further study, which academics may take, and industry professionals should apply in their businesses to create a more resilient and sustainable supply chain.
Originality/value
Based on published studies, this study gives exploratory data on SCR in developing countries context. This is first of its kind bibliometric study that focuses on developing countries.

The transition to Industry 5.0 (I5.0) marks a pivotal moment in the industrial revolution, which aims to reconcile productivity with environmental responsibility. As concerns about the decline of environmental quality increase and the demand for sustainable industrial methods intensifies, experts recognize the shift toward the I5.0 transition as a crucial turning point.
Design/methodology/approach
This review study explores the convergence of green technological advancements with the evolving landscape of I5.0, thereby presenting a roadmap toward carbon neutrality. Through an extensive analysis of literature spanning from 2012 to 2024, sourced from the Scopus database, the research study unravels the transformative potential of green technological innovations, artificial intelligence, green supply chain management and the metaverse.
Findings
The findings underscore the urgent imperative of integrating green technologies into the fabric of I5.0, highlighting the opportunities and challenges inherent in this endeavor. Furthermore, the study provides insights tailored for policymakers, regulators, researchers and environmental stakeholders, fostering informed decision-making toward a carbon-neutral future.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of psychological ownership (PO) on residents’ destination advocacy (DA) behaviour in the context of emerging tourist destinations and to assess the role of attitude as a mediator in the relationship.
Design/methodology/approach
A quantitative methodology was used and primary data was collected via an online survey to a sample of 333 residents from emerging tourist destinations in India. This study used the partial least squares (PLS) method to test the hypotheses.
Findings
The results indicate that residents’ knowledge about their hometown positively influences PO which in turn affects DA behaviour. Furthermore, PO influences attitude which in turn significantly influences DA behaviour. Additionally, the findings reveal the mediating role of attitude between PO and residents’ advocacy behavioural outcomes.
Research limitations/implications
This study advances the concept that residents are important stakeholders who can promote a destination. Local authorities should prioritise residents over tourists and incorporate their image, identity, personality, style and values into destination promotion. They can also improve destination services to boost residents' positive attitudes.
Originality/value
The uniqueness of the study lies in associating PO and outcome as DA behaviour. The model suggests that enhancing PO of their hometown among the residents can have significant advantages for tourism development.
