Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to resolve the uncertain problem in suppliers selection chain management system through using the proposed multiple attribute decision‐making (MADM) approach.

Design/methodology/approach

The approach which combines grey system theory with rough set theory is proposed.

Findings

This proposed approach take advantage of mathematical analysis power of grey system theory and at the same time take advantage of data mining and knowledge discovery power of rough set theory. It will be suitable to decision making under a more uncertain environment.

Originality/value

Provides a viewpoint on the attribute values and attribute weights of rough set decision table for all alternatives are decided by grey number based on grey system theory. The best ideal supplier can be decided by grey relational analysis based on grey number.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to increase the manufacturing accuracy and quality of product by improving the prediction accuracy of forecasting compensatory control (FCC).

Design/methodology/approach

The dynamic analysis model, which combines grey dynamic model with time series autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model is proposed. In addition, the Markov chain from stochastic process theory is applied to improve the prediction accuracy.

Findings

The proposed model is more accurate than ARIMA model and grey dynamic model.

Originality/value

The paper provides a viewpoint on FCC by using the combined methodology, which takes advantage of high predictable power of grey dynamic model and at the same time takes advantage of the prediction powers of ARIMA model and Markov chain.

Abstract

Purpose

The year 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the grey system theory (GST), which has been widely applied in the engineering field. This paper aims to systematically identify the achievements, hotspots, knowledge structure and emerging trends in this field.

Design/methodology/approach

A bibliometrics analysis was conducted on relevant publications retrieved from Web of Science (WoS) using CiteSpace and MapEquation. A statistical analysis of the collected 3,384 papers was completed. Three networks, including a co-occurrence network, cooperation network and co-citation network, were obtained to draw knowledge structure, hotspots and research frontiers.

Findings

The top four applied engineering fields are engineering electrical electronics, computer science artificial intelligence, engineering multi-disciplinary and automation control system. In total, 65 countries have engaged in this field, and China has occupied a leading position, with the largest number of articles published and the widest cooperation with other countries. The USA, United Kingdom (UK) and China Taiwan also contribute a lot. The Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Professor Liu Sifeng have a core position in the cooperation network. More hotspots appear in the last ten years. Regarding the emerging trends, the combination of theoretical models and practical engineering problems has attracted more attention. Besides, the application of GST in environment protection and the integration of the GST and intelligent algorithm became more popular.

Originality/value

The comprehensive bibliometrics analysis and visualization demonstration were conducted, presenting the interdisciplinary characteristics, major research topics and research frontiers in this field.

Abstract

Purpose

Blog is a web-based social activity that has become mainstream media. The purpose of this paper is to develope a measurement instrument for assessing blog service innovation, which social media services providers and bloggers can use to promote blog functions and to ensure high quality blog services.

Design/methodology/approach

The study adopted both qualitative and quantitative research methods and performed four steps of scale development, including item generation and item pooling, pretest and initial purification, scale refinement, and scale validation and critical item analysis.

Findings

From a user-oriented service perspective, the major findings of the study were the 18 measurement items for blog service innovation scale (BLOG-S-INNO scale), which was derived from the innovative blog cognition of blog users. One critical factor in the BLOG-S-INNO scale was further identified to effectively predict outcomes of blog service innovation in social media services.

Research limitations/implications

Management at social media services providers can apply the BLOG-S-INNO scale as a diagnostic tool to assess organizational innovation capabilities in relation to blog services, and to link their innovation strategies with the innovation experiences of bloggers improving bloggers’ affection. The findings of this study also make it possible to offer recommendations to help bloggers improve service innovation to increase the experience and preference of blog browsers.

Originality/value

The study used qualitative research methods to construct a pool of items for measuring blog service innovation. Furthermore, the paper conducted quantitative research methods to develop a new blog service innovation scale and analyzed the key indicators of blog service innovation.
