This study aims to characterize the mechanical properties of sintered nano-silver under various sintering processes by nano-indentation tests.
Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to characterize the mechanical properties of sintered nano-silver under various sintering processes by nano-indentation tests.
Design/methodology/approach
Through microstructure observations and characterization, the influences of sintering process on the microstructure evolutions of sintered nano-silver were presented. And, the indentation load, indentation displacement curves of sintered silver under various sintering processes were measured by using nano-indentation test. Based on the nano-indentation test, a reverse analysis of the finite element calculation was used to determine the yielding stress and hardening exponent.
Findings
The porosity decreases with the increase of the sintering temperature, while the average particle size of sintered nano-silver increases with the increase of sintering temperature and sintering time. In addition, the porosity reduced from 34.88%, 30.52%, to 25.04% if the ramp rate was decreased from 25°C/min, 15°C/min, to 5°C/min, respectively. The particle size appears more frequently within 1 µm and 2 µm under the lower ramp rate. With reverse analysis, the strain hardening exponent gradually heightened with the increase of temperature, while the yielding stress value decreased significantly with the increase of temperature. When the sintering time increased, the strain hardening exponent increased slightly.
Practical implications
The mechanical properties of sintered nano-silver under different sintering processes are clearly understood.
Originality/value
This paper could provide a novel perspective on understanding the sintering process effects on the mechanical properties of sintered nano-silver.

This study aims to fabricate a novel electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composite aerogel with both thermal insulation and high temperature warning functions.
Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to fabricate a novel electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composite aerogel with both thermal insulation and high temperature warning functions.
Design/methodology/approach
An emerging bio-based polypyrrole (PPy) gel/Fe3O4/calcium alginate (PFC) EMI shielding composite aerogel was prepared by freeze-drying and in situ polymerization method. First, Fe3O4/calcium alginate (CA) aerogel was obtained by freeze-drying the Fe3O4/CA mixture. Then, PPy/Fe3O4/CA was obtained by synthesizing PPy on the surface of CA/Fe3O4 aerogel through in situ polymerization. Finally, PPy/Fe3O4/CA was immersed in porphyrin solution (cross-linking agent) to get the final PFC EMI shielding composite aerogel.
Findings
Due to the matched impedance between Fe3O4 and PPy, the EMI shielding performance of PFC composite aerogel can reach up to −8 dB. In addition, the PFC EMI shielding composite aerogel also shows excellent self-extinguishing and thermal insulation properties. After leaving the flame, the burning PFC aerogel is quickly extinguished. When the PFC aerogel is placed on the heating plate at 230 °C, the temperature on the side of the aerogel away from the heating plate is only 90.3 °C after 5 min of heating. The electrical resistance of the PFC composite aerogel can be reduced from 3.62 × 104 O to 5 × 102 O to trigger the warning light after 3 s of exposure to the alcohol lamp flame. This reversible thermal resistance response characteristic can be used to give an early warning signal when the PFC encounters high temperature or flame.
Originality/value
This work provides a novel strategy for designing a multifunctional EMI shielding composite aerogel with repeatable high temperature warning performance. This PFC composite aerogel shows potential applications in the prevention of material combustion in high temperature electromagnetic environments.

Abstract
Purpose
The concept of cost stickiness has emerged as a crucial factor affecting organizational resilience. While prior literature has mainly focused on the short-term performance implications of cost stickiness, this study aims to investigate its influence on organizational resilience over the long term.
Design/methodology/approach
Using data from Chinese A-share listed companies spanning from 2010 to 2019, we examine how cost stickiness impacts organizational resilience and explore the underlying mechanisms. This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of cost stickiness and organizational resilience and offers practical insights for businesses aiming to strengthen their resilience amid economic uncertainties.
Findings
Our findings suggest that cost stickiness not only promotes sustained performance growth and stabilizes financial outcomes but also enhances organizational resilience. Moreover, we find that macroeconomic policy uncertainty and micro-level corporate governance positively moderate the relationship between cost stickiness and organizational resilience. Additionally, our analysis reveals that organizational slack plays a partial mediating role in this relationship.
Research limitations/implications
It is essential to clarify the concepts of cost and cost stickiness. Enterprises should scientifically implement the policy concept of “cutting overcapacity and reducing costs” while maintaining a reasonable cost stickiness.
Practical implications
Shareholders and institutional investors of enterprises should pay close attention to the behavior of managers to reduce the possibility of “inferior” stickiness due to agency problems. Both external institutional investors and inner shareholders play essential roles in supervising managers.
Social implications
Enterprises should focus on cultivating organizational resilience. Resilience is vital for an enterprise to adapt quickly to external changes, overcome adversity, and make progress. Enterprises should reduce the excessive emphasis on short-term performance, focus on long-term development, cultivate strategic thinking, and establish a corporate culture.
Originality/value
The results show that cost stickiness can enhance organizational resilience. Economic policy uncertainty, the shareholding ratio of institutional investors, and the shareholding ratio of the largest shareholder can inhibit the opportunistic behavior of management, thereby positively regulating the relationship between cost stickiness and organizational resilience.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to study the effect of different Ni content on the microstructure and properties of Sn-0.7Cu alloy. Then, the spreading area, wetting angle, interface layer thickness and microstructure of the soldering interface was observed and analyzed at different soldering temperatures and times.
Design/methodology/approach
Sn-0.7Cu-xNi solder alloy was prepared by a high-frequency induction melting furnace. Then Sn-0.7Cu-xNi alloy was soldered on a Cu substrate at different soldering temperatures and times.
Findings
It was found that Ni made the intermetallic compounds in the Sn-0.7Cu solder alloy gradually aggregate and coarsen, and the microstructure was refined. The phase compositions of the solder alloy are mainly composed of the ß-Sn phase and a few intermetallic compounds, Cu6Sn5 + (Cu, Ni)6Sn5. The maximum value of 12.1 HV is reached when the Ni content is 0.1 Wt.%. When the Ni content is 0.5 Wt.%, the wettability of the solder alloy increases by about 15%, the interface thickness increases by about 8.9% and the scallop-like structure is the most refined. When the soldering time is 10 min and the soldering temperature is 280 °C, the wettability of Sn-0.7Cu-0.2Ni is the best.
Originality/value
It is groundbreaking to combine the change in soldering interface with the soldering industry. The effects of different soldering temperatures and times on the Sn-0.7Cu-xNi alloy were studied. Under the same conditions, Sn-0.7Cu-0.2Ni exhibits better wettability and more stable solder joint stability.

Abstract
Purpose
Ensuring the safety of structures is important. However, when a structure possesses both an implicit performance function and an extremely small failure probability, traditional methods struggle to conduct a reliability analysis. Therefore, this paper proposes a reliability analysis method aimed at enhancing the efficiency of rare event analysis, using the widely recognized Relevant Vector Machine (RVM).
Design/methodology/approach
Drawing from the principles of importance sampling (IS), this paper employs Harris Hawks Optimization (HHO) to ascertain the optimal design point. This approach not only guarantees precision but also facilitates the RVM in approximating the limit state surface. When the U learning function, designed for Kriging, is applied to RVM, it results in sample clustering in the design of experiment (DoE). Therefore, this paper proposes a FU learning function, which is more suitable for RVM.
Findings
Three numerical examples and two engineering problem demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Originality/value
By employing the HHO algorithm, this paper innovatively applies RVM in IS reliability analysis, proposing a novel method termed RVM-HIS. The RVM-HIS demonstrates exceptional computational efficiency, making it eminently suitable for rare events reliability analysis with implicit performance function. Moreover, the computational efficiency of RVM-HIS has been significantly enhanced through the improvement of the U learning function.

Abstract
Purpose
The primary goal of domestic washing and drying processes is to deliver clean and dry clothes, but they often result in excessive wrinkling of fabrics. This study aims to evaluate the wrinkling of linen fabric using image processing techniques after these processes and to quantify various drying performance indicators.
Design/methodology/approach
An image processing software was developed to quantify the smoothness level of linen fabrics subjected to domestic washing and drying processes. Additionally, different washing parameters in a front-loading washer that affect fabric wrinkling were evaluated. Three drying cycles (easy-iron, normal and extra-dry) in a condensation dryer were also analyzed in terms of moisture and fabric wrinkling parameters.
Findings
The results demonstrated a close relationship between water extraction from the fabrics and wrinkle formation. The shortest drying cycle with milder temperatures produced wetter and less wrinkled fabrics at the end of the drying cycle. Conversely, the longer, higher-temperature programs completely removed the moisture from the linen fabrics but resulted in greater wrinkling.
Originality/value
The development of an image processing technique to quantify the wrinkling of linen fabric allowed for more objective evaluation of this parameter. Additionally, this study allowed for the correlation of various drying indicators with the wrinkling generated in the linen fabric.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this systematic literature review (SLR) is to examine the theoretical landscape of knowledge hiding (KH) research, identifies prevailing theories, the different ways KH is understood within these theories and the underlying assumptions that shape these views. Based on this, ideas for further research are derived to advance the theoretical basis of KH studies.
Design/methodology/approach
Using a theory-based SLR, the authors analysed 170 scientific papers from Scopus and Web of Science. This involved thematic analysis to categorise theories frequently applied in KH research and a detailed examination to link core assumptions to these theoretical perspectives.
Findings
The analysis revealed a reliance on 86 distinct theories, with a notable emphasis on social exchange theory and conservation of resources theory. KH is predominantly conceptualised as a negative, objective, reactive and relational behaviour rooted in social reciprocity and resource conservation. The review uncovers the multifaceted nature of KH, challenging the field to incorporate broader theoretical views that encompass positive aspects, subjective experiences, strategic intentions and non-relational determinants of KH.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study to systematically map and analyse the theoretical underpinnings of KH research. It offers a unique contribution by categorising the diverse theories applied in KH studies and explicitly linking these theories to their inherent assumptions about KH. This approach provides a comprehensive overview that not only identifies gaps in the current research landscape but also proposes alternative theoretical perspectives for exploring KH, thereby setting a new direction for future studies in this field.

Considering behavior-based pricing strategy, we explore the choice of instant logistics service model and pricing strategy of Quick-commerce channel.
Abstract
Purpose
Considering behavior-based pricing strategy, we explore the choice of instant logistics service model and pricing strategy of Quick-commerce channel.
Design/methodology/approach
We adopt the Hotelling framework to develop a two-period game in which two horizontally differentiated suppliers sell repetitively purchased products through a traditional e-commerce channel and an instant e-commerce channel in two periods.
Findings
The results show that: (1) when consumer’s mismatch cost and instant logistics cost coefficient are moderate or relatively high or low, platform-operated logistics (PL) is more beneficial to traditional supplier and traditional e-platform, while Q-commerce platform may prefer self-operated logistics. However, for Q-commerce suppliers, as his/her instant logistics cost coefficient increases, he/she tends to prefer PL. (2) If the instant logistics cost coefficient is moderate, traditional suppliers may always earn more than Q-commerce suppliers in both models, despite the higher commission rate of traditional e-platform. (3) When the instant logistics cost coefficient for Q-commerce suppliers is low, traditional suppliers should significantly reduce price for new customers under PL.
Originality/value
Our research constructs a competition between traditional and quick commerce channels, using game theory methods to examine the impact of different instant logistics models on the dynamic pricing strategies, profitability and instant logistics efficiency of these two online channels.

Abstract
Purpose
This study empirically investigates how source factors of the streamers affect swift guanxi between the streamers and consumers and their subsequent impacts on consumers’ purchase intentions in live stream e-commerce in China.
Design/methodology/approach
Drawing on source credibility theory (Weiss, 1974) and source attractiveness theory (McGuire, 1985), our study hypothesizes that the expertise, similarity, familiarity and likability of streamers are such source factors. For this empirical investigation, the study conducted online surveys with 428 adult Chinese consumers with previous purchasing experience on live-streaming platforms.
Findings
The study found positive effects with source expertise, familiarity and likeability on swift guanxi and purchase intentions; however, we found no such positive effect for source similarity. Overall, our findings suggest that source factors can have significant effects on swift guanxi and that swift guanxi constructed with source factors can have subsequent effects on purchase intentions.
Originality/value
This study conceptualizes and empirically tests the role of streamer credibility and attractiveness in live stream e-commerce.
