Abstract
Purpose
Job performance literature has evolved to address the aspects of performance thinking where knowledge sharing (KS) and emotions on the job are considered important. This study evaluates the influence of emotional intelligence (EI), mediated through KS, on job outcomes measured as job performance (JP) and job satisfaction (JS).
Design/methodology/approach
Structural equation modeling methods are used to investigate the degree of influence of EI on job outcomes through KS. The data for analysis has been collected from 227 project managers at Information Technology-Information Technology Enabled Services (IT-ITeS) firms.
Findings
The findings suggest that the EI has a positive and significant effect on KS. This implies that employees with high EI scores are more involved in the KS behavior. Furthermore, the findings suggest that KS partially mediates the relationship between EI and JP, and it fully mediates the relationship between EI and JS.
Research limitations/implications
For KS, the answer lies in the recruitment and retention of emotionally intelligent persons rather than investing only in information technology. The study enhances the literature on knowledge management, sharing and EI.
Practical implications
The proposed research model suggests a successful infusion of KS within IT-ITeS firms. Knowing the EI of employees and, accordingly, changing their behavior towards sharing knowledge is probably a distinctive, most efficacious and essential strategy for augmenting job outcomes.
Originality/value
The study establishes the role of KS in translating the impact of EI on JP and JS. Furthermore, it contributes a novel framework of KS behavior.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to focus on carrying out a quantitative analysis of publications related to augmented reality (AR)-based gaming. AR combines the real world with the digital world and is a large basis of data in an ICT-based digital society. Therefore, there is a need for a comprehensive bibliometric review of research papers on AR-based gaming to identify the potential for the advancement of knowledge in this field.
Design/methodology/approach
In the experimental part, reference data from Scopus was extracted according to a search string formulated with great care. The retrieved data were then analyzed through open-source, sophisticated bibliometric tools, VOSviewer, along with Biblioshiny-R.
Findings
After running the analysis, it turns out that the years with the biggest number of publications were in 2010 and 2012. The focus areas of study include mixed reality, surveys and helmet-mounted displays. The USA was the most connected country in the research collaboration network; it has strong links with other nations including the UK, Canada and Greece, which cluster around it in the map. This trend of monetarily increasing number of papers depicts the growing interest and sustainable productivity in this research domain.
Originality/value
The purpose of this paper is to present a novel perspective on AR-based gaming, which has not been so far examined by bibliometric analysis. The results provide important information for researchers and stakeholders. In addition to filling a void in the literature, this study is an important reference for those researchers who are interested in exploring evolution and trends in AR-based gaming research.

Abstract
Purpose
The study aims to add to the existing literature on food supply chains by specifically taking into the redesigning of the alignment of storage, packaging and distribution practices in the modern complex supply chain. The redesign of the food supply chain’s storage, distribution and packaging is a transformative endeavor ultimately aimed at enhancing efficiency, sustainability and reliability.
Design/methodology/approach
In order to identify, classify and prioritize the main challenges, this study conducted an extensive analysis of the literature and experts’ opinions in the areas of academia, information technology and the food supply chain (FSC) using combined compromise solution method (CoCoSo) and complex proportional assessment (COPRAS).
Findings
The top three classes of key indicators revealed in this study are dynamic route optimization and on-demand delivery pods (RD4), implementation of active packaging with nanotechnology (RP3) and collaborative last-mile (RD2). The findings reveal that dynamic route optimization and on-demand delivery pods (RD4) and collaborative last-mile (RD2) are maintaining a balance between collaborative delivery networks through route optimization which is a very discussable theme in recent literature.
Originality/value
The research provides fresh insights into how perishable food shelf life parameters and the use of distribution networks within the short supply chain can be taken into consideration when redesigning the storage, packaging and distribution system for food supply chains.

Abstract
Purpose
The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the role of information and communication technology (ICT) diffusion in women empowerment and in fostering the process of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries using panel data from 2005 to 2020.
Design/methodology/approach
An ICT diffusion index was constructed using principal component analysis (PCA). Further, the study uses econometric techniques robust to cross-sectional dependence (CSD) which include Pesaran's CSD tests, second-generation unit root test, Pedroni, Kao, Westerlund cointegration test, FMOLS, DCCE, Driscoll–Kraay (DK) regression, and D&H causality tests.
Findings
ICT diffusion and economic growth have a significant and favorable impact on women's empowerment. However, fertility rates and trade openness harm women's empowerment. In addition, the causality test results depict a bidirectional causal relationship between ICT and women empowerment and between growth and women empowerment. In addition, unidirectional causality is detected between education and women's empowerment. Overall, the findings indicate that expanding ICT and bridging the digital divide, particularly among women, can be effective in achieving empowerment-related SDGs.
Originality/value
To date, there are hardly any studies in SAARC context that empirically evaluate the link between ICT, women empowerment, and the issue of sustainability in a unified framework. Therefore, this study is unique in terms of conceptualization and methodological robustness in this context. The study will benefit policymakers and regulatory bodies to formulate appropriate policies to empower women and thereby attain the SDGs by 2030.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate a novel solar still system integrating external solar heating and condensation units, comparing its performance with traditional methods through experimental and numerical analyses to optimize clean water production and energy efficiency.
Design/methodology/approach
This study involved designing a novel solar still system with an external solar heating unit and a prism-type condensation chamber. Two configurations were tested experimentally: one with internal condensation inside the prism and another with an air pump extracting vapor for external condensation. computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations were conducted to analyze temperature distributions and airflow dynamics in the system. Energy and exergy analyses were performed to evaluate the thermal performance and efficiency of both configurations, comparing clean water production rates and system effectiveness.
Findings
This study found that the solar still system using an air pump with external condensation significantly enhanced water production, achieving approximately 144.7% more clean water compared to the internal condensation method. Scenario 2, with the external condensation configuration, demonstrated a slight improvement in thermal efficiency (12.84%) over Scenario 1 (12.36%) and higher exergy efficiency (5.86% compared to 4.83%). CFD simulations provided insights into the temperature and air velocity distributions, highlighting the effectiveness of the external heating and condensation setup. The results demonstrate the potential of the novel system to improve clean water production while maintaining energy efficiency.
Originality/value
This study introduces a novel solar still design that integrates an external solar heating unit and an air pump-driven external condensation system, demonstrating a significant improvement in clean water production. By combining experimental results, CFD simulations and energy-exergy analyses, it provides valuable insights for optimizing solar-powered desalination systems with enhanced efficiency and sustainability.

Purpose
The widespread uptake of digital technology tools for online teaching and learning reached its peak during the nationwide lockdown triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. It transformed the higher education institutions (HEIs) marketplace both in developed and developing countries. However, in this process of digital transformation, several HEIs, specifically from developing countries, faced major challenges. That threatened to affect their sustainability and performance. In this vein, this study conducts a bibliometric review to map the challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and suggest strategies for HEIs to cope with post-pandemic situations in the future.
Design/methodology/approach
This comprehensive review encompasses 343 papers published between 2020 and 2023, employing a systematic approach that combines bibliometrics and content analysis to thoroughly evaluate the articles.
Findings
The investigation revealed a lack of published work addressing the specific challenges faced by the faculty members affecting their well-being. The study underscores the importance of e-learning technology adoption for higher education sustainability by compelling both students and teachers to rely heavily on social media platforms to maintain social presence and facilitate remote learning. The reduced interpersonal interaction during the pandemic has had negative consequences for academic engagement and professional advancement for both educators and students.
Practical implications
This has implications for policymakers and the management of HEIs, as it may prove useful in reenvisioning and redesigning future curricula. The paper concludes by developing a sustainable learning framework using a blended approach. Additionally, we also provide directions for future research to scholars.
Originality/value
This study has implications for policymakers and HEI management to rethink the delivery of future courses with a focus on education and institute sustainability. Finally, the research also proposes a hybrid learning framework for sustainability and forms a robust foundation for scholars in future research.

Purpose
Voice assistants can present search results through “voice presentation” or “voice and visual”, depending on the device they are connected to. Alternatively, consumers can search for products manually using the online website. Despite the critical role of presentation formats in helping consumers understand and decide on products, this area remains vastly unexplored, particularly the combined use of voice and visual formats. Thus, to understand which presentation format suits different products, we delve into consumer search behaviour, distinguishing between low and high-involvement products.
Design/methodology/approach
A between-subjects factorial experimental design was used to examine the influence of 3 presentation formats (voice only, visual only and voice and visual) and 2 product involvement levels (low and high) on consumer trust, usefulness and behavioural intentions.
Findings
The results confirm a significant interaction between presentation format and product involvement, highlighting consumers' preference for voice presentation in low-involvement products, while a combination of “voice and visual” is preferred for high-involvement products.
Originality/value
The study shows that both presentation format and product involvement affect the trust and usefulness of voice assistants, which further influences consumers’ behavioural intentions. The key finding contributes to the growing body of knowledge of consumer and voice assistant interaction and offers guidance to managers on the use of voice assistants for their customers.

Abstract
Purpose
The issue of evaluating the dynamic characteristics of a bridge due to the presence of rapidly moving vehicles has considerable importance. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive study on the variables that influence the dynamic behavior of a thin-walled box-girder bridge exposed to high-speed train loads using regression analysis.
Design/methodology/approach
The high-speed train is mathematically represented by a system with 38 degrees of freedom (DOF), while the sub-track system uses China’s Railway Track System slab track. The numerical modeling of the bridge is accomplished using computationally efficient finite elements that represent thin-walled box-beams. The rail’s imperfections are also accounted for, and they are represented using a power spectral density function. The dynamic response of the bridge is calculated using the Newmark-beta technique, considering several DOFs and stress resultants.
Findings
A thorough parametric analysis of the factors affecting the dynamic response of the bridge is conducted and a regression model has been proposed. The regression equation yields an excellent fit for shear force, distortional moment and distortional bimoment, with an R2 value near 1. It has also been observed that the range of the coefficient R2 in case of bending moment, torsion, torsional bimoment and vertical deflection typically falls between 0.82 and 0.9. R2 value near to 1 indicates that it is quite accurate in forecasting the dynamic influence of high-speed trains on the bridge’s response.
Originality/value
The originality of this research lies in pioneering the regression modeling of dynamic responses in thin-walled box-girder bridges and uniquely modeling high-speed trains with 38 DOF, which has not been previously explored in existing studies.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to numerically model the rigid pavement resting on Pasternak soil and to examine its various response parameters and stress resultants like deflection, rotation, bending moment and shear force when subjected to aircraft loading.
Design/methodology/approach
The study is carried out using a one-dimensional (1D) beam element based on the finite element method (FEM). Each node in this element has three rotational and three translational degrees of freedom (DOF). MATLAB programming is used to perform the static analysis of rigid pavement.
Findings
Response parameters and stress resultants of the rigid pavement were determined. The FEM used in this work is validated by two closed-form numerical examples, which are in great accord with previous research findings with a maximum divergence of 4.64%, therefore verifying the finite element approach used in the current study. Additionally, various parametric studies have been carried out to study the variations in response parameters and stress resultants.
Research limitations/implications
The investigation at hand focuses exclusively on the static analysis of the pavement. The study constraints pertaining to the preliminary design phase of rigid pavements are such that a comprehensive three-dimensional finite element analysis is deemed unnecessary.
Originality/value
As limited previous research had performed the static analysis of rigid pavement on Pasternak foundation with 6 DOF. Furthermore, no prior study has done seven separate parametric investigations on the static analysis of rigid pavement.

Abstract
Purpose
Human resources analytics (HRA) applications are of theoretical and practical interest to both researchers and practitioners. While organizations have begun to implement HRA applications, there is currently no established approach for measuring their performance. This study aims to address this gap in the literature by proposing a new approach for measuring the performance of HRA applications.
Design/methodology/approach
This study proposes a hybrid approach that combines the cumulative belief degree (CBD) and partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to measure organizational HRA performance.
Findings
The performance measurement approach proposed in this study has the capacity to reveal the total HRA performance level of an organization, while also providing the opportunity to measure the performance of the subdimensions that make up HRA. These subdimensions include data sufficiency, technological capability, workforce capability, application level of HRA and organizational climate. This approach has the potential to assist organizations that do not currently utilize HRA in their operations to make an informed decision regarding the implementation of HRA and enables organizations to assess their potential performance if they were to implement HRA.
Practical implications
The proposed approach allows organizations to assess the performance of analytical applications in the human resources (HR) field. This assessment can be carried out at both the pre-implementation and post-implementation stages of HRA applications. Therefore, the approach provides a valuable contribution to organizations, enabling them to enhance their capabilities in this domain. Consequently, the study addresses a significant gap in practical research. Furthermore, in terms of the applicability of the developed HRA performance measurement model to diverse analytical domains, it paves the way for the advancement of other performance measurement studies.
Originality/value
The HRA performance assessment process encompasses multiple interrelated HRA subdimensions and performance indicators that can be measured using different scales. It is therefore essential to implement a flexible methodology that can convert diverse forms of evaluation into a unified scale and integrate them in order to effectively manage the inherent complexities and uncertainties associated with the assessment process. In this regard, the CBD approach proves particularly effective. In the CBD approach, a fuzzy set of linguistic terms is used to convert the performance indicator scores into a common scale and therefore takes into account the uncertainty inherent in the assessment process. In addition, it is also proposed to use the PLS-SEM method to combine CBDs.
