Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the psychological mechanisms underpinning the impact of branded memes on brand love on social media.
Design/methodology/approach
Using a self-reported online survey, data from 479 verified Facebook users were analyzed using structural equation modeling to examine the interrelationships among sense of liberation, perceived trendiness, hedonic engagement, perceived humor, self-brand connection and brand love.
Findings
The results indicate that a sense of liberation significantly influences self-brand connection but does not directly affect perceived humor. Perceived trendiness is a key predictor of both perceived humor and self-brand connection. However, hedonic engagement has no substantial effect on perceived humor or self-brand connections. Importantly, perceived humor plays a crucial role in strengthening self-brand connections and fostering brand love.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first empirical exploration to showcase the consumer brand love formation process facilitated by branded memes, offering valuable insights into meme-marketing strategies. This highlights the importance of perceived humor and trendiness in enhancing brand love through social media platforms.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to overcome the challenges associated with implementing electronic health record (EHR) systems in primary health-care facilities in Tanzania. It aims to assess the technological, organisational and environmental barriers to EHR system implementation and investigate the role of AI in optimising these systems for more effective health-care delivery.
Design/methodology/approach
The study adopts a qualitative approach, using case studies from five regions in Tanzania: Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Morogoro, Singida and Pwani. Data were collected through 26 semi-structured interviews with health-care providers, including medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists and IT personnel. The study applied the diffusion of innovation (DOI) theory and the technology-organisation-environment framework to assess the factors affecting EHR implementation and the potential integration of AI to enhance these systems.
Findings
Key challenges include unreliable network connectivity, frequent power outages, insufficient training and complex system usability issues. Despite these challenges, EHR systems have improved patient data accessibility and workflow efficiency. AI presents opportunities to address these challenges, mainly through predictive analytics, AI-driven encryption for data security and personalised training modules. AI integration can enhance system reliability, usability and security, ultimately improving health-care outcomes.
Originality/value
This study provides valuable insights into integrating AI to optimise EHR systems in resource-constrained environments like Tanzania. It addresses a gap in the literature by focusing on how AI can be adapted to low-resource settings and provides a framework for future EHR system implementations in similar contexts. The findings contribute to the global discourse on health-care informatics and the role of AI in improving health-care systems in developing countries.

Abstract
Purpose
This study uses a participatory action research (PAR) approach to evaluate the implementation and impact of the government of Tanzania health operation management information system (GoTHOMIS) on healthcare services in Tanzania. The primary objective is to assess the strengths, weaknesses and overall impact of GoTHOMIS.
Design/methodology/approach
The research uses a PAR methodology, involving active engagement with stakeholders from healthcare facilities, administrators and information technology experts. Data collection methods consist of key informant interviews and document analysis. The study strategically examines various aspects, including pre-implementation planning, challenges during implementation, system features and the strengths and weaknesses of GoTHOMIS. Furthermore, the focus extends to understanding the impact of GoTHOMIS on healthcare services.
Findings
The findings underscore critical areas for improvement, particularly in the pre-implementation planning stage. The study reveals issues related to a top-down approach and insufficient user participation, hindering the successful implementation of GoTHOMIS. Challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, power outages, missing diagnostic codes and compatibility issues with peripheral devices are identified. Despite these hurdles, GoTHOMIS exhibits strengths like improved accessibility, integration with the reporting system by the MTUHA government and automation of clinical tasks.
Originality/value
The study’s originality lies in applying a PAR approach to assess GoTHOMIS. This methodology provides valuable insights into the implementation challenges and suggests potential improvements. Purpose
This qualitative case study aims to identify and analyse the factors influencing the implementation and effectiveness of electronic health record systems (EHRS) in primary health-care (PHC) facilities in Tanzania. This study aims to explore ways to optimize the use of EHRS for better health-care service delivery.
Design/methodology/approach
The study uses a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through interviews and focus groups conducted with health-care workers and information and communication technology officers at the PHC facilities in Tanzania. Purposive sampling and data source triangulation were used to address potential biases and limitations associated with the study’s small sample size.
Findings
This study identifies several key findings related to the implementation and effectiveness of EHRS in Tanzanian PHC facilities. The primary obstacles include inadequate technical infrastructure, poor internet connectivity and insufficient financial resources. The study suggests a comprehensive strategy for improving EHRS, emphasizing patient and health-care professional involvement in system design, investments in technical infrastructure and connectivity, data quality and accuracy and ongoing technical support and training.
Originality/value
This research contributes to the existing body of knowledge by offering a nuanced understanding of the Tanzanian health-care context. It emphasizes the need for tailored solutions and strategies specific to the region’s challenges and opportunities. Abstract
Purpose
This study was conducted to assess the alignment of the strategic plans of the Cavendish banana grower cooperatives to business excellence models (BEMs) and to determine its financial impact to elucidate the performance of the respective cooperatives. This is anchored on the primary objectives of cooperative business sustainability, expansion and sustained competitiveness, all of which are significantly impacted by the strategic plans. The BEMS establish the parameters that are useful in determining how well the strategic plans correspond.
Design/methodology/approach
Qualitative and quantitative methods were used in this study. Strategic plans and audited financial statements (FS) for calendar year (CY) 2021 and 2022 of two Cavendish banana grower cooperatives in Region XI on the context of BEMs were evaluated and examined using the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and Philippine Quality Award. Of the seven criteria, only five were considered as follows: organizational profile, leadership, strategy, workforce, process and result. The first four were taken from strategic plans, while result was from audited FS.
Findings
The strategic plans of the two cooperatives selectively satisfy some of the sub-criteria of each of the four criteria. Furthermore, the cooperatives followed the usual basic contents of and briefly presented in the strategic plans the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis, strategic objectives, plans, targets and timelines. This suggests that the cooperatives are not familiar with the BEMs which could be attributed to the educational qualifications of the directors and officers, or possibly not introduced by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA). On the financial performance, one cooperative has impressive records but generally had lower performance in 2022 compared to 2021.
Research limitations/implications
This study covers only Cavendish banana grower cooperatives particularly located in the Southeastern part of Mindanao (CDA, 2021) in the Philippines where people are mostly of similar culture. This does not represent much diverse culture; thus, this may work only in organizations with similar culture. In other industries or organizations where cultural diversity occurs, there may be a need to conduct study to determine the level of adoption of BEMs by the cooperatives. On the other note, the samples are very limited that generalizability cannot be made. Conducting a similar study involving many cooperatives is suggested.
Originality/value
This study explores the alignment of the Strategic Plans of the Cavendish banana grower cooperatives to BEMs which has long been neglected.

Purpose
This study examines how the resource of egalitarianism, at both individual and organizational levels, affects employee proactivity. Specifically, we propose relational social capital is an effective mechanism through which an individual's egalitarian mindset and the organization's egalitarian HR practice facilitate employee proactivity.
Design/methodology/approach
This study surveys a sample of 511 knowledge workers employed in small to medium-sized enterprises in Australia and New Zealand.
Findings
Results of partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) demonstrate that relational social capital partially mediates the relationship between an egalitarian mindset and employee proactivity and fully mediates the effects of egalitarian HR practice on employee proactivity.
Practical implications
Globally, a social transformation, particularly around the notions of social responsibility and sustainability, is occurring, and this means increasing numbers of employees support egalitarian ideals. HR practitioners therefore need to be aware of how their human resource management (HRM) system supports this value orientation.
Originality/value
This study illuminates a new performance pathway by highlighting egalitarianism's contribution, as a valuable resource, to organizational and employee innovation. This focus on egalitarianism is both timely and important. This is because the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, through their support of diversity, inclusiveness and equality, reflect an egalitarian ethos, and managers are becoming increasingly cognizant of the need to embed these values into organizational structures and operational processes.

This study explores how information volume affects crowdfunding success and identifies the signals – operational transparency, past crowdfunding experience, perceived project authenticity and perceived product quality – that moderate this relationship. The goal is to provide insights into managing information overload and enhancing the probability of funding success in various information volume contexts.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected from 2,681 Kickstarter campaigns and analyzed using fixed effects logit regression models.
Findings
The study reveals a curved relationship between information volume and funding success, moderated by factors such as operational transparency, crowdfunding experience, project authenticity and product quality.
Practical implications
This study provides fund-seekers with essential insights into disseminating information effectively.

The study aims to synthesize findings from over two decades of research, highlighting key trends, progress, innovations, methodologies and challenges in bioclimatic design strategies and their interconnection with building environmental performance across the world.
Design/methodology/approach
This systematic review examines advancements in bioclimatic design strategies aimed at enhancing the environmental performance of buildings from 2000 to 2023 (n = 1,069). The methodology/approach involves a comprehensive analysis of literature from the SCOPUS database using bibliometric analysis, identifying trends, thematic evolution, keyword clusters and pivotal strategies such as passive solar design, natural ventilation, green roofs and thermal mass utilization.
Findings
The review highlights significant progress in several areas, including improved simulation/modeling tools for passive solar design, advanced computational fluid dynamics models for natural ventilation optimization, and the integration of green roofs with photovoltaic systems for increased building energy efficiency. Additionally, the use of phase change materials and high-performance glazing has reduced heating and cooling loads, while real-time optimization technologies have enhanced building performance and led to energy savings.
Research limitations/implications
The study recognizes limitations where the effectiveness of bioclimatic strategies varies across different climates. For example, passive solar design is highly effective in temperate climates but less so in tropical regions. Global differences in design preferences and building types and practices impact the applicability of bioclimatic strategies and traditional building methods in some cultures may not easily integrate with modern approaches, affecting their implementation and effectiveness. Furthermore, practical implications highlight the potential for reduced reliance on artificial heating, cooling and lighting systems, while social implications underscore the role of bioclimatic design in promoting sustainable construction practices.

Purpose
This study aims to answer the question of what characterizes organizations with future-potential, and with the help of a model introduced in this study, the authors propose what interventions can be identified and which improvements need to be made in traditional organizations so that they meet the requirements of future-potentiality.
Design/methodology/approach
A systematic literature review was conducted to identify management interventions. Citation and co-word analyses were also performed. Content analysis of 311 journal articles from the past five years was performed taking into account relevant keywords, and disciplinary narrowing was also applied. These articles were used to identify knowledge that could be used to suggest micro-, meso- and macro-level changes.
Findings
To develop the future potential of organizations, three organizational levels must be separated. The first is the micro level of relations between leaders and employees, where equity is a key value for future potentiality. It should be emphasized that not all employees’ organizational commitment is equally important for organizations with future potential, and leaders should strengthen their commitment according to individual needs and opportunities. The second is the meso level, where the decisive value is organizational moderation, and this suggests that a careful and restrained development is needed both in satisfying consumer needs and in innovation. The third is the macro level, where the defining value is responsibility and sustainability, which are necessary for achieving a state where the active development of national culture becomes possible.
Originality/value
Contrary to the authors’ expectations, it has been found that there are only a few studies dealing with change management for the purpose of achieving a future potential mode of organizational operation; thus, the results can be considered new and will contribute to the development of a cross-section of change management and future studies.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to explore the intention to quit and its associations among ambulance personnel and to compare the intention to quit and its associations between paramedic and non-paramedic staff.
Design/methodology/approach
A cross-sectional study was conducted on 492 Australian ambulance personnel. Participants were selected by stratified random sampling. Data were collected using phone interview-administered questionnaires. Descriptive analyses, bivariate associations and structural equation modelling were performed for data analysis.
Findings
The study found that 70% of ambulance personnel intended to quit their jobs. Intention to quit was similar between paramedics and non-paramedic staff. In both staff groups, supervisors' and colleagues' support was associated with mental health symptoms; job satisfaction was associated with the intention to quit. Supervisors' and colleagues' support was indirectly associated with the intention to quit via increasing job satisfaction and reducing the experience of mental health symptoms among paramedics only. Mental health symptoms were directly associated with the intention to quit and indirectly associated with the intention to quit via reducing job satisfaction among paramedics only.
Practical implications
The study findings provide evidence for resource allocation in human resource management. The findings suggest that interventions to increase job satisfaction may reduce the intention to quit for all ambulance personnel. Interventions to improve supervisors' and colleagues' support and to manage depression, anxiety and stress symptoms may help to reduce the intention to quit for paramedics only.
Originality/value
This is the first study to model and compare the direct and indirect associations of intention to quit between paramedics and non-paramedic staff in ambulance personnel.
