Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the moderating role of e-trustmarks in the relationship between electronic word of mouth (eWoM), security, quality of information, and purchase behaviour of consumers on B2C e-commerce websites. The research was conducted in the context of emerging countries.
Design/methodology/approach
The research utilised partial least squares path modelling (PLS-SEM) to assess the model and its hypothesised relationships, drawing on data from a survey of 1993 consumers engaged in e-commerce websites with e-trustmarks. The study incorporated SOR theory, asymmetric information theory, and signalling theory.
Findings
E-trustmarks moderate the positive impact of eWoM, security, and quality of information on online trust. A moderating effect of e-trustmarks was also found, such that the positive association between purchase intention and purchase behaviour was stronger when e-trustmarks were higher.
Research limitations/implications
This study was conducted solely in Vietnam and focused only on a set of input variables without addressing specific industries or market segments. The research did not use demographic data, such as the age and income of the surveyors, to identify variations in the impact of variables on different target groups, indicating potential areas for future research.
Practical implications
Emerging countries should implement targeted policies regarding e-trustmarks and encourage businesses to adopt them to reduce information asymmetry in the online environment.
Originality/value
This study contributes to asymmetric theory and signalling theory by offering critical insights into how online businesses can make use of influence mechanisms in the model to ease asymmetric information. Integrating signalling theory and moderating e-trustmarks into the SOR model advances research on consumer behaviour in emerging countries’ e-commerce markets with asymmetric information.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to evaluate the impact of several factors on the continuance participation intention of service providers in the sharing economy business model, i.e. food delivery application (FDA) service.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on primary data collected from 282 service providers, this study used partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to validate measurement scales and the proposed model.
Findings
The SEM analysis revealed that service providers’ intention to continue participating was influenced by perceived social benefit, perceived economic benefit and the corporate image of the service enabler. Notably, the relationship between perceived social benefit and continuance participation intention is moderated by the service enabler’s corporate image. Furthermore, this study identified four antecedents that impact on perceived benefit of service providers, namely, market attractiveness, and marketing capabilities of service enabler, delivery quality and customers’ positive affective response. However, the effect of marketing capabilities of the service enabler on perceived economic benefit was found to be irrelevant.
Originality/value
This study enriches the authors’ understanding of the factors that promote service providers’ intention to continue participating in the sharing economy business model, particularly within the context of FDAs. Based on the findings, the study offers both theoretical and practical implications for service enablers, policymakers and technology providers to enhance stakeholder engagement in the sharing economy business model.

Abstract
Purpose
Incorporating conservation of resources theory into the sustainable career framework, this study empirically examines how social support at work, harmonious passion and strengths use interact to bolster work–home enrichment.
Design/methodology/approach
This study tested hypotheses through a two-wave research design with a final sample of 357 academic respondents from public universities in Vietnam.
Findings
We found positive relationships between social support, harmonious passion and work–home enrichment. Strengths use significantly moderated these relationships.
Practical implications
Organizations should cultivate a supportive environment and opportunities to help individuals utilize social support and exert their strengths to be more passionate and enrich their work–home activities.
Originality/value
This study addresses the knowledge gap regarding the crucial interdependence and interactions between contextual and personal resources in promoting work–home enrichment, an underexplored aspect in sustainable career literature. It highlights how social support and harmonious passion enhance work–home enrichment. Using strengths is a fundamental boundary condition for these associations. The findings offer invaluable implications for leveraging work-related resources and personal qualities to enrich work and home domains for a sustainable career.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this research is to advance the conceptual and practitioner understanding concerning the maximisation of Industry 4.0 technologies industries in an emerging economy. The study first examines the internal resources that companies possess to implement Industry 4.0 effectively and, second, identifies the critical gaps that necessitate external resources, both at the industry and government levels.
Design/methodology/approach
The study embraces qualitative and inductive approaches with semi-structured interviews conducted with 112 company leaders representing nine industries and operating in various cities/regions of Vietnam.
Findings
The data analysis helped unveil 16 critical dimensions. Notably, the organisation-developed competences dimension illuminates the understanding regarding firms’ available internal resources, while the financial management and technological leap ability dimensions help explain firms’ required resources. More broadly, the business community unity and business community learning dimensions ascertain the significance of industry-level support, while the technological sponsorship and legal framework guide dimensions underline government support.
Originality/value
First, the study unpacks various key aspects of their daily, mid- and long-term operations associated with their current internal resources, gaps identified and the support they require to progress within the Industry 4.0 environment. Second, the study proposes a framework that advances the extant conceptual understanding of operational, strategic, managerial and production aspects among firms operating in an emerging economy. Third, it focuses on companies operating in nine industries in an emerging economy. Fourth, the study contributes to addressing various extant research gaps.

Abstract
Purpose
The research aims to assess the relationship between ecological innovation, green productivity, sustainable development and agricultural productivity in Vietnam. The agricultural sector of Vietnam has been observed with new opportunities which have fostered its productivity and growth.
Design/methodology/approach
The study uses a range of methods where initially, the researcher used descriptive analysis, cointegration and unit root tests. Secondly, Quantile Autoregressive Distributed Lag (QARDL) is used to assess the short and long run effects. The QARDL methodology is employed to capture the relationship between variables. Through this approach, the researcher is able to examine the scale of the interaction between dependent and independent variables.
Findings
The unique findings drawn through statistical techniques are also a great addition to the context of literature related to Vietnam’s agricultural productivity. Practical insights can also not be denied as the study provides beneficial guidelines for Vietnam’s agricultural sector to refine agricultural productivity.
Research limitations/implications
Scholars are advised to use strong literary techniques to overcome these limitations and give a more thorough investigation into the same ideas. The availability and dependability of data was one of the primary challenges in carrying out this study. Vietnam has made significant advances in the collection and documentation of agricultural data, but there might still be gaps in the availability of thorough and current data on ecological innovation, green production and sustainable development.
Originality/value
Vietnam’s unique socioeconomic, cultural and environmental features influence how ecological innovation, green productivity, sustainable development and agricultural production are interconnected. Consequently, consideration should be taken when applying the results to various scenarios.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper studies the factors affecting digital transformation in accounting of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and then influencing accounting information quality.
Design/methodology/approach
The research model includes seven independent variables, namely organizational culture, competitive pressure, employee's awareness, readiness of the information technology systems, organization's mindfulness, alignment of the organization’s strategy and top management support, which affect digital transformation in accounting. Besides, the research model proposed to examine the relationship between digital transformation in accounting and accounting information quality. The paper uses a survey (with 253 respondents) and applies exploratory factor and regression analysis to examine Vietnamese SMEs.
Findings
This paper aims to examine the antecedents of the digital transformation in accounting and its positive impact on the accounting information quality. The research results highlight three factors: the organization's mindfulness, alignment of the organization’s strategy and top management support. In the SMEs, top management may be the one, so the top management in SMEs has a strong influence on the digital transformation in accounting.
Research limitations/implications
There are small sample sizes and not yet guaranteed to cover all business areas of Vietnamese SMEs. Control variables will be added to the research model to evaluate, such as firm size, operation time, sex of top management and age of top management.
Practical implications
The results of this paper provide practical insights into the digital transformation in accounting for business managers, researchers and other stakeholders. Vietnamese SMEs should communicate and educate employees and spend resources to improve the information technology system. It helps to improve the financial accounting quality for SMEs.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first to examine factors affecting digital transformation in accounting and the relationship between digital transformation in accounting and the financial accounting quality of SMEs in Vietnam.

Abstract
Purpose
In recent years, climate for innovation has attracted wide attention from industry and academia. It is perceived as a critical component of innovation performance in the built environment sector, especially in architectural design firms (ADFs). This study attempts to assess the degree of climate for innovation in the Vietnamese ADFs under the organizational climate theory.
Design/methodology/approach
A list of 13 innovation climate variables was found by reviewing previous studies and discussions with industry practitioners. These variables were then categorized into three principal factors (personal commitment, tolerance of difference, and support for creativity), forming the inputs of the fuzzy synthetic evaluation (FSE) analysis.
Findings
The results showed that the overall level of innovation in the climate is moderate, implying that it is still necessary for more improvements to the Vietnamese ADFs. The fuzzy analysis revealed that support for creativity was the most critical factor, followed by tolerance of difference and personal commitment.
Originality/value
The proposed climate for innovation model is practical and reliable for architectural professionals and can be applied to assess other research areas. Few studies have emphasized the innovation climate in the construction sector, so this research may broaden the knowledge and literature on the industry, especially for the ADFs.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of the study is to enhance the extant empirical and conceptual understanding of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) adoption and its repercussions for an organisation operating in an emerging economy, considering the dynamic capabilities framework. The study investigates (1) the potential impact of the I4.0 phenomenon on relationships between organisations and industry actors, (2) the existing effects of I4.0 on these relationships and (3) the necessary measures for organisations to unlock the full potential of I4.0 in order to enhance and reinforce these relationships.
Design/methodology/approach
A qualitative method was used. Semi-structured, open-ended face-to-face and online interviews were conducted with 18 directors, managers and chief executive officers (CEOs) of Savico, a leading Vietnamese car dealership.
Findings
The analysis revealed various dimensions highlighting impacts on organisation–industry actor relationships. For instance, the “enhancing internal/external operations” dimension highlights the significance of benefitting the company’s close stakeholders through a centralised management system or more advanced functions, while the empowering-nimble outcomes dimension underlines the benefits of I4.0 in enabling performance-based choices and staff empowerment.
Practical implications
Technological phenomena such as the I4.0 regime require constant adaptive strategies, including knowledge acquisition and talent development. Thus, the study has implications for industry stakeholders, including companies, educational institutions and government agencies.
Originality/value
The study’s key value lies in proposing a model that provides conceptual depth into organisation–industry actor relationships. Furthermore, both the analysis and the model can guide researchers in future attempts to examine dynamic capabilities among firms operating in emerging economies, with important practical and theoretical implications.

Purpose
Knowledge-hiding behavior can lead to adverse consequences for individuals and organizations. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between personality traits, knowledge-hiding behavior and job performance in the banking sector in Vietnam.
Design/methodology/approach
This study used a quantitative approach to test the proposed research model using a linear structural modeling method. Data were collected from 291 employees working in commercial banks in Vietnam using a direct survey instrument.
Findings
The conscientiousness personality trait exhibits a negative relationship with explicit knowledge-hiding behavior but demonstrates a positive association with tacit knowledge-hiding behavior. Openness to experience is negatively correlated with both explicit and tacit knowledge-hiding behaviors. Explicit knowledge-hiding behavior is negatively related to job performance, whereas tacit knowledge-hiding behavior has a positive relationship with job performance. Knowledge-hiding behavior played an intermediary role in the relationship between conscientiousness and job performance.
Originality/value
The extent to which employees engage in knowledge hiding depends on whether the knowledge is explicit or tacit. The impact of knowledge hiding on job performance is contingent upon the nature of hidden knowledge, whether explicit or tacit, and can either diminish or enhance job performance.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the trend of research on universities and accountability (UAA) in Southeast Asian (SEA) countries.
Design/methodology/approach
A total of 115 journal articles, conference papers, books and book chapters were obtained from the Scopus database spanning the years 1996–2023. These documents were subsequently analyzed using bibliometric methods.
Findings
The majority of UAA in SEA documents were published between 2007 and 2023 (106 documents, 92.19%). Scholars from both SEA countries and outside the region, particularly Australia, co-authored UAA in SEA documents. While scholars from Vietnam contributed the highest number of UAA in SEA publications (30 documents), scholars from Australia received the highest number of citations (878 citations). Collaboration between Vietnam and Australia emerged as the most productive partnership in conducting studies on UAA in SEA. Additionally, UAA in SEA documents were published not only in education-related outlets but also in other sectors, particularly in public policy. Furthermore, studies on UAA in different countries exhibited both similar and dissimilar interest keywords.
Originality/value
This study represents the first bibliometric analysis focusing on UAA in SEA literature. The insights and implications derived from this study are valuable for future researchers, university leaders and policymakers.
