The learning bank
The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Group has unveiled two e-learning programmes soon after completing what it claims is the largest banking integration project ever undertaken in Europe. The two programmes, which each cost £60,000 to develop, are rolling out in the Corporate Banking and Financial Markets (CBFM) and Retail divisions. These follow the migration of NatWest systems onto RBS platforms, after the group's acquisition of NatWest in March 2000.
The first project, developed by AdVal, was to retrain around 3,500 relationship-management staff, after CBFM upgraded its credit-scoring database for corporate customers. The content comprises scenario-based, hands-on tuition with a test at the end. However, because the learners access the training at their desks through the Group Learning Education Network, they also use the training like an electronic performance-support system.
With the second project, RBS commissioned KnowledgePool to develop online content to support the deployment of a bespoke sales-and-service support system into 1,750 branches.
