Mobics
Mobics is a a spin-off company of the University of Athens, Greece, that specializes in the design, development and provision of value added services for mobile, web and pervasive environments, with an emphasis on geographic and contextual information.
The creative homepage features news and a featured product, along with tabs to the following pages: activity areas; solutions; projects, both in progress and past; and partners and clients.
Under solutions are two products for fire detection: the meleagros intelligent fire protection system 1 (MiFiPS-1), a low-end visual fire detection and alerting system with a downloadable brochure; and a web-based forest fire simulator.
Humboldt Wireless Lab
Humboldt Wireless Lab (HWL) is a large wireless self-organizing indoor and outdoor mesh network research project developed by Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany.
The homepage of this clear and concise site provides an excellent overview of the lab and its technology. More detail is provided in the links: features which entails the network characteristics, research goals, application which includes temperature, position, and seismic movement, and network/routing; three different projects, one of which is the “Self-Organizing Seismic Early Warning Information Network”; resources such as documentation and source code for this open source project; publications; people; and partners.
System Sensor
System Sensor is a global company based out of Chicago, IL, USA that specializes in smoke detection technology, and one of the largest manufacturers of fire detection in the world.
System Sensor’s in-depth web site contains some of its featured products: their award-winning advanced multi-criteria fire/CO, aspiration products, and duct smoke protection. Within each of these links, can be found extensive materials such as data sheets, technical info, applications, media, training, and videos.
There is also a link entitled “Intelligent Detection” which uses advanced communications protocols and includes laser technology used in clean rooms and communications centers, difficult environment smoke detectors for dusty or dirty facilities, and multi-criteria devices for areas requiring stability and performance.
City Technology
City Technology is a manufacturer of more than 300 products detecting 28 different gases for use in personal and fixed life safety systems.
City’s well-designed homepage highlights a sensor locator search key of their more than 30 sensors, latest news, and a new product. The rest of this easy-to-navigate web site is divided into pages with a breadth of information on: sensors, applications, product ranges, technology, support, and quality.
Honeywell Analytics Industrial Fire & Gas Systems
www.honeywellanalytics.com/en-US/products/industrialfixedsystems/Pages/default.aspx
This informative portal of Honeywell Analytics features nearly 30 different industrial gas detectors that incorporate the full spectrum of Honeywell’s gas sensing technologies (electrochemical, catalytic bead, open-path and point infrared). Applications include oil and gas, petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, industrial refrigeration, water and wastewater treatment, plastics and fibers, pulp and printing, agriculture, manufacturing, and other industrial processes.
Each product links to its own page with further particulars on: features and benefits, accessories, technical library, and an image gallery.
Makel Engineering
Based in California, USA, Makel Engineering, Incorporated (MEI) provides innovative cutting-edge products and services for aviation, space, military and commercial applications with a specialty in MEMS chemical sensing.
MEI’s succinct web site is split into two main areas: company and products and technologies. Under products and technologies are sensors and systems based on MEI’s interesting research: hydrogen detection systems, advanced fire detection systems, exhaust emissions monitoring, microchannel reactor technology, In situ resources utilization, clean distributed power, and international space station, and life support systems safety.
Xtralis
With the company tagline of “The Sooner You Know”, Xtralis is a global provider of solutions for the early detection of fire, gas and security threats. Xtralis is the inventor and pioneer of VESDA aspirating smoke detection (ASD) technology.
Their vast and comprehensive web site includes portals on: industry, safety solutions, security solutions, products, training and support. Each portal is introduced with an overview followed by a tremendous amount of correlative material.
