Responsible development of nanoscale technologies – new funding competition
Article Type: News From: Sensor Review, Volume 31, Issue 3
The Technology Strategy Board and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council have jointly allocated up to £400,000 to stimulate innovation with technologies that can address the potential environmental, health and safety (EHS) aspects of the development of nanoscale technologies, either by offering an innovative EHS product or by solving EHS issues with nanotechnology-enabled products and processes.
The investment will support feasibility studies lasting up to three months and the primary purpose of the competition is to seed business led collaboration going into future programmes in EHS-related applications within a global context. It is also focussed on understanding priorities in EHS-related issues and solutions from a UK business perspective, and to deliver early stage novel solutions that will put the UK in a strong competitive position in developing technologies in a global landscape.
The competition opens on 10 January 2011. Applications are invited from single companies or those in collaboration with other companies and/or with academic institutions.
