Web sites

MPGI Systems Group IST

www.istcorp.com/radiation.html

This is the web site for IST’s MGPI System’s Group, a company which develops and markets a range of equipment from individual channels to complete systems to monitor or control γ and neutron irradiation, contamination of gases and liquids and specific leak rates.

The web site offers downloadable PDFs containing high-resolution images and detailed product specifications for their product portfolio. This is supported by a dedicated area of the web site called the Knowledge Centre. Here, visitors can access a wealth of information relating to radiation sensors, including news articles, technical papers and brochures.

Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications LaboratoryGeorgia Tech University

www.gtri.gatech.edu/seal

The Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL), is a research department at Georgia Tech University. Its primary purpose is the research and development of RF sensor systems, with particular emphasis in the field of electromagnetic environmental effects. SEAL researchers analyse, measure and control the electromagnetic interactions among elements of an electronic system and between the system and its environment. The web site contains contact information for researchers working in the field, as well as linking the wide variety of research projects conducted by Georgia Tech.

Research Triangle Institute – RTI

www.rti.org/page.cfm?nav = 123&objectid = 4AD99911-049C-4D73-B1E5CD36DF1FEB6E

Research Triangle Institute (RTI) currently designs, develops and builds electromagnetic sensor systems from active and passive remote-sensing systems to exploiting electromagnetic frequency signal technology.

RTI has 40 years experience working with partners at National Aeronautics and Space Administration and conducts applied research and development into electromagnetic sensors systems and their applications in the field.

The RTI web site is clear and has detailed information on all their current research and capabilities. It has specific and direct contact information should you require more detail from the researchers involved and comprehensive lists of all their patents. There is up-to-date RTI news available but there is a lack of images and downloads, so although informative it could deliver more varied content.

University of Manchester, Electromagnetic Systems

www.umari.manchester.ac.uk/research/areas/electromagnetics/index.html

Within the Aerospace Research Institute at The University of Manchester is the Electromagnetic Systems Engineering Group which focuses on the following themes:

  • lightning, EMP threats and protection (direct and indirect effects);

  • antennae sensors and installed performance;

  • EMC and systems susceptibility;

  • signature management;

  • EM measurement and accreditation;

  • RADHAZ and biological effects; and

  • EM design tools.

The Microwave and Communications Systems Group and the Electromagnetic Centre aim to understand and control electromagnetic radiation and its effect on electronic equipment.

The web site delivers information on the research groups but is lacking in visual media as the only download available is a PDF fact sheet about the group itself. You can contact Professor Tony Brown via e-mail should you require further information.
