Title: Sonar localisationPatent number: AU2002300589Publication date: September 27, 2006Applicant: BAE Systems Plc
AbstractDescribed herein is sonar localisation apparatus which comprises a plurality of acoustic transducers arranged to define at least two end fire arrays each of which produces a sonar beam suitable for the detection of objects in the near field.
Title: Traffic camera for gathering information about the which lane a vehicle is traveling in with an image detection device in the camera.Patent number: GB2436385Publication date: September 26, 2006Applicant: Agilent Technologies Inc. (US)
AbstractA traffic information sensor system 20 includes an image acquisition device or camera 210 to generate video images of a traffic scene. An image detection device 220 extracts traffic information from the video images in connection with the lane position information of the traffic scene. An information transfer device 230 then transmits the extracted traffic information instead of the video images to a traffic management centre. The system may include a lane localisation module. The images may be analyzed to extract traffic count information in a particular lane and an average vehicle speed. The vehicle count and speed detection may be done by detecting when the vehicles pass a virtual line as detected by a pixel change in the images.
Title: Localisation of vehicle or mobile objects based on embedded RFID tagsPatent number: CA2531939Publication date: June 30, 2007Applicant: Psion Teklogix Inc. (CA)
AbstractAn radio frequency identification (RFID) system for determining the location of a vehicle or mobile object that passes there over is presented. The system comprises a tag arrangement having at least one tag where the arrangement having a width of between approximately 0.5 and 2m.
Title: Location determination with a wireless systemPatent number: WO2007127996Publication date: November 8, 2007Applicant: Texas Instruments Inc. (US); Pedigo Madison F (US); Panasik Carl M (US)
AbstractA mobile device comprises host logic and a first transceiver coupled to the host logic. The first transceiver is adapted to wirelessly communicate with a second transceiver. The second transceiver is positioned at a fixed location and comprises location information indicative of such fixed location. The first transceiver transmits wireless beacon signals. When the second transceiver is within range of the first transceiver, the beacon signal automatically causes the second transceiver to transmit the location information to the first transceiver.
Title: Method and system for indoor positioning using mobile terminalPatent number: US2007049291Publication date: March 1, 2007Applicant: Samsung Electronics Co Ltd
AbstractA method and system for indoor positioning using a mobile terminal, the method including designating a plurality of virtual locations using the mobile terminal while the mobile terminal is in motion; and tracking a location of a specific terminal by performing a localization measurement communication with the specific terminal based on the plurality of virtual anchor locations.
Title: Multi-sensor wayfinding devicePatent number: US2007018890Publication date: January 25, 2007Applicant: Kulyukin Vladimir A (US)
AbstractA multi-sensor device and a method for indoor and outdoor navigation are presented. The objective is a ubiquitous localization and tracking methodology that relies on multiple sensors to localize and track a navigator in a given environment. The method is based on fusing information from multiple sensors. Sensor fusion is based on the Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence. The wearable version of the device fuses data from a GPS receiver, a wireless signal detector, a pedometer, and a digital compass. The version of the device that can be mounted on a robotic base fuses data from a laser range finder and a RFID reader. The indoor localization is done by using wireless signals already available in many indoor environments due to the ubiquitous use of wireless IEEE Wi-Fi networks. One advantage of this approach is that it does not require any modification of the environment. The outdoor GPS-based localization overcomes the problem of signal drift by computing standard deviation ellipses of signal coordinates collected at pre-selected landmarks.

Title: Localization system and method for localizing objects or animals using such a localization systemPatent number: US2007171063Publication date: July 26, 2007Applicant: Schimmer Martijn (NL); Blom George Johannes F (NL)
AbstractIn particular, situations it may be desirable to follow, trace or otherwise localize specific (groups of) objects or animals, in particular people. The invention relates to a localization system. The invention also relates to a method for localizing objects or animals using such a localization system.
