3DX-Ray is using Medtec to highlight the capabilities of its automated in-line X-ray inspection system, X-Linee.

X-Line provides internal imaging and fault detection – even in difficult cases such as plastic components in plastic or metal containers, or even where the precise 3D alignment of a needle is needed. It is ideal to help ensure that complex medical devices are fault-free and can even be used to check for sharps amongst high volumes of waste.

More than ever before the medical world demands that products are in perfect working order. Failure can lead to severe repercussions. Visual inspection will show if there is an obvious fault, but passes over the threat of latent or internal problems and mis-alignments.

X-Line can measure the position of an array of features, in three dimensions, down to around the width of a human hair (100µm), at line speeds in excess of 80m/min.

It integrates 3DX-Ray's X-Line camera with a suite of software that can control the system, store and analyse X-ray image-based information and output application-specific data. Alongside the camera and X-ray source, the heart of the system is the “X-Line” module, which is used both for control and selection, and utilises sophisticated decision-based criteria to check the product. Its isolated digital inputs and outputs simplify integration with other equipment and its suite of engineering tools helps rapid set up and diagnostics. X-Line connects to the XIMS management system.
