UK government funds new optical chemical sensors network

Keywords: Sensors, Gases

In May 2005, the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) awarded a grant of about £250k to a consortium of organisations to set-up and run a knowledge transfer network on optoelectronic gas and chemical sensors. Dubbed OptoCem.Net, the project aims to stimulate the development, commercialisation and use of optoelectronic gas and chemical sensors in the UK. The consortium comprises the Scottish Optoelectronics Association (SOA), the Sensors for Water Interest Group (SWIG), the Gas Analysis and Sensing Group (GAS) and Scottish Water. Any UK organisations with interests in optoelectronic gas or chemical sensing (and overseas organisations with production or R&D facilities in the UK), are invited to participate.

Involvement is free of charge and to register or for further details please contact Alistair Tweedie at: alstair. tweedie@optoelectronics.org.uk
