ETI has developed an innovative Palm Thermometer probe that connects directly into a Palm hand-held computer (PDA). The Palm Thermometer probe and software allows the user to measure temperature over the range of 250 to +150°C with a 0.01°C or 0.1°C resolution. The probe is ideal for measuring a wide range of temperatures throughout industry (Plate 3).

It is currently possible, using a completely electronic method, to record temperature readings, real date and time plus notes (attached to each reading) utilising the Palm Thermometer probe and software. This, for example, allows processing and industrial professionals to securely collect data safely, including the ability to add a 30-character note to each temperature reading, this effectively replaces traditional paper-based methods. This is particularly useful as a means of recording specific delivery, supplier or product information.
