Michell Instruments sets new standards in dew point measurement technology
Michell Instruments sets new standards in dew point measurement technologyKeywords: Measurement, Humidity
Michell Instruments, leaders in hygrometry and process instrumentation, has set new standards of precision and reliability with the launch of Optidew, the very latest in cooled mirror dew point measurement technology (Plate 12).
Designed for accuracy, stability and ease of use in laboratory and industrial conditions, Optidew is a humidity transmitter suitable for the most rigorous applications requiring precise dew point or relative humidity measurement.

Offering unrivalled flexibility, Optidew features a wide dynamic measurement range from –50 to +90°C dew point over a temperature range of –40 to +90°C, equivalent to a humidity range of 2 to 95 per cent RH at temperatures up to 90°C.
By measuring the dew point temperature directly, using a high-quality platinum resistance thermometer, Optidew offers absolute precision with drift-free, long-term performance. Optidew also offers far better accuracy and stability than traditional polymer RH probes, particularly at low relative humidities.
Built to last, Optidew features a rugged, IP65 housing capable of withstanding the most demanding industrial conditions, while retaining the performance and sensitivity of a high-level laboratory reference hygrometer.
Optidew provides two 4-20mA output signals, configurable through the instrument's interfacing software to dew point and temperature or relative humidity and temperature. The RS232 interface allows connection to custom data logging and configuration software, operating under a Windows™ environment.
Optidew's design also takes into account contamination, which can compromise the accuracy of many cooled mirror dew-point meters, and as such features Michell Instruments' new Dynamic Contamination Correction (DCC) System. The DCC System automatically eliminates any error that may be caused by mirror particle contamination, and intelligently adapts itself to accommodate particular applications from the dirtiest of processes to the cleanest semiconductor applications.
Optidew can be mounted in a variety of ways such as directly into the process, flange mounted, tee mounted or via an external sample line, and is available with a range of options including up to 250m of cable for the remote sensor, probe sensor mounting arrangement, special measurement ranges and sintered stainless steel sensor guard.
