PW Alien, a world-leading supplier of inspection and measurement equipment, is pleased to offer the Compact Video Microscope (CVM), a microscopy solution suitable for a wide range of industrial and scientific uses.
The CVM provides high magnification for inspection of small components, surfaces and highly intricate assemblies, offering a magnification of 1 to 1000X. Users enjoy an extremely simple "point and shoot" system that eliminates problems of mounting, illumination or focussing.
The CVM consists of a compact benchtop control unit, remote microscope head and a video monitor or PC, and may be used as either a hand-held or stand mounted device. Power, high resolution video and adjustable illumination are built into the CVM. Colour images are displayed on a monitor or PC and can be printed or recorded. In addition, non- contact measurements can be performed using optional video or PC image processing systems (Plate 4).

A wide range of fixed magnification contact and non-contact lenses are available. Typical non-contact applications include use in hospitals and laboratories for observing items too large to fit under conventional microscopes. Contact measurement is useful for industrial engineers where inspection of material surfaces is essential.
