Rechner says no to the gloves off approach to adjustment in flow sensors
Flow sensors are an essential part in operational safety for measuring the flow of liquid and gaseous media during process control. Digital outputs may well be used to flag up minimum or maximum flow rates, whereas an analogue sensor will be the requirement for continual monitoring of flow speeds in automated control systems. In both cases there are no mechanical contacts therefore the sensors are incredibly wear resistant. Only the sensor tip has to be in the monitored media. The high quality material of the housings also helps to minimize any possible abrasion.
The calorimetric measuring principal of a flowing medium absorbing heat energy is the technology behind these sensors. Temperature dependent resistant measuring resistors and clever electronics ensure that the end result is a clear, simple and cost effective way of monitoring flow rates.
Ease of adjustment is a key benefit of this new range of flow sensors from Rechner (see Plate 9). Using the programming ring, adjustment can be made without additional equipment or tools. The ring can also be locked or removed after use, for security. The design is such that the adjustment can even be made whilst wearing work gloves! A 16bit Micro-controller ensures the necessary processing speed and measuring precision. The background illuminated LCD displays the information converted into a 4-20mA signal or alternatively two programmable outputs, PNP or NPN, are available.

The housing is a robust high-grade stainless steel with a protection rating of IP67. The components within are fully resin protected against vibration and condensation. The process connection is M12 x 1, G1/4 in. or G1/2 in. and the electrical termination a standard M12 connector system.
The small compact size of these sensors, and the particularly easy installation and operation make the Rechner flow rate sensors ideal for many process control applications.
