The new Calex "Pyropen" may be small enough to fit into your top pocket but it offers performance which, up until now, has only been available from larger, more expensive models.
It measures about the same size as a marker pen (Plate 3) and has a pocket clip moulded into the underside of the case or, if you prefer, a small hole at one end which can be used with a neck chain.
Plate 3The new Calex "Pyropen"
Its superior technical specification includes the following key performance figures: wide measurement range of -20°C to +500°C; accuracy of + 1 per cent or +1°C (whichever is greater); repeatability of + 0.5 per cent or +8°C (whichever is greater); display resolution of 0.1° up to 199.9°C; 1° above 200°C; display reads current value, last value, max, min and average values. All in °C or °F.
The "Pyropen" is ideal for electrical hot spot detection, HVAC and refrigeration field service, energy auditing, monitoring manufacturing processes and refrigerated food storage, facility and vehicle maintenance, roofing asphalt, concrete, paint, plus many other applications and materials.
It runs off two standard AAA size batteries and costs less than £100.
