The new M7 radiation thermometer is the latest addition to the System 4 range from temperature specialist Land Infrared (see Plate 8).
Plate 8 Land Infrared new M7 thermometer has been designed specifically for use on ultra-thin plastic films.
Designed specifically for accurate, reliable measurement of a range of hydrocarbon polymer plastics temperatures from 25 to 375°C/75 to 700°F, it utilises state-of-the art spectral filtering to ensure operation in the exact, narrow region of the infrared spectrum centred on 3.43µm.
The spectral response of the M7 thermometer is precisely located at the region of highest absorption, minimising transmission and maximising emissivity for accurate temperature measurement of the thinnest materials - less than 20µm.
M7 is suitable for a wide variety of plastics, such as polypropylene, polyethylene, polycarbonate, polyester, acrylic and cellulose acetate.
Typical applications include blown and cast film, film orientation, thermoforming, metal coating, blow moulding, drying of printed film, packaging and converting.
The M7 thermometer can be fully integrated with the Landmark® Graphic, Classic or Basic processors, from which it derives the necessary power supply and emissivity control signals.
The processor acts as an interface for the thermometer, providing an industry standard 4 to 20mA output signal for direct integration into any process monitoring, recording or control system.
Landmark Graphic is a full featured processor, offering multiple channels with large graphic display; Landmark Classic is a lower cost, modular processor with LCD display; and Landmark Basic is a DIN-rail mounted processor with separate (optional) DPU power supply and LMi indicator intended for OEMs.
