Sensing Techniques are introducing their Linescan Video Processor, the design of which has already won the company a DTI Smart Award.

This high speed instrument has been developed specifically to complement the wide range of proprietary linescan or linear array cameras using CCD technology and significantly reduces system costs while offering excellent versatility and precision (see Plate 4).

The LVP has a large high definition LCD screen which displays measured values in appropriate engineering units together with operator-set upper and lower tolerance levels which flag up warnings if the process or components are out of range. Setup and calibration routines are extremely simple and user friendly software guides the operator through the procedures.

With a capability of taking more than 3,000 measurements per second, the unit ensures optimum data capture and is more than a match for the fastest process lines. Both analogue and digital interfaces come as standard, which means the LVP can be integrated with PLCs, computers and DCSs.

Depending on the sensor array used, accuracies of better than 1 part in 5000 of measured value can be readily achieved.

Typical applications include faulty component inspection, on-line dynamic width and thickness monitoring, height-fill-seal checking of components and simultaneous section profile monitoring of materials. The LVP is part of Sensing Techniques range of optical measuring equipment and light sources.
