Digital output inclinometer

Digital output inclinometer

Keywords Inclinometer, Position measurement

This high accuracy 360° digital output inclinometer a rugged, non-contact measuring transducer, developed for electronic levelling utilises a fluid-filled, variable capacitance angle sensor in conjunction with a microprocessor, offering angular measurement with both enhanced resolution and (0.05°) accuracy (see Plate 6).

A compact low-cost device, the ISU has two digital outputs via an RS-232 port and pulse width modulation (PWM) formats, in addition to 4-bit addressing.

The device, available from EuroSensor, can be used in a diverse range of applications covering:

  • wheel alignment;

  • medical "range-of-motion"

  • antenna elevation;

  • police work;

  • hospital beds;

  • construction equipment;

  • machine tools; and

  • formula one.
