The world's first personal safety monitor fitted with six detectors to measure electric and magnetic field components, independently of their orientation has been launched by Wandel & Goltermann (see Plate 3).
The powerful field monitor RadMan is available as part of the company's safety test solutions range. It offers safety in strong electromagnetic fields, for example, around radio and telecommunications systems, RF industrial plant, or plastic welders.

RadMan monitors the limit values laid down by national and international control boards, such as IRPA, VDE, and FCC. Moreover, it gives out both an optical and an acoustic alarm if these levels are exceeded.
A major benefit of RadMan is ease of use the operator merely needs to switch it on, as it is already calibrated to the relevant standard. RadMan becomes a standardised quick tester within seconds, simply by flipping over the absorber cap, and can also pinpoint leakage from antenna feeders and wave guides. In addition, it is able to differentiate between changes in limit values at different frequencies, showing the correct value as a percentage of the relevant limit value on the LED display.
The compact RadMan, with its distinctive yellow and black casing, can be carried easily in an overall pocket, or in the special bag provided.
RadMan (patent pending) is available for the standards VDE (Germany), FCC (USA), AS-NZS (Australia/New Zealand) and RCR-STD-3 (Japan). Further standards (such as IRPA, or IEEE) are already in the processing stages.
