The SMART Software Technologies Club has made a very successful start with 30 member companies and more intending to join. Members are taking the opportunity to understand how off-the-shelf SMART software can be used for business advantage.
SMART software provides business with the tools it needs to turn data into useful information for decision making. The club is designed to help its members understand the technologies involved and how they can be applied to their business problems. The application areas for the first set of the 12 demonstration projects are being decided and there is great interest and support from the leading SMART software providers.
Members of the club cover the broad spectrum of business, from financial services to manufacturing and their areas of interest range from demand forecasting and economic prediction to data mining and intelligent agents. Over the next two years they will have the opportunity to find out what software is available, understand the technologies used and see the software in action on problems which they have chosen.
The SMART Software Technology Club (SSTC) is managed by ERA Technology supported by Brunel University and funded by the DTI. The club is part of a wider DTI initiative to help UK companies gain a greater awareness and knowledge of the available intelligent processing software technologies and how to benefit from them. It will cover both the practical issues involved and the competitive benefits to be gained, through a series of technology transfer activities including seminars, tutorials, practical workshops and application demonstrator projects.
