The FS Series force sensor from Honeywell Sensing & Control is a cost-effective and highly reliable instrument grade, precision force sensing product.
The FS Series is an innovative development in sensing, providing robust performance characteristics coupled with application versatility.
Typical applications include medical equipment control (kidney dialysis machines, infusion, pumps, haematology equipment, medical instrumentation); high-precision force sensing (variable tension control, materials testing, load and compression measurement, liquid-level measurement); and ultra-low displacement sensing (contact measurement and sensing, robotic end-effecters, process control feedback, inspection controls).
The force sensor's design incorporates a specialised silicon-etched sensing element, ion-implanted piezoresistors, conductive-seal electrical connectors, a stainless-steel plunger and a patented modular construction.
In operation, the mechanical force concentrated through the plunger causes the sensing element to flex.
This results in a change in circuit resistance and a corresponding low-level output voltage proportional to the force applied.
The low-power, unamplified, non-compensated Wheatstone bridge circuit design provides inherently stable mV outputs over the 1,500 gram force range.
A variety of mounting options includes mounting brackets as well as application-specific mounting requirements. Operating temperature is 40 to +90°C (40 to + 194°F).
