Purpose – Examines whether work-life balance is achievable or advisable. Design/methodology/approach – Suggests that the economic crisis has provided an opportunity for people to examine their work-life priorities, to decide what is important and to take action based on their decisions. Adopting a spiritual position provides a practical list of getting a perfect job during the recession; argues that getting a job “has divine implications”. Presents a number of hints from a former monk on how to find one’s vocation and records the lessons that the author learnt has he went about looking for a job and a wife. Argues that people should stop trying to find balance in their lives and start learning to enjoy chaos.Article type: General reviewISSN: 1040-9602Reference: 39AC261
