The Central & East European paint market was estimated at 1,818,250 tonnes in 2001 and is expected to grow to 2,100,600 tonnes by 2006. Growth is forecast to vary across the region, with the markets of Slovenia, Hungary and @omania expected to exhibit the strongest growth (see Table I).

The European coatings industry consumed over 2.2 million tonnes of pigments, extenders and fillers in 2001. The value of this market was in excess of e5.3 billion. By 2006 the market is expected to reach over 2.5 million tonnes, with a value of some e6.4 billion (see Tables II and III).
