Special issue on the New Zealand capital market
Article Type: Call for papers From: Pacific Accounting Review, Volume 24, Issue 2
Guest Editors: Bart Frijns, Aaron Gilbert and Alireza Tourani-Rad
In recent years, there has been an increased focus on developing a vibrant and liquid New Zealand capital market. Efforts have included the formation of the Capital Market Development Taskforce, the creation of the Financial Markets Authority, the enactment of a number of legislative changes to securities laws, and indirectly the introduction of KiwiSaver, and the recent proposal for the partial privatization of SOEs. We invite high quality submissions of research on these and related topics on the New Zealand capital market and the companies listed therein.
The Pacific Accounting Review (PAR) plans a special edition, to be published in 2014, on the New Zealand capital market. The special issue will be in conjunction with a one-day symposium on the New Zealand capital market hosted by the Auckland Centre for Financial Research at the AUT Business School, Auckland, on 31 May 2013. Papers accepted for presentation at this symposium may be considered for publication in this special issue. The guest editors welcome papers that contribute to our understanding of the functioning of the New Zealand capital market. The main requirement is that the research must be academically rigorous, showcasing high levels of theoretical justification or development, analytical precision, and writing proficiency.
The following list offers a guide to some of the topics likely to feature in the special edition: .
- •
The structure and efficiency of the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX) .
- •
The historical development of the NZ capital market .
- •
The impact of regulatory and accounting changes on NZ companies and the NZX .
