IMAPS-UK Annual General Meeting 2009

Article Type: Industry news From: Microelectronics International, Volume 26, Issue 3

At the IMAPS-UK Annual General Meeting(AGM) held at the Edinburgh Conference Centre of Heriot-Watt University on 2 March 2009, a new chairman and committee were elected. Alan Fairbairn of Indium Corporation is the new chairman; also elected were John Carr of Renishaw as Secretary, Dave Lowrie of Rakon as Treasurer and Andrew Holland of CSR as Membership Secretary. Despite the tough business climate we face, a very positive outlook was discussed and way forward was endorsed by the members.

With the confirmation at the AGM from Paul Collander, the President of IMAPS-Europe, that IMAPS-Europe supports and underwrites the UK hosting of the 2011 European Microelectronics and Packaging Conference, we will now finalise the agreement to hold EMPC-2011 at Brighton during 12-15 September 2011.

To ensure that we have a platform for the society and the alliance with European chapters will progress the offers we have from large circulation electronics packaging magazines as communications and publications platforms for the Society. This will ensure the members receive frequent technical and event information and provides also for advertising opportunities for our corporate members. The intention is to achieve a greater reach beyond the members – to get significant attendance to our events and growth of membership and extended reach for advertisers.

All corporate members from 2009 onwards will be entitled to send any of their staff to IMAPS-UK events at full member discounts. Obviously, we will need some specific named members and their contact details in order to send them communications. Our primary mode of informing members in future will be by e-mail and with links to the new web site.
