"This is a terrific opportunity," commented Indro Mukerjee. The semiconductor business is at an exciting crossroads as many consumer, communications and computing markets start to converge and open up a host of new opportunities. Philips Semiconductors is ideally placed to capitalise on this enormous growth potential. We are world leaders in key consumer and communications areas, we have an incredible depth of technology expertise, and boast a track record in creating new and innovative solutions for an increasingly demanding market place".
Indro Mukerjee, who is British, moves from the position of global sales and marketing manager for consumer customers. He joined Philips Semiconductors in 1997 as sales manager for the European region. Prior to Philips he held several high-level management positions at Hitachi and the multi-media start up company VideoLogic Ltd.
Conrads, Executive Vice-President of Philips Semiconductors, has headed the worldwide sales organization for nearly five years. Under his responsibility the division changed early this year from a regional to a global structure, addressing fast growing segments of the worldwide semiconductor market.
